Really fun short hike with great views and nice shade on the way up. Strenuous for folks in my crew that aren't avid hikers, but luckily the hike back down is a breeze. Bathrooms and parking available. Go right at the trailhead. Heavily trafficked but wasn't too bad on a Friday afternoon in the summer. A couple of great spots off to the side of preachers rock to hang a hammock and eat some lunch while still taking in the view.

We hiked this trail at midday on 7/20/18. Our group consisted of 5 teenagers and 3 adults age late 40’s, to early 50’s. I would rate the trail as easy on the way down and moderate on the way back up. The trees keep the trail fairly cool for this time of year. Nice refreshing swimming hole at mid trail with nice waterfall and another waterfall at the bottom of the trail. Water shoes and a change of clothes if you’re going for a swim are recommended for this hike. We’d definitely do it again. Get out and enjoy!

Great run. Steady climb. Just FYI my watch clocked 2100 ft elevation gain, which was a bit higher than noted above.

Great beginner trail. Just the right mix of fun vs challenging.

Great trail that takes you from views Lake Lanier from the parking lot, around Buford Dam, then along the Chattahoochee River and in and out of the woods with plenty of terrain changes. Nice challenge for trail running. Will definitely go again.

Great place to go for a walk, take the pups for a walk, or just hang out. It's usually a good idea to see if there are any events going on. Some of them can make the park a pretty crowded place. Plenty of places nearby to eat, quite a few are dog friendly. Will make for a nice morning, afternoon, or evening.

gets very Rocky and the trail gets narrow after rain.

Epic!!!! Don’t miss this incredible adventure!!!

Nice wide trail. Mostly wooded. Small grades as well as short steam manageable hills. I travel a lot and wherever i go i turn on AllTrails to find new off road adventures and get in a good run.

This was an enjoyable run which i tried to do 5 miles in 50 minutes. Unfortunately, I got a little lost and ran 7 in 71 minutes.

This is also a horse trail so what out for the manure.

Love this hike!

It's not free! :( $7 per adult.

Personally did not like the trail. I had to use GPS too often as the trail, for me, was not totally clear. Got to over 1/2 way and had to turn around. The path was unclear at this point and going through knee hi grass on a ridge by the lake...not a good idea.

Too many other great trails to waste time on this one.

This is an excellent hike for a lazy Sunday afternoon. The trail system is well marked and maintained. Trail follows the river for a good portion of the hike. We didn't see many people at all on the sunny Sunday afternoon.

trail through the woods.. following a dirty creek. one or two spots to get out on rocks along the creek. there's a cool spot at the verge of the muddy creek and the clear huge river. I saw a couple skinny dipping swimming in that area.. so we couldn't really enjoy the spot and get in ourselves.. the river was flowing fast looks fun. there's some more rocks on the little island between the creek and river just ipstream a bit. might be a fun adventure to go chill on those rocks and swim in front of it . the trail dies out it seems. very overgrown past this spot . I got some weird allergic reaction trying to go thru it.. it went away after 30min. decent trail. only that one spot at the end for River view ... hopefully nobody is there when you go!

trail is ok.. did this in mid afternoon. very hot. the ups and downs on the trail we're a little tiring with the 98degree heat. lol but it was ok.. disappointed that the trail didn't go along the creek so my dog could play in it. just a steep cliff. I climbed down to refill a water bottle for my dog. other than that no water. pine tree forest. birds. didn't see anything else. some wild flowers. the trail isn't the best design. but it's a loop trail . benches along the way far spaced apart. information plaques about the native animals with description. good for young kids. no cool rocks to climb across or any spectacular views. nice secluded peaceful forest tho.

Beautiful trail covered with Oak trees and palmettos. Took the main road up to my campsite at Hickory Hill, then Parallel Trail back down to the dock... much more pleasurable than the main road! Went in July so it was pretty hot, and the mosquitoes were horrible. Bring extra repellent.

Great local trail accessible from my back yard!

This was a nice hike with the exception of the downed trees. Be careful climbing over and around. Its refreshing to be able to dip in the creek after the hike in the humidity!

Easy hike. Will go back once the upper deck has been fixed.

This is our "every night" trail, we see deer, beavers, Great Blue Herons, hawks, snakes, fish, turtles. Such a great place for an evening walk. Mostly shaded.

Birds, trees, invasive species,
Best spot in the southeast (Atlanta, at least)

There’s a drive through a small shallow creek and a long windy drive. Decently not meant for a small car. Hike was beautiful. Would do it again. Not too long and not to high of an elevation. Water fall was amazing!! There are also a few short cuts for people who don’t want to hike the whole way

I enjoyed my self. Water, creeks, and random unique buildings in the woods. Tons of hidden paths. Lots of fun. Gorgeous neighborhood.

Great easy hike!

BEAUTIFUL, shady, well-maintained trail. Lots of wildlife that seem pretty used to humans. Pretty easy hike. I saw several older people hiking mid-week. Great for dogs on-leash. Yellow trail is a short loop, red trail is the longer loop. Benches available all along trail. Great for running or walking. Not many roots. Will definitely go back. Felt safe.

it is very peaceful BUT HOW SHOULD I KNOW I NEVER WENT

The trail is washed out in many areas. Can’t hike/bike the entire length.

Great trail for walking your dog. Not too long and not too short. Last half mile was confusing so we walked on the road.

My favorite hike so far. The drive up is cool. Lots of beautiful homes. The trail is through a very green forest. I was waiting for elves and fairies to start jumping out at us! The waterfall at the end empties into a clear, shallow pool that’s not scary if you have kids or dogs. We went early and were completely alone. On the way back we ran into quite a few people. So, go before lunchtime if you like to be alone. Afternoon if you like to have people around.
