Wonderful hike! Breathtaking views even if you don’t make it all the way to the top. There are a few spots where you have to climb up boulders, but I do it with my 1.5 year old on my back so it’s not too bad. They look scarier than they are. If it’s been super rainy within a few days it may be muddy but last couple weeks has been perfect trail conditions. Happy hiking!

The map isn't accurate. This is a tiny little loop with signs identifying plants. Good cool down after Kukui.

Lots of people but well worth it with the views at the top. Plus the bunker walk through is a trip to the past.

We entered from Koolau Golf Course. Muddy but fairly easy and short hike to the falls. If you continue up instead of going to the falls, you will end up on Old Pali Road that can take you up to the Pali Lookout... If you want to go that far. If you want to do that, when you get to a T, go left, then when it looks like you can go left or right, go right, hugging the mountain and you will shortly end up on the road. you can see the road below when you are supposed to take the right hand trail. Be prepared for rain and use mosquito repellant.

Short, paved walkway. Beautiful views at the top. It’s more of a uphill walk than a hike, but certainly still enjoyable.

Great for families with young children!

Trail starts off steep and muddy so be sure to grab a walking stick at the beginning of the trail. After the muddy start the trail dries up and flattens our with a few random steep areas. The view at the top is breathtaking and worth the hike.

Super brief walk to the pool. Great spot to swim. Remember to take off your watches before jumping in, I found an Apple Watch and a Casio (both work!)
Don’t miss the guava trees growing just as the trail drops to the water, and if you buy passion fruit at the roadside stand, remember, when they’re ripe, they’re wrinkly and sad looking.

Great Beach during big waves! Short hike down.

Some reviewers here seem overly agitated about the difficulty of this hike. It’s pretty steep, but not 60 degrees (obviously). It can be muddy in the rain, so maybe don’t do it on a really wet day.
Anyway - the hike is beautiful, somewhat challenging and has a great payoff. Keep going until you reach the fence. Don’t stop at the cross, don’t stop at where you see some thick brush, go all the way to the metal fence for maximum views - you didn’t do all this work for nothing. Cheers and enjoy :-)

Upward incline the entire time with some Lookout spots along the way. Some off-paved paths that looked interesting but I wasn't that brave... One wrong foot and you could slip right down the cliffs. Not much to see along the way except cacti and scary spiders in the brush. Once you reach the lookouts to the ocean it's beautiful. Deep blue and you might catch a glimpse of a whale. We saw a little baby one playing in the distance. At one of the whale watch spots there's a steep Rocky trail down to the tide pools. Wanted to do it but it was really windy and we were already pooped as it was our second hike of the day. Heard they are a must see though. Saw tiny people down there floating in them.

Wear appropriate shoes if you're not experienced or tend to be a little clumsy like me. Steep but well worth it. Lots of people but it's a short beautiful tropical hike worth visiting.

a bit muddy and plumeria not really blooming but the cacti are very interesting. overall nice 2 mile loop

The views from the top of sleeping giant are fantastic. This route is very muddy & closed in!

The hike was 7.08 miles (according to my Fitbit). It was a steady incline in the beginning, definitely got our heart rate up quickly. The last mile or so to reach the bench where you can view the cone felt like a complete vertical incline, which was amazing! I can see why people say it was boring, it’s mostly grassy hills, with some animals around, but we found it enjoyable. People hiked to take pictures of the scenery, but it was a wide enough trail for people to hike on. It was enjoyable, just make sure to pack enough water and wear sunblock!

This is a nice trail that begins on private property. One pretty waterfall at the end. Not very challenging.

Very muddy! Lovely variety of trees and plants along the way. Great views from many spots.

Great little commuter path for walking or cycling. We've seen whales from the path every day since we arrived (mid-January). Nice way to get to Donkey Beach.

Can get a little muddy but definitely worth the hike. Easy to do and a definite must if you are visiting Hawaii.

Easy hike but heavily trafficked. This hike is definitely a good start of you are planning on coming to Hawaii to hike. Great views from the top. If you aren't used to hiking you will get tired and the stairs may seem like they can beat you but you got this.

Beautiful views! Worth the stop

A great hike to take people on because it’s not too challenging as to be overwhelming but it’s also not boring. You really get to see the layers of the mountain from down by the stream up to the strawberry guava and ironwood and then native koa and ohia. You’re rewarded with a good view of the windward side and it’s possible to walk along the ridge and explore some.

Great family hike! I’ve heard that this hike is super busy, but we didn’t experience that at all. I think the key is to go later in the day, to avoid everyone starting their excursions on the road to Hana. We got there around 330 pm and only saw a handful of people. We were totally alone at the 2nd waterfall and didn’t see a single person on our way back down. The 1st waterfall is super close. If you want to do the 2nd one, you’ll have to go through a gate which has a bunch of signs talking about how dangerous it is, and how it is for experienced hikers only. It wasn’t at all difficult for my kids. I think they have them up to make sure people are being cautious. I could see it being intense if there had recently been a lot of rain or something, but it was really quite mild when we went. Beautiful trail. Breathtaking waterfall!

The beach was great however the trail map goes through a private property I couldn’t access. It’s easy enough to go around. Be weary of doing this in flat soles or sandals. The ground is very smooth and next to a cliff for much of the path.

Only a spot view, not a hike! But is a nice place to see..

Short trail with an easy to follow path and lots of shade. Not a whole lot to see, although many of the trees were labeled. There’s a nice view of Kaneohe Bay at the lookout. It’s really more of a nature walk than a hike and the signs warning about ticketing if you park at all on the paved road made me nervous.

very difficult but a good workout

We lucked out with dry ground! It hadn’t rained for at least 4 days......maybe longer. That made for an easy day. The falls were gorgeous. Well worth the time. Follow the upper trail rather than the river to get to the second falls! Beautiful the whole way. Loved all of the plants too!
