Nice hike around the lake. Beautiful views. Very hilly in some places. 2 creek crossings. Dont like having to walk beside the highway in 2 spots, traffic is very close to you. Overall not a bad hike. Best parking is at boat ramp.

Easy trail, nice falls but I’d recommend going after rains for better water flow.

Quick walk to eaither the upper or lower falls. I would rate it as easy with clearly marked paths. Wonderful hearing the water running while walking....

Great trail. The track on the map takes a slightly different route than the new route taken on the trail, but it's pretty close. I'll try to upload a correct track next time I ride this route.

Very nice trail! There are a number of trails in this area that crisscross, the trail is adequately marked with orange arrows on the metal forest service signs that are about 3 inches wide and 4 feet tall. Need to watch for them! The trail has been rerouted somewhat on the counterclockwise side. The trailhead is at the back left side of the parking area. Starts between a fence and The rooftop signboard. About 10 or 15 yards in the clockwise trail goes straight and the counterclockwise goes right, marked with Orange arrow on forest service sign.

My family and I have hiked this several times but the have always popped out before the AT turn around. Great with our dog as the trail is fairly wide throughout the hike. Great spots along the creek for day camping or hangin in yer hammock!

Great trail. Going out was somewhat of a slight incline. The rough rocky switchbacks were a challenge. Especially coming back. Ugh! Plenty of camping spots. It rained on our way beck and boy does the trail get flooded. But it is all good.

Loved it. Starts out along roadside but stick with it. Trail heads into woods and stays along creek and mountainside. Really enjoyed it. No bathroom.

We started at Hightower Gap and finished our day at Woody Gap. Our route started out pretty intense, Sassafras Mountain is no joke but it really nice.

decent trail. clean. family friendly.

Only went in two miles before turning back since this was a rehab hike for my girlfriend after back surgery. Fairly well maintained except for a short section with what looked like poison ivy on the edge of the trail and a few blowdowns (3 within 20' of each other). Some areas also look more like water runoff channels than actual trails, but still very navigable. Nice workout, as we got in 750' of elevation gain.

This trail was pretty, and we only got about two miles in before we had to turn around due to time constraints. I will say we would have enjoyed it more had it not been so buggy. There is a lot of vegetation (so not many views other than trees) and spider webs every few feet. We ended up walking with a stick in front of us and still covered in cobwebs. Perhaps a different time of year would have been better. Did not get to see the lake. I still recommend the trail though--finally pretty trees!

the amount of water coming from the mountain is based on the rain fall so sometimes this falls is pouring out water and sometimes a trickle but still a nice easy hike

Short but nice trail.

Beautiful, peaceful trail with lots of streams and little waterfalls.

It's a nice walk in the woods. It's not to long. Getting to the lower falls does have some incline, but nothing serious. The upper falls are a breeze to get to. I like the fact that it doesn't take forever. It's a good date hike. Carry a bottle of water. The Georgia humidity is crazy right now with all the rain.

Very fun and scenic trail

Great trail, very rough climb on the way back. Saw a black bear around mile 4.4 so keep a look, apparently he likes to stay around those parts. Nice campsites all over the trail (obviously, it’s the AT!) Great intermediate backpacking trail.

very well marked and maintained trail. i do advise if going hiking in the rain. the trail likes to keep alot of standing water on the marked path. other than beautiful trail.

Neither trail is closed. We went today 07/08/2018. Definitely worth seeing both falls. The upper fall is the best one and you’re able to climb up into the fall. And there are several places along the way to let kids get into the water which is cold but feels great on a hot day.

Fun trail! Hiked with my dad and a friend. Came across a copperhead on the lower part of the trail. Be extremely careful if you try to reach the higher tiers of the fall. It is very slick and straight up with no clear or easy pathway.

Great trails.

Beautiful falls and great camp grounds!

beautiful falls

Beautiful trail with surprising little vignettes to pause and take in the views. Excellent workout

This is a nice walk. It’s more like a walk through the woods vs a hike. No views or nice scenery.
