The hike was great. We arrived around 9:00 a.m. Not too many people there until we hiked back. The view was spectacular! Would do it again

We loved this hike! Definitely a workout but we worth it! We went past preachers rock and there was another stunning view. We hiked about four miles in and then four miles back. Well worth the hike.

easy and great short hike!

Easy fun hike. Great place to stick your feet in the creek.

Agree with other reviews...moderate hike, decent workout, KILLER view.

Amazing views! I got stung by a yellow jacket but it was no big deal. Totally worth it;)

This was a beautiful, moderate hike! Our weather was great. If you walk a little past preacher’s rock to where the trail splits - take the trail to the right with the blue blazes and you get a second, beautiful overlook.

The views from Preachers Rock are gorgeous! Could have stayed up there all day. The hike up, while not extremely difficult, did get a good muscle burn going on. The hike is dog friendly if they are on leash. I brought one of my pups along for it. He had a great time. This trail is pretty crowded through and through. I did go on a Saturday, I'm sure that didn't help.

So the actual hike wasn't difficult. The views from Preacher's Rock are pretty awesome. We went early to try and catch the sunrise... but what we actually caught was a nice walk in the clouds. The temperature was very pleasant and the added moisture from the clouds was nature's A/C. However the map from Alltrails was a bit misleading. The was our first trip so I relied solely on the app. It had us walking an extra mile thinking there was more to see... There was not. So unless you are planning on hiking to Blood Mountain don't go past Preacher's Rock.

Very nice hike when combined with Preachers rock.

Trail is in great condition! Beautiful overlook, and as other reviews have said, lots of hills coming back! Marked well.

I loved this hike.

Parked at Highway 60 and headed up the mountain planning to do an out and back to the Suspension Bridge. As I began my descent from the top, the trail was so overgrown with tall grass and weeds, I kept slipping and falling because I couldn’t see the trail. I finally turned back and will try again later in the fall when some of the vegetation dies. I know the BMT is supposed to be more rustic than the AT but it could really use some trail maintenance. What is the USFS road that approaches the bridge?

Hiked this trail with my 8 year old and we loved it. Lots of flowers, butterflies, rocks and roots to make an interesting hike. The view at preachers tick is amazing. Only bummer is the lack of parking.

It was a short hike from the parking area to the suspension bridge. Once there it was very scenic with lots of open forest with a fire ring or two. It was easy access to the Taccoa River where dogs can get a drink and swim. After crossing the bridge we the hiked up to the mountain top. There are no views up there but it was a nice work out with beautiful summer foliage.

Great hike with two beautiful overlooks (great place to stop and take pictures)! Trail is in great condition. It is a little hilly coming back but overall a great hike!

arrived abt 4pm parking lots on both sides were jammed packed. trilhead not clear on the particular blazes. surprisingly not crowded and enjoyable the entire way. my husband and I with our 2 teen boys and two dogs enjoyed the peacefulness and the well maintained trail. the view at preachers rock was gorgeous and some people congregated to chat. the dogs loved the ups and downs and couple switchbacks broke things up. I even appreciated the bathroom when getting back down! the little joys....

fun trail. second time doing this loop trail. great hike.

went to preachers rock with wife and another great couple. headed to preachers rock for the view. kind of steep till the view. what a view it is. could see 6 mountain ranges from the rock of preaching.

This part of the Appalachian seemed well traveled and was well marked and has two great outlook areas that are top shelf. Wife and I hiked it out and back with no problems. all the steep areas are stepped with rocks so it was easy both up and down. would do it again.

Awesome trail, we had such a wonderful hike. The weather was perfect. Lots of shade and a wonderful workout! Preachers Rock was a magnificent view, totally worth it!

Great little hike. Most of it is easy but about 1/4 mile is uphill. Nice camping spots along the trail!

I bagged Coosa Bald and Slaughter Mountain starting from WolfPen Gap on the Duncan Ridge Trail. Both of these mountains are on the GA 4000 Challenge. I did Coosa Bald out and back from Wolfpen Gap (heading north on the trail) on State Road 180. Then I did Slaughter from the Gap south. Duncan Ridge goes right over the top of Coosa Bald and the USGS Benchmark is easy to find. Duncan Ridge does NOT go over the summit of Slaughter. You have to leave the trail and bushwhack to the summit. If you follow the ridge line that runs north toward Duncan Ridge the summit is only about 300 to 400 yards off the trail. You would think it is an easy bushwhack. In August it is not. There is no a herd path to the top, at least not one that I could find. The top of Slaughter is covered with undergrowth (ferns, weeds and wait-a-minute vines with stickers) as much as chest high. When you get to the top of Slaughter there is nothing to see (in August). I stood on an pile of boulder (the highest point) but could find no Benchmark...perhaps in the winter one could be found. Recommend long pants for Slaughter.

Great

Hiked a total of 3.8 miles so we went just a short way past Preacher's Rock. Not a hard hike at all and I will definitely do it again.

We love this hike on the AT. Short hike with just enough incline to work up a sweat. Go during the week to avoid the crowds. Amazing view from the top. 5 months pregnant and completed the hike with no issues. Prettier views than Ramrock mountain. No stream crossings. Some switchbacks near the summit. Great place to bring visiting family or friends. Will definitely return.

Pretty easy hike to Preacher Rock. Good for all skill levels with a rewarding view! Will definitely do it again around fall.
