Well maintained and easy to walk. a couple of recently downed trees have been cleared out of the trail.

Definitely rocky but great variety of terrain and view at the summit.

Such a beautiful park, just wish dogs were allowed.

I agree with the prior review that this would be better rated as a moderate trail, due to the incline. Also, all the markers are for Jack's Knob, this is just a smaller portion of that larger trail. Park at the sign for Brasstown Bald Visitor Center on the corner of 180 and the road to Brasstown, then cross 180 and the trailhead is next to the sign that says "speed checked by detection devices." There are no markers to indicate when you have gone 1.25 miles to turn around, so if you want that distance just go to the valley and then turn around. The actual Brookshire Top is only about a mile in, and that does not have a marker either. We only saw one other person, it was very quiet. Be prepared for one creek to walk through and some narrow areas.

Posted everywhere as 12.7 mi, actual distance is 14.5+ miles if you start/end at trailhead in Vogel SP, and the elevation gain is 4,000. Beautiful in Feb with 4" snow, and some very nice views.

I would recommend this trail only to experienced hiker as it’s very rocky and strenuous. I went for snow hike and it’s was lot of snow, there was difficulty to find the trail path, but overall it was super fun to hike this trail. View from the top is amazing and worth the hike

Amazing! Even better while snowing. Views weren't the best they could be but still worth it!

Very good workout! Be prepared for all uphill on the way out, and all downhill on the way back. The view at Blood Mountain was blocked by heavy clouds when I went, but it started to snow on me, which was pretty cool! Shelter at Blood was way more busy than I anticipated, even for early February.

Lots of rocks, I did freeman first then went to the summit.

late review my wife and I hiked this Jan 6. The very beginning is steep but very easy to step. The views are spectactular at the top. Once you begin the Freemon Loop back around there are lots of small rocks on the path. Makes for a slower pace because you have to carefully step to avoid turning an ankle.

Loved this trail. went the freman side up and i think that was the easist. less people on that side. ver peacfeul. hiked on 1-26 Sunday and there were alot of people up top...so trail down wasnt as peacful.

Great hike today, a difficult but rewarding experience, it starting snowing when we reached the summit, it was awesome. highly recommended for people who know what they are getting into. very rocky

This trail is a waste of time, the views arent even that good for the effort and if you hike down the the hieroglyphs you'll be utterly crushed to find out you could have just driven there and have to go back up many switchbacks. Pick another trail with better views for this amount of effort. p.s. this is coming from someone who has hiked over 20 miles of trail a day so dont think I'm just a pussy who thinks this is hard.

nice water around a man made lake and waterfalls. i did this and helen falls to kill some time waiting for the fog to clear at brasstown lookout tower
