Walked this trail at 6:30 a.m. with a large group of folks with varying ages all the way to Black Rock and back to the Ka’anapali Beach Club. Running or walking shoes are recommended. Mostly exposed to the sun but for a few stretches of shade from trees, so definitely wear a hat and other protective wear if you’re sensitive to the sun. Enjoy views of the resorts along the trail, ocean, beach, and take in all that fresh island air.

Amazing views from this trail. It’s more of a walk and not really a hike. We went counterclockwise like some other reviews stated and thought the views were amazing. We had kids 9 & 11 with us and did this very easily. Even very young kids,

Easy loop trail. Do it counterclockwise for better views.

Super easy, great views.

Looks like I'm one of the rare clockwise route-takers. Stunning views from this direction as well. Wonder what I missed out from not going counter-clockwise?! Super easy, stunning hike. Highly recommended!

We were looking forward to this hike. Should have read the recent reviews before driving to it. Gate was closed. Trail is SUPER overgrown. Lost trail beyond the gate almost immediately. Maybe next time?

Trail was closed. Couldn’t see a way in.

This is a great walk!

Beautiful! Easy hike. Make sure you go counter clockwise.

Aka Dragons Teeth. Easy hike from Kapalua or D.T. Fleming Beach. Great views and awesome sea spray in the craggy shoreline.

How could it be anything’s my but 5 stars when you’re running in Maui? Beautiful views and happy faces.

We enjoyed it! Easy and beautiful vantage points.

Easy walking trail, as others mentioned better to do early in the morning.

A gentle, serene hike with very slight elevation change. Good for littles. Definitely walk it counter clockwise for best experience. Dirt/grass trail is nice for walking. Whales, Hawaii native plants, dramatic coast views. Take water and also stop at one of the snack trucks for a shaved ice on your way back! You may not get cellular service so cue up before you leave. The trailhead is marked but you need to watch for it.

Incredibly beautiful nature walk. So quiet and serene we could hear the whales breathe in the waters below. Next time we will pack a picnic and take more time to enjoy the views.

Super easy and short - great advise from Kris K - counter clockwise is the best way to go

This was a great hike that me and my son both enjoy. The view all around was great.

I really wanted to love this hike because the ocean views are incredible, but the trail is overgrown with 3-4ft tall grasses which meant the adults carried the kids and we frequently lost the trail. There’s evidence of environmentally irresponsible human toileting practices throughout the trail. This hike was worth it for the gorgeous panoramic ocean views. Probably would not do again since there are so many great hiking options nearby that don’t involve breaking trail.

I walked this trail from the south end. It actually continues farther south than the map indicates - to a total of about 3.5 miles one way, 7 miles round trip. I walked to the northern end and then a little farther through the village where I had a nice dinner at Fish Market Maui, then walked back. It took me about 2.5 hours, including half an hour for dinner. The trail is paved, well marked and completely flat. It gets a bit confusing at times where it goes through resorts and intersects with other walkways. I had to reference the map a couple of times. Overall very pleasant and I feel like I have earned my dinner.

Great, easy hike. Spectacular views! Make sure you do it counter-clockwise. Much better views.

Sadly, it’s overgrown and impassable. We tried but the bush is just too thick.

This is a perfect route for a walk or jog and to travel between the south and north sides of Black Rock.

Nice trail with lots to see. A little slick in spots after a heavy rain but still easy to navigate.

My family and I really enjoyed this trail! The trail had no other hikers, was well marked, and had some informational placards; it was a quick and easy hike that we did in flip flops. This loop trail leads you through rolling colorful shrublands and provides great coastal views throughout the hike. We went off-road a bit to get better views of some of the coastal sea cliffs. There is an outlook from the parking lot, but the hike provided better views. We have been visiting Maui for ~15 years now, and this was the first time we did this hike; we highly recommend!
