Beautiful, peaceful trail with lots of streams and little waterfalls.

It's a nice walk in the woods. It's not to long. Getting to the lower falls does have some incline, but nothing serious. The upper falls are a breeze to get to. I like the fact that it doesn't take forever. It's a good date hike. Carry a bottle of water. The Georgia humidity is crazy right now with all the rain.

It a neat short 2 mile hike to 2 small waterfalls.... 1 from the lower loop and other from the upper one.

Very fun and scenic trail

Great trail, very rough climb on the way back. Saw a black bear around mile 4.4 so keep a look, apparently he likes to stay around those parts. Nice campsites all over the trail (obviously, it’s the AT!) Great intermediate backpacking trail.

very well marked and maintained trail. i do advise if going hiking in the rain. the trail likes to keep alot of standing water on the marked path. other than beautiful trail.

Neither trail is closed. We went today 07/08/2018. Definitely worth seeing both falls. The upper fall is the best one and you’re able to climb up into the fall. And there are several places along the way to let kids get into the water which is cold but feels great on a hot day.

While to waterfall was beautiful it was not a walk in the park. You have to climb down an unofficial trail to get to see the waterfall at all. Also it’s a loop style trail but everything past the rappelling wall was so overgrown it wasn’t possible to walk.

Fun trail! Hiked with my dad and a friend. Came across a copperhead on the lower part of the trail. Be extremely careful if you try to reach the higher tiers of the fall. It is very slick and straight up with no clear or easy pathway.

Great trails.

Beautiful falls and great camp grounds!

beautiful falls

Beautiful trail with surprising little vignettes to pause and take in the views. Excellent workout

This is a nice walk. It’s more like a walk through the woods vs a hike. No views or nice scenery.

No switchbacks a lot of straight up and down and not much reward for the effort.
but it is well maintained.

Trail was easy to find. The porta potty had a sign on it that said due to lack of donation they are unable to keep up with the maintenance. Started walking the trail, and it was very pleasant, but NOT clearly marked. There are no trees marked in between trail markers and it is very easy to end up off course. We ended up miles off the loop turning a 9 mile loop into a 13.5 mile hike before we finally called forestry because we were running out of light.

it's open

Sure was pretty! and hard too!

This trail is no longer closed. It was an excellent hike, with waterfalls, creeks, elevation, and views.

Fantastic very diverse trail system. Time flies while hiking it. Lots of surprises along the way.

Trail is open (3/31/18).

The trail hasn't been taken care of from what I could see. Used the recorded trail map given and it was difficult to follow due to no cell service (you have to buy pro to use offline). Got lost a few times due to the lack of upkeep (fallen trees) on the trail and there were multiple pathways from the main trail. There is also a Ranger area that was restricted near the trail. Also, if you're okay with your shoes getting wet or taking off your shoes, you cross the river on this hike. Didn't get to complete the entire trail due to the sun setting and it raining on us halfway. Aside from that, it was beautiful and would definitely go back to clear up the trail and try again.

had an awesome time fishing over the summer. beautiful lake.

12-3-17 Parked at the TrailHead just beyond the DLT campground. Walked passed closed signs and hiked up to the AT then left and headed south to Woody Gap.
No reason for this trail to still be "closed" it was safe smooth sailing all the way to the top. You can definitely see where the blowdowns are but they have been removed from the path of the trail. Plenty of creek/river crossings to get (filtered) water. Beautiful woods for the whole hike. Did a shuttle from point A to B.
If you want to hike this trail, I'd say do it. I went through without any problems.
Happy Hiking!!

Good easy/moderate hike to just be outside. Trail was in decent shape but no views. No indication in description that we would have to cross a creek. Found a tree that had fallen across upstream & climbed over that way.

Didn’t hike too far in . We were just checking out the area and went in about half a mile or so. Looks like good views as you walk along the flank of the mountain Trail is open. You just have to access it from the campground area instead of the day use area. Just wanted to share.

Trail still closed from hurricane damage. Went to hike this weekend up to preacher rock. Had to adjust plan but all had great time. Just wanted everyone to know.
