I hiked this today with my ten year old and her friend. This was my first hike in over ten years (embarrassing) so I can’t really reference the difficulty level. I can say the kids kept up well and it had some amazing views of the place I’m blessed to call home ❤️ Can’t wait to hike more trails like this one!

Hiked with my family 2/16/19. Fantastic hike, great views. Very steep in some areas. Similar to Blood Mountain but not as much of a consistent grinding climb- Mount Yonah had more gradual climbs and more level areas. Great hike, will definitely do it again!

Not much in the way of views, but a beautiful and peaceful section of the AT. I would not rate it as hard. My 12 year old daughter and I powered through the first 10 miles. The last 4 miles had some moderate climbs, but nothing too challenging.

Somehow got lost my first time, I think I was just really enjoying my music and following a family that went off trail. Went up for the second time today and it's well-marked. Though over an hour away, it'll be in my monthly rotation. I would say this is moderate, not hard if in decent shape- some rocks but only takes 45 minutes or so with moderate pace going up and a bit faster or slower getting down depending on your knees. Steep in some parts but not unbearable. Consider it a 20 minute longer version of Stone Mountain. Not much folks when I went the first time, it was cold, but the parking lot was full today. Bring your tissue and sani for the potty.

Really great hike - definitely wear the right shoes and bring plenty of water (which lots of people on the trail hadn't done). Was pretty crowded but the views at the top were great and the summit had enough viewpoints that everyone could spread out. Will definitely come back

Hiked this last friday with a friend and our 7 children, ages 4-11. Had to carry the little ones on a couple sections. They all did great, it was crazy windy. So super cold, but overall enjoyable experience

I tried to hike this trail on Saturday from Testnatee Gap, mostly out of curiosity.I wasn’t sure if I should just follow the old roadbed because there were no markings! The “trail” was overgrown, uneven, and a real challenge! I made it about 8 tenths of a mile before turning back! I’ve had a knee replacement & orthroscopic surgery and was afraid my knees couldn’t handle it, given the uneven nature of the trail! I’ve managed fine on other trails! I’ve had bushwhacking trips that were easier going! Made it back to the top but my knees are still killing me! This might be a great trail with an amazing history but needs some serious trail maintenance! Let me know if I can help! Now it’s time to put more Joint Flex on my aching knees!

Flipping awesome views and a great workout!

I wouldn't recommend this trail for kids under 6 . pretty tiring for a toddler and very worrying when getting on a crowded part of the trail. The view is awesome . Some hiker camp over night also will see some drinker on the trail along the way . but overall it been an awesome hike I would come again. My son and I had an awesome time . it easy at the beginning then it get harder as you go up .

Been a couple times. Fun trip. Dog friendly and beautiful. Make sure you leave with plenty of time to make it down while it’s lit. Got a bit lost when the sun went down

I hiked from Unicoi Gap to Spaniards Nob over Blue Mtn and back to Unicoi Gap. Trail is steep up to Blue Mtn and very muddy today. Still remains of ice on and around the trail. Very rocky in spots. 60 degrees today and perfect day to hike. On the AT the entire way.

Wonderful hike for all ages. Gradual climb for the first mile then a steep climb that leads to more gradual climbs. Rocky areas and in winter some ice, snow and mud but the views are worth it. Parking gets full quickly on weekends so best to start early. Pack a lunch, bring a hammock and relax at the top and enjoy the views.

Went 2 weeks ago. Rain was coming Saturday so I didn't think I'd get to backpack. Got out early-ish on Friday. grabbed my gear and went. Got to trailhead about 4pm. Hiked to CowRock and found a cozy and sheltered spot and parked it for the night. Trail was in good shape overall. some ice and mud but not terrible. one washed out area with a downed tree about 1 mile up. Great night and awesome drive to Vogel State Park next morning. Exactly the reset I needed. Go!

The trail will seem very easy at the beginning, but don’t worry it will get harder. Also there was ice at some spots near the summit, so be careful if you plan to hike it during the winter. The view is amazing and worth it.

Hiked to the first overlook with a 5 & 9 year old. It was very difficult for them due to the mud and rocks. The overlook was very well kept & great visibility.

Awesome hike. The first half of the trail isn’t too strenuous. However, there are parts on the second half that do get tough. It’s hard rating lived up to its name. The view at the top is absolutely worth it. My only complaint was that the trail was not marked well, so use this app to help guide you

I will start off by saying maybe this issue was because of the government shut down and having no forest rangers. However, this trail was being used by squirrel hunters and there were people hunting right off the parking lot for the trail head. WE COULD SEE THEM SHOOTING FROM THE TRAIL HEAD! Needless to say this was a 3 hour round trip wasted because we didn’t feel safe hiking with so many (obviously irresponsible) people shooting that close to the trail.

On top as I type.... trail in good shape, and lives up to it’s difficult rating (but I’m not use to hiking). Would definitely recommend

Hiked this while visiting the area last week and absolutely loved it. Hiking this in winter time was great because we had perfect weather (50s and rain held off) and we didn't see another person the whole time up or down the trail. We hiked a mile up to the scenic outlook on rocks that others talked about. Absolutely beautiful views. We brought our dog and he loved it and had an easy time too. It is a little steep but well worth the view up top. Also loved going in Jan because trees are bare so you can see off the mountain the whole time while hiking - probably different views in summer when foliage is full. Definitely recommend!

TOUGH run up! 2.5 to top. 2.5 back down. 4.2 is inaccurate if you follow the neon green blaze (as per Fitbit GPS which is almost pinpoint accurate for distance)

Hiked this area of Logan turnpike for the last 25 years--NEED SUPPORT FOR THIS!!!
went to hike the logan turnpike trail last weekend and the road was closed with a national forest gate with private signs on it!!! The signs said this was a private road -WHOOO!! This road is a "public access road" to the national forest and should not be closed by a private party just because he bought some land near the national forest. Contacted the white county law enforcement , national forest officer and the white county news paper and asked the same questions and still waiting for a reply-hope it is positive answer to open the road to access the hiking area or I'll go higher!!

This trail started out pretty easy. Open woods, smooth path and easy to follow. When it starts getting into the incline is where it gets a little more difficult with a rocky path. We went on a Saturday around 11am and by the time we got back to the car it was around 1:30pm the parking lot was packed. We were also hiking with a dog. There were a lot of other dogs, some off leash and on. All and all, great hike with beautiful views. pictures uploaded
