It's uphill, but paved so seems more trail than hike to me. Regardless, beautiful views from the top.
Hiking down the "secret" trail to the tide pools definitely increased both the challenge and the adventure.

First of all, the parking! Wow!! can't do much about it, but when when you get a spot your good. The trail is paved all the way and you are in a moderate incline. Worth a morning stroll as we were fortunate to see a few whales early noonish!

Short, paved walkway. Beautiful views at the top. It’s more of a uphill walk than a hike, but certainly still enjoyable.

Great for families with young children!

Upward incline the entire time with some Lookout spots along the way. Some off-paved paths that looked interesting but I wasn't that brave... One wrong foot and you could slip right down the cliffs. Not much to see along the way except cacti and scary spiders in the brush. Once you reach the lookouts to the ocean it's beautiful. Deep blue and you might catch a glimpse of a whale. We saw a little baby one playing in the distance. At one of the whale watch spots there's a steep Rocky trail down to the tide pools. Wanted to do it but it was really windy and we were already pooped as it was our second hike of the day. Heard they are a must see though. Saw tiny people down there floating in them.

Very easy walk around lush garden to see the falls. More of a walk then a hike.

Beautiful views! Worth the stop

You can walk either on beaches or in front of private property on the ocean (makai) side where signs are usually posted. Some areas have no signs, but you can walk through to the next beach regardless. Be responsible and respectful, people live here. I like to pick up trash both on the beach and along pathways to show my appreciation and share good vibes

Not a hike, just a lookout. Regardless, still worth a stop! Great views, very peaceful if you go early in the morning to beat crowds.

Easy walk on a paved trail along the shore in between the resorts and the ocean. I definitely recommend going either early in the morning or late afternoon. We walked the trail at about 8:30am and it was already pretty busy!

Not a hike, like others have mentioned- just a short walk on a paved path. Beautiful views though and a tour of the lighthouse is included in the $10 entry fee.

Short, sweet, side hike. Saw humpback whales. Lovely views and easy path.

We hiked this only because it was open. Not many trails are open after the recent eruption. The view of the crater is spectacular.

Beautiful walk! Plus it has some really interesting history. My dogs loved it. There's a section on the trail that is difficult to find once you get past the industrial stuff and close to housing if you started at the USS Utah but other than that great historical walk or running loop.

I hiked it but I also rode it- pure magic on a clear day you can see big island from the top

Closed today due to federal budget impasse. Can see lighthouse from gate ~1/4 mile away.

Fun walk. Not really a hike because you are on pavement the entire time, but the views are spectacular. We were lucky enough to see humpback whales at the second lookout point. Bring water, sunscreen, and a hat because you're completely exposed the whole way.

This is a really interesting hike because it takes you through so many different types of forest. We also saw a pig! A little bit of mud but easily done in low-top hiking shoes. We went in afternoon so fog was in but I’m not sure you’d get huge views anyway as I think it’s trees in most of the time. Really enjoyed it!!

This hike is really a paved walkway, but has stellar views all around.

However, the best part of this hike is to venture down to the tide pools. They were one of the coolest things I’ve seen. Wear good shoes and be mindful of the waves.

Beautiful walk. Too about 1.5 hours return Inclined paved walk. Great if you have prams, strollers.
Hubby and I are generally active and found this walk quite easy.

Beautiful nature walk through to Waimea Falls. Falls are a little over rated. I’ve seen much bigger and beautiful falls in my hometown in Australia, however the walk was peaceful and tranquil. We arrived at 9am, and it took about 1.25 hrs, slow relaxed pace. We didn’t swim in the falls, didnt feel the need to. I would recommend arriving before 9:30 though as when we were heading back, the amounts of people that were on their way to the falls were growing rapidly.

Easy, completely paced, mobbed with tourists. The view over the city at sunset is beautiful. Took about an hour and a half for a VERY leisurely stroll up and down.

Great local trail, easy, and dog friendly. No shade so bring water and please clean up after your fur babies.

Super cool to see the sulpher mists and yellow-coloured rocks.

Not really a hike - it's a lookout. But it's gorgeous, definetly worth the stop!

Great paved trail, wonderful views, and very family friendly. Not a lot of shade however so bring water. A lot of incline on this trail.

Beautiful view, but gate was closed, so we were unable to go walk up to the lighthouse.

The most beautiful and biggest waterfall I have ever seen in my entire life! (so far)
A very short walk, but very crowded. However, everyone was nice enough to let everyone have a turn to get a good enough shot at the falls!
