Very Scenic hike! Took about an hour with lots of stops for pictures. Went at 8:20. Not much people yet.

Very touristy. Kid friendly. Rocks and roots can be slippery but it’s an easy hike.

Love this trail! Took my two littles with me. Lots of water crossings and mud. There’s even some ruins along the way!

As a resident Hawaiian avid hiker this trail is sub par. Sure, the scenery is nice but thats most trails on the island of oahu. There is no big payoff epic view like a ridge hike or a waterfall or anything special. This is just a basic trail that the locals use for exercise. It is “lightly trafficked” despite being in a densely populated area in a large nature preserve/arboretum which says something about how worthwhile the trail is. You might like it as a tourist but there are dozens of trails that are far superior in beauty and view.

Heavily trafficked, not everyone makes it all the way up, the view is definitely worth it though.

the breeze and view at the top made it worth the hike up!

Fun hike, but you should be prepare and you will expect very windy, rain and muddy track, bit of rock climbing, rappelling skill will help,.
If you not prepare, you will regret it, bring a snack, plenty of water. Not for a beginner, if you scare of high, don’t do this hike.
I enjoyed though,..

Amazing hike! But be careful it’s slippery. Other than that, the view is really amazing!!

Loved every challenging minute of this hike! Great views all along the way and at the top. Lots of camaraderie on the trail.

Decent easy hike with a lot of tourists

Aloha! Hiked again today and will be hiking this Sunday due to the not so great of weather forecasted Saturday. I have hiked most of the hikes on this island many many times! It is often windy and/or rainy but we never have issues as we always have the right gear supplied by me when we go. If you're looking to hike and want to link up or get some ideas of what this trail looks like feel free to reach out to me on my Instagram @mike.karas or mikekarasphotography@gmail.com. Bring plenty of water for this hike and other hikes out here in Hawaii.

Really fun hike, but its definitely a good idea to bring micro-spikes. Many of the steep vertical ascents were difficult to get traction on.

This hike has nice views along the way and multiple spots just off the trail where you can walk to/swim in the stream. It was moderately crowded but not too bad. The trail itself was quite slippery in some spots due to the mud. Overall it was a fun hike with a cool waterfall at the end! Plus, there is a trail head for another trail at the end of this one, literally next to the falls. This trail goes up another 1.3mi or so to the top of the ridge with a beautiful view, it was worth the extra time and effort up.

Hey everyone! Planning to do this hike tomorow hopefully it's goung ro be nice out! If anyone wants to join dm jessicalittlexo on instagram

Gorgeous easy to do hike that is child friendly and paved. Much harder “off road” hike down to the tide pools but definitely worth it (climb straight down rocks)

Easy hike to beautiful waterfall
Child friendly

NEW ROUTE! We are locals. DONT GO the normal way through where all the signs are, through the short bamboo forest and then into the valley clearing. The state has put up a nice new fence around the whole reservoir and they are actively working on it. Instead. Park in the parking area, go to the Right, where there is a locked fence double door. There is a whole in the left side of the fence. Go through there. Go Left down road, then Left again. Bamboo Forrest and mud.Once in clearing follow the brown signs with yellow arrows. Use your phones Google maps to see the different trail options. Remember, once you hear the Lulumahu stream just follow it up and cross everyonce in a while as needed. VERY MUDDY. Wear correct shoes! Bring clean clothes to change into after.

very serious..but worth it..last time I went up was on my 50TH bday..let's go.
special note..its almost jus as hard going down lol

A well-maintained trail wanders back through the jungle to a nice waterfall. Area is often muddy, so wear good shoes. A light jacket or poncho is recommended due to regular showers.

Anybody who's going on August 31st/Friday? :) msg me please at rociram_11@yahoo.com

nice short hike and a beautiful view of the mountains. it was a clear day, no clouds until we descended, clouds starting to come and was drizzling a little bit. some strawberry guava on the way

I went the other day, it got pretty muddy and wet towards the top. If you have crampons that will help. I'm going up this Sunday the 19th. if you'd like to join send me a message on instagram @angelo_q. Make sure to bring food and water and maybe some layers because it can get pretty windy and wet up top.

Every step was worth every second of the beautiful views.

Great hike, but not to be taken lightly. Come prepare by having spikes, boots, water, snacks and lots of time.

Nice quick trail to a decent lookout. Average view and not a very intensive hike at all. Can get muddy so just watch the weather, but it's nothing that would prevent you from doing it in the rain or panicking if you were caught out there in a passing shower.

Did feel a bit adventures since we lost the easiest trail a couple of times and had to backtrack . My athletic son even continued up a steep mountain side and got to a point above the falls , instead of to the end of the falls. Quite a few people around though so you could find your way by following voices. Muddy, slippery, gorgeous scent of ginger, pretty bamboo. Stunning waterfall! Only wish it was better marked.

Made it almost all the way to the K2 summit on 7/4 but it was pretty cloudy and a few of us didn’t feel comfortable making the last climb of the hike. The whole thing was really pretty but definitely some slippery spots - the trail did give way on one of the really narrow parts and I took a tumble about five feet down the side of the mountain but was able to dig my fingers in and stop myself. If you’re going to hike in Hawaii, don’t wear tennis shoes. Everything is muddy. I immediately ordered real hiking shoes and have been fine ever since.

This was absolutely amazing. The most gnarly hike I’ve ever been on. I was terrified on the last hour to the top as it was super windy and you are walking on the ridge most of the time. Did this two days ago and I’m still sore. Super worth it but not sure I would ever do it again. This is a HARD hike and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Use spikes if you can - seriously muddy and the spikes saved my life. The way down seemed much easier after what we experienced on the way up but still sketchy. If you do it alone, guaranteed you will find some people to chat with and help you out. I suggest starting before 8am.
