This is an access road linked to a paved drive. Its great for a flat trail run.

Very nice walk but I prefer trails with no car accessibility. Lots of places to look at water and bird lookout is amazing in the evening!

Beautiful and very interesting. Great picture opportunities.

This is such a beautiful place. The only problem is that way too many people know about it. I have never been here when it was not busy.

I don't know what to add to what the other reviewers already said. This is a beautiful place with a lot to see and do.

We were only able to hike for about 30 or 40 min. Made it to the lookout tower and a few more yards before we had to head back to pack the car. The only wild life we saw were the fiddler crabs. I was able to get very close to them by standing still and moving a bit and standing still and moving bit. The best sight was the Tricolor heron the the way to the lookout tower.

The walk along the Indigo Trail was filled with many species of birds. I was with a group birding and we spotted at least 30 different types. It was amazing.

When we lived in Florida this a frequent place to go kayaking and sight seeing. There were always plenty of birds to see and so much sea life. Sometimes it can get a little busy. But none the less, it is beautiful and also great place to take the family.

Though short, this kayak trail was a lot of fun. The water was never more than 4feet deep and was clear the whole way. We saw plenty of fish, crabs, and birds. Definitely worth the rental price of the kayaks.

wish we had come earlier in the morning. a bit crowded for my birding taste. great viewing of ospreys. the new QR code itrail is a great tech use except placement in direct sun made my smartphone create a shadow on the code - making it unable to read all but the 1st sign. including the web address along with the code would have enabled me to access the site by typing it.

This trail is an out-and-back that costs $2 per person. The trail head is located at the main entrance of the Darling grounds. Not very scenic but we saw an Alligator. Lots of bikers and walkers of all ages.

You could spend days observing the wildlife here! White-sanded shorelines boast shells, sand dollars, conch, starfish, fish and shrimp (shake out a piece of seaweed to get a good glimpse!) and emerald green waters lay host to dolphin families jumping against the vast skyline--and that's not even CONSIDERING the land! Wear beach shoes and sunscreen. Bring your camera. Don't rush through this one.

Been to sanibel 4 different time for week long vacations. Love this place has everything from sea kayaking, shelling, hiking, or just enjoying the ocean. Ding Darling is a must go to spot while on the island.

Went to the JN 'Ding' Darling wildlife preserve...a MUST do for anyone interested in birds! Many short trails to walk and the main 'wildlife' road through the park is excellent ! WARNING: it is closed on Fridays! While on Sanibel, hit the beaches too as they are some of the best in Fl. The 'Watertower' beach tends to be crowed, but the City Park and Bowman's beach are much less so. Sunset's from Bowman's Beach are spectacular, but bring a light coat as it gets very cool after sunset. Birding here is good too with lots of sandpipers and a variety of gulls to photograph and observe.

One of the best areas in the country for birds. You may also see aligators, sting rays and dolphins.
