We could not get to it. It has signs on Ohiki road saying “local traffic only” this means it is not open for tourists. I’m not sure if everyone else just ignored the signs or it wasn’t there before but we decided to respect that and turned around.

Good workout. Didn’t make it all the way up, because of time. There’s a scenic lookout about 1.75mi into the trail, which gives you a good overview across the bay. First portion of the trail is muddy but it gets better the further you’re in. I recommend it for some good sport activity, but I’m sure there are better scenic hikes.

Loved the views and the hike. Great hike !

Beautiful and fun hike! Did this early in the morning and it poured down rain. Slippery trail. Lots of gnats because of the fruit on the trail, mosquitoes too. Crossed the river a few times which was a bit tricky. Nice stop at the beach along the way.

A “Must” on anyone’s bucket list if hikes. Take plenty of water and snacks as the afternoon gets very hot and you are exposed to the sun.

Very muddy, but definitely worth the view of Hanalei.

This trail is completely overgrown 1.5 miles in. Usually use the app for trail running, but past a certain point the grass was upwards of 6’ tall and footing not so clear. Trail was interwoven with pig or hunter trails. Yes, saw lots of dog tracks at the beginning which tends to indicate hunters...not something I want to be walking around in 6’ tall grass knowing hunters could be nearby. Trail was basically an access road to the point it got overgrown. Oh well, was hoping to put in a solid 10 -14 miler given its connection to the other side of powerline. Got in 2 miles before I turned around. Couldn’t run past 1.5 miles or so

Road past Hanalei is still closed so no access to the trail.

Muddy but worth it !

Overgrown vegetation. No views. Very hard to navigate through; you can get lost easily. Thankfully we started in the morning so we knew we had time to find our way out. We didn’t go out and back through the same entrance. We found a way out that led us to the road, and walked back to our car.

If you want to do a hike that is a literal walk through the jungle this is it.

Probably wouldn’t do it again.

Recommend:
- long pants
- start early
- camera for photo ops!

Enjoyable hike. Last 1/4 of trail is tough, especially if wet and especially on the return. If you don't want to get muddy, this trail isn't for you. Hiking to the power line tower or to the benches at the half way point is moderate hiking level. After that, there is some harder hiking in store. Hope to do it again when it isn't wet. Not sure when that would be

Same as Okolehao Trail. Should combine the two.

This is also called the Hihimanu Ridge hike

If you want an easy hike this probably isn’t the hike for you. However if you want a challenging hike that has some technical parts to it this is the one. The chair is about 1 mile up the hike to get to the peak is about two hours up from the chair. Total time to hike from bottom to top anywhere from three hoursAnd up

Is this trail accessible? Has anyone hiked it recently? Thanks!

enjoyable hike, however more so for the forest hike and than the view. it was interesting to see how the hill and soil is being held by the roots of the trees. the views are not that impressive. make sure to continue hiking after the viewpoint with the rope and bench because it is the most interesting part but also very slippery and muddy.

we do not consider that is a hard trail, except that it is muddy.

Beautiful views! Moderate to Difficult due to mud and elevation gain - but worth it!

Took about 2.5 hours but we were booking it due to our friends having to catch a flight.

One of my favorite hikes I did in Kauai.

great hike! definitely challenging. it's currently very wet and muddy. a lot of roots and uneven ground. you will need to climb the roots of a tree to get to the overlook. someone was kind enough to tie a rope to help you up and down. a hiking pole would he very helpful! Aloha!

With the road closed to get there. How are people getting to this trail?

Favorite hike! Incredible views

Definitely through the jungle & super duper muddy. Be sure to grab a stick on the way in. So many people didn’t and get slide the whole way. Jumping into the creek at the end was amazing! Not too much to see past the yellow bench but fun anyways! At the fork... turn around.

One of the most difficult hikes I’ve ever done. Mud, streams of water, 2 ropes to climb steep descents, made this hike very painful. Yes, there are some views but hiking to no destination made this hike undesirable.

Would say it‘s more moderate than hard compared to some other trails classified as hard. No deep cliffs, not dangerous at all. Sometimes muddy and slippery of course and conditionally challenging. But easy to make it to the viewpoints. Tool us two hours to get to the second viewpoint and back. Nice view to Hanalei Bay.

Only got through half of it before deciding that in all the mud it would be way too sketchy coming back down. I would suggest very good boots and a stick if you are going.

Hardest hike I ever did, but worth it. Had to cross the river three times and climb over four foot rocks along the way.

gorgeous hike. a little muddy but nothing unusual for a North Shore hike...

This hike was extremely beautiful but the time it took and the mud was terrible. it was so slippery I fell and couldn't get up for 5 minutes because of how hard I slipped. very dangerous after rain. Don't bring children. very difficult :( would not recommend after rain

This trail is no longer maintained. It's mostly used for ATVs. There were quite a few swampy areas I waded through - the water was up to my thighs. About 2 miles in, it became impossible to see the trail. Rather than getting lost I turned around.

Was a decent trek but I wouldn't recommend it - there are way better trails in Kauai.

This trail is moderate the first 1.5 miles. Hard the 1.5 mi - 2.5 miles. Very Rigorous if you continue on to the ridges. Lots of guided ropes and plenty of fun, a true jungle experience. Felt like Tarzan. Gorgeous Panoramic views of half the island essentially!

This trail is well-maintained, easy to follow, and offers beautiful views. When we hiked this morning there was plenty of mist that kept us cooled off. The entire trail was muddy but with a walking stick it was completely manageable. Highly recommended.
