Not many venture to this point but just look at the view!!!!’

It’s an awesome and fairly easy as long as you take the right way. When it comes to a fork make sure you take the left if you aren’t looking for a challenge. The right is much steeper and can be exhausting in the heat. Many bunkers and definitely worth the view.

Leeward is on fire!

The most beautiful coastal view hike I’ve done so far! We saw a school of dolphins, it was so amazing! There’s lots of tide pools at the end that you can climb down the rocks and swim in. The trail was about 6 miles round trip and it took us about 3 hours with a few stops. The terrain is dirt and sand, low incline, just a few hills. Try to go earlier in the day when it’s not super hot like we did! Bring lots of water to drink and use sunblock!

Great hike, especially at sunset. A couple switch backs and steep parts, but worth the climb once you get to the top. Can get warm and there is no shade/breeze so bring water.

Went about an hour before sunset. Saw a monk seal. Hiked 3.5 miles and then turned around as it was getting dark. Gorgeous sunset!

Great hike, moderately difficult with rocky terrain. Beautiful sights the entire way up.

This is a long walk but there are some very interesting views of the coast line and rock formations in the early part of the hie. The end point is this really neat animal sanctuary with TONS of birds that don't seem to mind you approaching closely. The trek back was during the sunset (leave about 45 mins for this part of the walk) and provided spectacular views the entire way home.

mostly uphill hike, trail in pretty good condition for most of the way although some may struggle on a few muddy portions/climbs. views on the way up of west side well worth the hike even if summit is foggy. at a good clip for an experienced hiker 4 hours round trip. fair number of people on trail after about 10am on a weekend

Beautiful hike! Saw a monk seal! We went a little too late in the morning, it got super hot by the time we finished. Ended up being 7 miles after walking around the water and trail!

I was not prepared for this. I did no research before going and did not have the proper footwear. That said, it was amazing. We saw whales, seals, coral beaches, and great views. The beach at the start was moderately busy. We made it back to the beach by sunset and watched it on the beach. It was New Years Eve and the fireworks during the drive home were insane. Oahu takes their new years fireworks seriously.

Stunning views! Be prepared to endure the heat along this very scenic shoreline hike, because there is little of no shade. As you walk through the Ka’ena Point Area National Reserve beyond the stretch of sand dunes with birds nesting, you may encounter seals resting in one of the many shoreline pools. Besides packing a sufficient amount of water and a snack or two, you also may want to bring along your swimsuit, as you may need to cool off in one yourself before you head back. Easy hike if you can endure the heat.

Nice hike a little warm when we went today around 1000. It is a moderate hike with a lot of switchbacks, but some amazing views on top and during the climb. The climb past the pink pill box is along a ridge for a very short distance and is not for those with a fear of heights. It was moderately trafficked on a Saturday probably less trafficked on a weekday.

Go early! We got there at 9am and it was really hot and humid in the trail. There’s not much shade and the trail ends up feeling hotter because of the way it’s set up, they’re like hot pockets. Not great, pace yourself and definitely bring water & wear SPF. The pill boxes were really cool, the pink one you’ll need someone to boost you if you want photos on top of it. Incredible, gorgeous views. Worth it!!!

Love this trail. Especially when it’s cloudy. Kid friendly

Short and fun rock climbing. Have a great view to the beach.

We got a late start, so even with our water preparedness, we only hiked part of the route. The views we did see were pretty!

Side note: even though there appeared to be plenty of other tourists in the area we did feel somewhat uncomfortable leaving our rental car and belongings for a long period of time due to some shenanigans when we pulled into the park.

Easy and stunning ! Bring some water and I suggest to start before 11 o’clock because the sun hit hard!

I didn’t get to finish the hike because I brought my black lab when we went to hike this in the afternoon. The trail was too hot for our lab. She started laying down to get her feet off the trail dirt. Recommend doing this in the mornings if you plan to bring your pets! Will be back to get to the pillbox, looks pretty cool from the bottom

Beautiful anytime, in the day time for a juicy ocean color views or for the gorgeous sunset in the evening.

Short, but a little slippery (small dry rocks), changing if the sun is out. Suggest to wear sunblock and hat anytimes. Not so great for a pets, since there is almost no shade and no breeze.

Easy trail. There is no shade though, so bring water and wear sunscreen! The views from the top are spectacular-- the colors contrast well, making for a great photo shoot!

Quick but rewarding hike. Hot and not a lot of shade. A few cool trees with exposed roots. Interesting history.

Really great views. Pretty flat and easy ground to walk on.

Short and sweet. Took a small dog with us and she struggled with the hot temps on the way back so I had to carry her down. Great views and the walk up got the heart beating pretty good.

The beginning of the trail is fine just a road you follow up about 2 miles then the trail starts but it is quickly overgrown and disappears altogether in some places. Someone went through with yellow flags and I followed those for a while but then I couldn’t find yellow flags and found a few pink ones. But the pink flags didn’t follow the trail. When the pink flags disappeared and my gps said I was off track for the trail I turned around. There wasn’t much to see.
