Easy, mostly level hike through old hardwood and pine forest. Gradually drops to a marshy area crossed on elevated railroad ties then at 2.5 miles, crosses a narrow wooden bridge over Dean Creek, a cold clear stream that flows year-round. A slight uphill takes you to Dean Camp (about 1/4 mile). The site has a fire pit and two benches and could support several small tents scattered about.Show more

Length: 6 mi • Est. 2 h 26 m
Starts at the East Bay river boat ramp parking lot. First 1/2 mile is on pavement through a neighborhood. The end of Nelda street brings you to Eglin AFB property; don't forget your Jackson Guard range pass. This next section circles around behind a large landfill and then crosses River Rd., a good alternative start point. The remainder of the trail is in pine forest and fairly level to the Dean Campsite.Show more
