A nice relaxing walk usually ... but if it has been rainy make sure to wear LOTS of insect repellent, as the mosquitoes here seem to be extra bad. Don’t see wildlife very often but I usually go here for exercise rather than wildlife viewing.

It’s a nice walk through the woods of Naples. Not hard at all. The trails and bridges are well kept and clean. You can enter greenway via the main entrance or by the airport. The main entrance is the prettiest.

Went in March and there weren’t any mosquitos. This trail is interesting. It’s an out and back with a loop in the middle. It crosses train tracks and has a couple of bridges. Mostly covered though a small portion is open. I would imagine this trail wouldn’t be good for trail running because majority of the trail ground has unearthed tree roots. Kid friendly. Brought my 3 and 4 year old and they did okay.

Great palms & not much people

I just spoke to a ranger at the park. The trail is closed at this time due to a large wildfire in the Picayune State Forest nearby, and only about 2 miles of trail are open, due to hurricane damage from Irma, and there is no timeline of when the trail will be restored.

A nice little gem of a trail... well maintained and clean. A little of everything to see along the way. Quiet and peaceful. Will be going again!

Abundant wildlife. Massive gators. Nice hike

Excellent trail - the observation tower makes journeying out here completely worthwhile. The bird watching is truly special, particularly at dusk. Often spot plenty of alligators too.

Alligators, birds and some Bear scat, interesting walk!

With very nice board walks and an abundance of wildlife, this is a great place to walk, bike, or jog.

For walking, don't bother with the southern end (the end adjoining the airport). The southern end would be fine for biking, but there's no nearby parking. Instead, if you're looking for a hike, go to the northern end, just off of Golden Gate Parkway. There you'll find a decent walk on a wide paved path. Better yet is the short boardwalk at the northern end.

Bring your bug sray. mosquitoes galore. Just ok. No wildlife.

not much to see today just a leisurely walk. Not a very Scenic Trail.

I remember lots of mosquitoes any time you got in the shade.
And collecting wild air plants.

Walked part of this trail (Trail Map 1-3 & 3-6) and couldn't have been happier with the wildlife! Seeing as it is January 13th the path was dry and there were a ton of baby alligators. We say 10 large and 58 small ones, along with birds, raccoons, fish, snakes, and butterflies.

So many mosquitoes! Besides that it was beautiful.

This trail actually goes from Lake to Lake for around 8 miles one way (my track is just the first mile out and back). The lakes are largely connected by mangrove tunnels which are very cool to go through. In the middle of the first Lake is an island where 100's and 100's of bird roost at sundown. To see this you have to be there as the sun sets. Lots of alligators in that lake which makes for a very safe bird habitat in the evening. You are not allowed to paddle toward the island (there's a fine for doing so if caught). The worry is it may spook the birds away. You can float by it though.
Parking after unloading is out of the way on the dirt road (don't block anyone else), or on the side of Hwy 41. The entrance to the dirt road that leads to the boat launch is at Lat 25.9320 Long -81.4437. The dirt road is maybe 1/2 block long, and then your at the Lake. Best to call ahead to Fakahatchee Strand Preserve in Copeland at (239) 695-4593 to find out the exact rules for usage. A few local commercial companies use this area.

I was out here with the research center trawling and collecting specimens. This area is so unique and beautiful. There were dolphins, birds of prey, and many other wonders of wildlife everywhere in the bay. Loved my time here

We rented a canoe and paddled around the river and inland waterways at Rookery bay. Scenic and relaxing, we saw lots of wildlife on our tour.

It was ok. The trail was Not clearly marked. Still not sure if we biked the whole thing or if we missed a part if it. You have to go to the State park entrance and pay $5 for a parking tag then, the park ranger will tell you how to get there.

Be sure to avoid this trail in the rainy season or after a storm. Bring bug spray, it's a swamp walk. It's alright. It's a good trail to just day hike or to build up for a harder trail.

We have hiked this trail twice now. The first time was January 1, 2011. The trail had been overgrown and VERY difficult to navigate. The "map" given at the ranger's station was inadequate to say the least.
We are 4 moderately experienced hikers and this took us 6 hrs to walk, stumble, crawl, and fall down. We agreed that this was one of the most difficult trails that we had been on. The reviews say that this is easy it needs to be bumped up.
The ranger told us the a team that takes care of clearing and marking it was snowed in and didn't make it down.
Now, 11 months, and some days, we went back. The team still had not shown up and it was worse. We did half the trail (the upland pine Forrest) in 2 hours. But still had to hack and find our way.

This would be a great adventure for anyone of moderate or better experience. But do not take a novice and make sure up bring plenty of water and bug repellent as both are just as vital as for getting you out!!
