11/12/2018-Started around 0745 and came across 3 groups of people. Weather was overcast and drizzled on us a little on the way back. Unfortunately, we only made it about halfway through the trail before having to turn back because of all the overgrowth (trail definitely isn’t maintained on a regular basis); grasses were easily 6’ tall along the narrow trail path.

Great easy trail with an amazing waterfall at the end! Second half was a little steep but nothing a hiking newbie couldn’t handle. It is on private property but as long as you’re respectful it isn’t a problem.

Not too difficult, but definitely you will need a hiking boots. Gets slippery after the rain. No scenic views, since you are going through the woods. However the waterfall is amazing.

This is a pretty easy, cool trail with many different sections and cool plants. The bamboo forest is really interesting to walk through. It's good to go once or twice for a quick, easy nature hike.

It rained the day before. The trail was extremely muddy and slick. Definitely recommend having good hiking shoes for this trail just for the sake of traction. Lots of roots and big branches you have to duck underneath towards the middle of the hike. The view is amazing. We had a decent breeze. But very humid. Started off around 9 am. It was about 89 degrees when we finished. You just hit these pockets of hot air during the hike. Bring a bottle of water with you. Not sure if I’d do this one again. The view is gorgeous but I personally don’t like this much mud on my hikes. Call me dainty if ya want. Ha.

Protip: make sure to use bug spray. We sprayed before the hike and I still managed about a dozen bites. Imagine if I didn’t have any spray on.

Pretty muddy for the first 1000 yds. After that it dried out. My 10 yr old twins and 7 yr old had a good time.

First half of the hike is easy and the hills get relatively steep for the second half. The waterfall is worth the trek.

Slippery and muddy if it rains but the views are well worth the hike

Where do you park for this hike & where does it start?

There are two main falls in this area- Hamama and Waihe’e. Hamama is quite straight forward to get to as it is at the end of the trail. To get to Waihe’e, look for a flat area followed by a large banyan tree on the right. Traverse down to the right and cross the stream.. There you will see a trail to the right that follows the stream then up and over a small ridge till you hit Waihe’e Falls. You can also climb to its upper falls.

Love this hike with the family. Covered all the way, moderate difficulty and wow, what a view at the end.

9/22/2018-Started hiking around 0730 and came across 7 groups/solo hikers and runners. I got a friendly nip from a young dog a nice lady was walking with (she actually had two with her) and a hello lick from a Golden Retriever (that nice lady had two Goldens with her). XD Weather was a little humid at the start but became nice and windy as we made our way up. Not too sunny for the most part but the view from the top is still awesome!

The trail is reached thru the Friendship gardens entrance, which is a nice residential area garden. The trail then meanders up the hill side for a ways and can be a loop as mentioned in previous review.

Rains and saturated ground caused lots a trees down a few months ago, but all seems fair now. Enjoy the climb and the views.

I’m not sure if we just got lucky and hiked on a day that the trail was pretty calm, or if this is always a pretty calm trail to hike but Pu’u Ma was definitely a nice stroll through the woods. It’s a nice tame walk through the Forrest and seemingly ideal for a hot or humid day since you’re surrounded by trees the entire way up. It’s also a great hike to take your dogs on.
There isn’t much of a view of anything but woods on the way up so it’s definitely a time to just be in the moment. Three fourths of the way up you’ll see a root pathway that actually looks like something you would find in an enchanted forest and that’s when you know you’re almost there. After the sign on the top, the view opens up to...
Well, I have to leave something to the imagination don’t I? Check it out.

Amazing hike. Slightly muddy. Parked near McDonald’s and walked on the side of the highway a bit before the trailhead.

Beautiful hike. Parked at the shopping center and walked to the trail head along the side of the road, next to the guard rail. Trail is shaded most of the way. There are some steep areas, when it had rained I wouldn't recommend going, to slippery. Once you reach the top there's an amazing view of the bay. I took my 5 & 7 yr olds. They did fine but this was their first moderate rated hike. I think it's rated that because of the steep inclines. This trail is a secret gem.

9/8/2018-Started our trek around 0750 and cane across 11 groups of hikers. The ground was relatively dry but it’s definitely more eroded since the last time we visited. There wasn’t much of a breeze so it felt hotter than usual. However the view of Kaneohe Bay at the end was rewarding.

Beautiful hike!

Yes you can do a loop past the steep section after the view into the quarry. It will take you to neighbourhood and walk the road to complete the loop. Check my recording.

Same as Oneawa Hills hike

Very grassy/leafy hike! Would recommend wearing pants. A lot of this is spent walking through tall grass-like plants. Overall not a difficult hike. It branches off the friendship trail so make sure to keep checking this app to make sure you’re on it! At the end there seems to be a steep downward trail that supposedly brings you out to the quarry. We just went back the way we came to the beginning of the hike. Hike took about 3.5 hours from start to finish, including taking several breaks to take pictures.

Had a lot of fun hiking this with my best friend and her two kids (1.5 and 9). Wear bug repellant. Views are beautiful, buildings are beautiful and show history. Parking is not fun. Be sure and stay in the dirt.

Great hike.... All up hill, lots of mud after a rain but the views are amazing.....

love Hamama good for exercise, views, and cooling off after a nice workout

This was a pretty cool hike. We did this with the little guys (7 & 4) in slippas with ease. The pool is cool but if it’s crowded just go a few more steps up the trail to the bridge and get in there. Not as deep but just as refreshing. The waterfall was worth the hike. Go early to ensure you have some time to yourself. It gets pretty crowded midday. Nice way to spend a Sunday with ohana!!

Awesome place and with a nice swimming area. Unfortunately I lost my knock off go pro there and am more concerned with losing all the great pictures I took than the camera itself. So if anyone finds it u are more than welcome to keep the camera I just want the memory card. (contour camera)

easy to find. did it with 2 kids (ages 7 and 4). weather was good, can see slippery areas if it had rained. views were awesome.

beautiful after a bunch of rain. fun to hang out and cool off. very easy hike
