More wooded and shaded than the South Loop at Lake Horton, the North Loop also has an additional 3/4 or so "oxbow trail" to extend your walk.
Dog-on-leash and kid friendly, it's not uncommon to see deer grazing a few yards from the trail. Nice easy walk/jog on paved trail.

Nice trails and well kept parking area with porty potties, hand washing station. Bathrooms are built but not open yet. Trails are fairly easy. Picnic area with picnic tables are also available.

Well traveled and maintained trails- well marked, although I found that the “loop” trail converges with a few other trails and is a little confusing to follow

Nice family/dog friendly walk- especially the north loop. Black-topped throughout. Have seen deer & grey fox, too.

Went on a nice walk with family. nice picnic area. Saw a box turtle and a nest protection box. Saw a small blue snake too! kids loved it ages 1-12! Had a nature hunt at the end.

took my dog here on the loop trail. it's nice .. lush green because you are walking near wetlands and a creek. I saw a box turtle. took 2 hours or less. it was a pretty forest .. good without having to drive over an hour away..

This place has a LOT of different trails. It makes you forget where you're at. It's a nice place for a walk; not much scenery other than trees and a small creek.

Love trail running here. Beautiful place to take the entire family for a hike as well.

We took 6 kids hiking!! It was freezing but we had to get ourselves out of the house. Even in the cold we loved it. The leaves are all gone so it was so beautiful to see through the woods. There is a bathroom in the parking lot and one on the trail. I should have taken a picture of the map... we got lost at one point but we knew we would eventually loop back to the parking lot and we did. Haha the creek was beautiful, lots of cool trees to check out. We will be back on a warmer day!

We did the white trail that turned into different colored trails like blue yellow orange and purple we took the purple it turned out to be a 3 mile hike very easy and nice !

Great trail system, well maintained. I run out there several times a week. Add the “lollipop” loop of the orange blazed Gingercake Creek Trail (NE corner of park) to make it a full 3 miles

I can't tell you anything about the trail. We drove all the way to the site to discover there's a $5.00 parking fee if you don't live in the county.

Was great, just moved here and I was looking for something close enough to get a morning run in before work. This is the spot.

Loved it...You almost forget your in Fayette County!! We did the Muscadine trail (purple) and it was a very nice 2.3 mile loop. Will be back for sure!!

Combining the Muscadine with the Gingercake trails is a nice length of 3.5km with about a third of the hike being along the creek. This is a relatively new trail system (opened in 2016) with several picnic areas still under construction. The trails are very well marked. Muscadine is by-far the longest trail, with most others being less than 2k. This is an easy hike with very little elevation change and would be great with kids or dogs. The Ridge also includes a small boat launch for kayaking/canoeing a small section of the creek. That area was closed today due to low water levels. Great spot to spend a leisurely afternoon.

Great walk. Everything is paved and you can leisurely walk around the lake and do some bird watching or geocaching on the way. It's great for dogs!

Easy walk for walking dogs. But kind of bland

Super easy and flat trail but oh so pretty. I will use it to walk my dogs on the days that my lab's hip can't take heavier wear and tear. there is a boat ramp near by perfect for day use of smaller water crafts and kayaks, canoes, etc. I think this will be a good place to start training my dogs to sit in the kayaks with us since the shore is shallow enough for a puppy to get in and out of the boat. I went on MLK day and it wasn't bust at all. a few families utilizing the play ground and lots of other puppy owners going for a leisurely walk and soaking in the sun while they could in the middle of January.

Lake Horton Park has some very nice trails that would be good for the whole family. They are all paved and very low difficulty which is good for the little ones. You won't get a huge workout by walking these, but it is a very nice location with great views of the lake
