Easy trail with some incline. Great for kids and dogs. Water fall is beautiful. The water pound is half way mark. Parking is street parking just be respectful to the neighborhood and residents. Overall nice hike, will come again.

Great workout with bonus waterfall at the end

Good hike for groups with various skill levels. The trail is wide but does have some steep grades. Wear good shoes. The falls were thick since it had recently rained. Some pics uploaded showing trail entrance and places throughout. Be respectful of the residential neighborhood.

Fairly easy, wide trail. Small waterfall at the top is fun to dunk your head in and the pool near the bottom is a great way to cool off.

Awesome trail with beautiful views of the bay! Steep slope at the beginning makes it a little challenging on a wet day.

Taken this nice drive numerous times and its always worth the occasional traffic. Choosing to go early in the am on a weekend or in the late evening changes the perspectives entirely.

The view is amazing, definitely worth the hike. It is a little steep and really slippery at some points. Park at McDonald's, the trail is off the highway right after the apartment complex. There are markers throughout the trail but easy to miss, just follow the most trekked path. It's a little less than 2 miles to get to the top. We completed it with 3 kids and a baby in a carrier.

No parking. Park at McDonalds and walk along the highway. The beginning of the trail is easy to miss but there is a yellow marker to show the beginning. My group, 3 mid 20 year olds, did this hike after it rained in the morning and this was a difficult slippery hike and we fell multiple times and got very muddy. Besides that we loved the challenge and loved the beautiful scenery on the way up. And then the views from the top were amazing. We recommend.

Such a good hike!! We did it today and it rained (not too hard) on and off the entire time. Parking is along the side of the residential road. Please don’t park in front of any mail boxes or driveways, be mindful of people that live here and walk quietly to the trail head. Trail begins at the dead end of the road at the “do not enter, Federal property” sign. Go around the left side of the fence and follow the main gravel/dirt/mud road all the way to the falls. Don’t venture off the road onto any tiny side trails, most of them are monitored by cameras and don’t lead to the Hanauma falls. There is a swimming hole at a clearing to the left about half way to the falls. People jump in but it is monitored by cameras as well. There is another set of smaller falls to the left of the large Hanauma falls, or at least there is when it’s raining like today. Such a nice easy hike!

This is a beautiful hike! So many pretty plants and trees. The stream that runs along is beautiful too with a pond many swim in. The waterfall is beautiful and peaceful. Trail was well traveled and in pretty good shape. Would be muddy if raining.

Just went today and even in the rain it was amazing!

The view at the end was great. I wouldn’t recommend going after heavy/moderate rain as the trail can be super slimy in parts all over the hike. Heading down after it rains is near impossible. And bring bug spray. As it turns out, mosquitos aren’t very nice.

Hiked yesterday. Perfect family friendly trail for hikers of nearly all levels. Brought two babies in front pack. Slight hill to get the cardio going but nothing too difficult or very long. Beautiful mountain and forest views. The waterfall was raging and beautiful. We stopped and took photos and it only took us about 2 hours. Great way to acclimate to the Hawaiian heat and temperatures without getting overtired or too hot.

Nice waterfall! Easy hike.

Easy hike. Lots of birds singing. Nice waterfall at the top. My two year old grand daughter basically walked the entire route.

Easy hike with places to jump in the stream.

Did this trail yesterday with some friends. The small loop .04 mile trail is very beautiful, it takes you thru very big pines, a bamboo grove and wild flowers. At the first look out point you take great pictures of Kaneohe bay. The second look out point offers a better view of the Kailua side and a chance of a panoramic view of Kaneohe and Kailua. To get to the second point is a little challenging. There are plenty of ropes and roots to help with the climb. This trail will take you along the ridge towards the Kailua quarry. We didn’t go past the antenna tower. There is limited parking at the trail head, be a good steward and park properly. Also, be mind-full of the neighbors minimize your noise foot print.

Awesome waterfall!

Beautiful waterfall. I'm not a strong hiker but this was a manageable but good cardio workout

It was good hike, it easy but gave you a sweat! And the end state of the hike is pretty.

Took this hike on Friday, February 23. Only a few other hikers were encountered. The falls were running strong. Highly recommend this hike for anyone looking for a 2 hour hike through some beautiful tropical forests.

Unique garden trail but path was blocked due to recent storms. It was in the process of being cleaned up as sections were roped off, so give it a few days.

Crazy difficult during or after a heavy rain. Easy fair weather hike with nice sunrise view at the pillbox.

Went on 13th after the rain - the road was a bit muddy but fine. Great dive into the waterfall - don’t make my mistake and bring towel with you, you’ll want to do it!

PS- I lost Sony lens cover on a trail today, if anyone finds it - please DM me in Instagram @birdinthesea or FB @denis.astakhov — I’ll pick it up for a reward

A short hike with a few steep hills. There was more people than I expected but it was a Saturday. The water was flowing a lot too, definitely one of my favorite waterfall hikes on the island.

2/10/2018-Started about 0817 and came across 9 groups/solo hikers. The weather was good but hazy and the ground was a little sticky but not super slick. View at the end was awesome and enjoyed seeing all the different blues of Kaneohe Bay!

Didn't encounter any hikers, probably since it was a weekday and it was rainy. The entire path is gravel/paved, making it a pretty easy and straightforward hike.

Nice short hike, cool bunker hangout at the end.
