on DeSoto Falls Trail

Short but nice trail.

It's a nice walk in the woods. It's not to long. Getting to the lower falls does have some incline, but nothing serious. The upper falls are a breeze to get to. I like the fact that it doesn't take forever. It's a good date hike. Carry a bottle of water. The Georgia humidity is crazy right now with all the rain.

Very fun and scenic trail

Great trail, very rough climb on the way back. Saw a black bear around mile 4.4 so keep a look, apparently he likes to stay around those parts. Nice campsites all over the trail (obviously, it’s the AT!) Great intermediate backpacking trail.

very well marked and maintained trail. i do advise if going hiking in the rain. the trail likes to keep alot of standing water on the marked path. other than beautiful trail.

Neither trail is closed. We went today 07/08/2018. Definitely worth seeing both falls. The upper fall is the best one and you’re able to climb up into the fall. And there are several places along the way to let kids get into the water which is cold but feels great on a hot day.

Fun trail! Hiked with my dad and a friend. Came across a copperhead on the lower part of the trail. Be extremely careful if you try to reach the higher tiers of the fall. It is very slick and straight up with no clear or easy pathway.

Great trails.

Beautiful falls and great camp grounds!

beautiful falls

Trail was easy to find. The porta potty had a sign on it that said due to lack of donation they are unable to keep up with the maintenance. Started walking the trail, and it was very pleasant, but NOT clearly marked. There are no trees marked in between trail markers and it is very easy to end up off course. We ended up miles off the loop turning a 9 mile loop into a 13.5 mile hike before we finally called forestry because we were running out of light.

it's open

Sure was pretty! and hard too!

Fantastic very diverse trail system. Time flies while hiking it. Lots of surprises along the way.

Trail is open (3/31/18).

The trailhead location is accurate on this site and easy to find. It has a detailed map, parking and even a porta-potty.

The trails have a good mix of downhill sections, climbs and flowy single track. There is probably 50miles of riding out there.

I like to think I'm in good shape but haven't been on my bike in a long time. Even riding a heavier bike (trek remedy 8) I was able to ride continuously and had a good time.

I will definitely return and met some locals who say they ride there nearly every weekend without getting bored of it.

Great Autumn hike. The Jake Mountain Trail Loop has moderate downhills and uphills. Nothing too strenuous. We encounters two Jones Creeks crossings, One was mid shin (we removed our hiking boots to cross) and the other we used rocks to cross.

Gnarly simple trail lots of hill and camp sites not much water

Went to hike this trail today but it is closed due trees down and damage from hurricane Irma.

Easy short hike. Few hills. As long as you don't have health problems it is easy walk. Went to upper falls.

This is a nice short hiking trail with two sets of water falls, the upper and lower. The upper is about .75 mi from the main placard and ends at a wooden observation deck marked by a caution sign. The trail to the left of the placard goes to the lower falls, which requires a steeper hike of about .25 mi to another deck. The trails to both falls are well maintained. Trails that are not maintained continue beyond both falls, but we did not hike them. Great trail for hikers of all ages.

Good summertime views from Wolf Laurel, Cowrock, and Wildcat. Pump filter would be better than a Sawyer for this ridge line hike.

A very nice section of the Georgia trail. No views but you won't mind since you actually get some extended flat sections.

Falls were nice. Trail is in a campground. Nice little walk. Watch out for snakes, we came across 2 along side the trail.

quiet beautiful trail.

Fun to see the waterfalls at the end. Two trails to two different falls. Both were decently easy. The shorter trail was the more strenuous, but no very long (1/4 mile) Shaded all the way on both.
