Bring a backpack with water and snacks, & lights if you’re starting in the afternoon! This is an all day adventure. Had to hightail it back because we forgot flashlights, so we were trying to beat the winter sunset (we started at 11am and took too long at the summit- both mistakes on our part) finding parking depends on where you start your route, there are plenty of access points with free parking especially if you incorporate any of the other trails in on this one, but I recommend following this trail strictly to stay on time. Great views at the top, getting there is the most difficult part!! The rest of the trail is smooth sailing. I recommend going to the summit first, unless you enjoy torturing yourself like I do. We looped around then climbed and I hated myself for it.

This is not about the trail itself, just a warning. My greyhound and I decided to come here to hike today because of the free parking for MLK day. We were no less than 500 yards down the trail from the parking lot when this large dog - looked like a pit/boxer mix, 100+ lbs - comes running down the trail at us, no owner in sight and no leash. I carry pepper spray at all times with my dog. I yelled out to control your dog or I would spray it if necessary; the owner told me if I did that he would F with me beyond belief. I don't put up with this crap, my first dog was nearly killed by a loose dog. We exchanged a few choice words, and I stated your dog is off leash - leash it. I reported this to CNP ranger staff, stating the owner threatened me. Beware if you hike here with your dog, there are idiots who let their dogs loose here.

This is our go-to for walking our dog. He's a Chiweenee and can handle it, so it is pretty easy. But you can still build up a sweat if you move quickly. Goff mix of shade and open fields.

Too many dogs off leashes

Beautiful trail, but about a mile of it goes along a really busy road/highway.

Good well marked trail. If you get there right at sunset you will see a lot of deer. In the summer the trail will probably have a nice canopy with the trees.

Great day out. There are a lot of crisscrossing trails so you can get a lot of mileage. The outer loop is also a bike path so be aware of them. We enjoyed the rock scramble down by the river on the side trail.

fun trail, easy to moderate. good markings. was muddy but has rained the last 2 days. dog friendly. A bit of trash seen around the trail. very limited parking. Parking fee.

Less crowded with elevation. Good add’l hike post Big K. More about the trail than the summit vistas but you’ll find several civil war canyons. Was very breezy on NYD 2020

Great up ndowh trail-mostly beside a creek; and RUINS! Old mill complex...MOST EXCELLENT

Really fun trail to do with the family. Definitely use the map the trails not marked very well.

This takes you on private property that clearly says do not trespass. You also cross the creek about 7-8 times so be ready to get a little wet.

Great jogging trail. Enough elevation change to keep the heart rate up but flat enough to keep a good pace.

World of 2 trails. One was pretty and tranquil, the other was full of horses, horse poop, houses seen through the trees, and walking near a road.

Nice and easy trail! Lots of leaves and one fallen tree in the way today but other than that, relaxing walk by the lake. Only a porta potty at the entrance.
