Great trail if you want a really nice relaxing walk in the woods. No frills, ponds, etc, but some wildlife sighting. Minimal traffic.

Great trail! There are definitely some rocky and sandy sections, but most of the trail is easy terrain and it’s well marked. The loss of a star is because there’s a large section (maybe 1/4 of the trail?) that is very close to the road, and there’s a lot of road noise (and today, some very loud rap music :)) But the other sections are quiet and peaceful. There’s a bit of elevation, too, and some cool winding paths. Yes there are bugs, but it’s Florida in the summer y’all. Overall a very nice hike!

A beautiful trail. Went early morning. Just don’t forget bug spray!!

Nice but got lost easily. Most of the creek was dried up and also lots of bugs. Otherwise, a good way to get a lot of mileage if you’re down to go through all the side trails.

Nice shady trail through town.

This is such a pretty trail! There are wooden bridges over the marshy/swampy areas. It’s fairy crowded as one might expect from a trial that has several openings (each with parking!) that open up into residential areas. For a trail in Florida, it’s remarkably non-buggy. It’s an easy walk with great views of the creek (though no swimming or wading is allowed).

I’ve hiked this trail a bunch, this was the first time it was completely dry & there were no wet spots. Usually there’s some treacherous off path navigating depending on how flooded it is. Caveat, I came across an easily 5’ diamondback in the middle of the trail & almost jogged over it, you definitely need to be on your toes & leave your puppy at home till it cools off again.

Nice well manicured trail but short for running. No dogs allowed due to alligators. Also entrances from Bigens cove

This place is a true Gainesville gem! There's always wildlife activity to observe on this trail. There's a huge variety of birds that live in this area as well as other animals such as: alligators, snakes, fish mice, and the occasional horse or deer. The trail is very easy to complete. Make sure to bring a bottle of water.

Very nice views of wetlands that are very healthy and populated with both flora and fauna. A lot of ppl out there even during the virus but park rangers worked hard to maintain distancing between quests. The actual trails (that were open) were very flat and either small white gravel or paved. Lots of nature photography enthusiasts out there. Nice place.

I visited her for the first time with my family. It was a beautiful walk. There were several types of birds and lots of gators.

Great trail for seeing gators, cool birds, and so much more. It’s an easy walk and the trail has free sunscreen and water. I typically see at least 20-30 gators when walking the trail. Overall amazing experience. The trail is also free at the time, I’m assuming because the events were canceled due to the corona virus.

went from trail head to water and back to beginning

So, social distancing has lead me to the gem of a trail, since the trails near my home are currently closed! This trail was a absolute pleasure to ride. I started at the Prairie Creek Preserve Trail head and rode towards Gainesville. Went as far as the Lake Alachua overlook. I saw lots of little critters, a snake up in a tree, rabbits, and a young turtle. There are some small hills, but overall a great trail for most level of bikers, walkers and runners. There is lots of shade also. The only down side is there are not many porta potties, the ones that are there seem to have not been kept up lately. I can't wait to come back again.

Makes for an exciting mountain biking trip. Trail is clearly marked out. I followed the orange blaze trail to the creek. Riding the bike on top of the wooden planks through the cypress swamp is awesome.

Light traffic, great hike The creek could really use a clean up. Moderate fauna. Found some sort of fossilized bone , if anyone wants to I.D it for me

Beautiful hike! Some of the trail is a little overgrown. Still fun though!
