The park is lovely. The AllTrails map is awful. I tried locating the "Trailhead" which lead me to a field and no parking. I drove to the Northeast on San Mateo drive, and found that the marked trail follows absolutely no trail at all. No other trails are marked even though the park is full of named trails. The southern part of the hike resembles the "drunkard's walk" (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/drunkards-walk-leonard-mlodinow/1100995682#/). It meanders aimlessly around in circles. There is nothing, but a grass field and no trail.

Well-maintained and kid friendly wide trails

Love this beach and the preserve. Nice to kayak off the causeway as well. Great place for sunsets.

Beautiful little park with lots of wildlife. Also has a frisbee golf course. Loved living right down the road from here. Great dog walk.

Incredibly beautiful! Saw 3 turtles, huge bird on a branch watching everything. Probably an Osprey. Saw another huge bird fly over carrying an 8” fish! Must have been an Uber bird, or an Eagle. Very well marked, plenty of benches, great hike!

Have been here multiple times. I do nature photography and have yet to be disappointed. It's definitely worth the entrance fee and time.

it's ok if you take a compass with you. got lost many times. where there are maps it should say YOU are here! ill never go back . too many nicer easier parks to enjoy

Love it. More wildlife than expected!

A very easy hike through the island. Lots of great nature to enjoy. The best part was ending up on the beach! Would have liked to see more Gulf views along the way but overall a truly enjoyable hike good for all ages.

This website says it has a map but it doesn't.

Great mix of hard packed, grass and sand. Once out of the trails the roads and parking lots are wide open. Great place for a running or bike workout and follow it up with some chill time at the beach.

The trail is a pretty easy loop. MAKE SURE YOU BRING BUG SPRAY!! We were warned before hand but didn’t put it on before we set off, literally 30 seconds from the car I was swamped by the critters, I’ve never experienced anything like it!! So after dousing ourselves in spray we set off! Great for wildlife spotting, we saw an armadillo and about 4 tortoises, as well as several ospreys. The end of the loop is blocked off ‘for conservation’, which we didn’t quite get, until we looked and about 100 yards away is a bald eagle nest, which at the time had the pair of eagles in. An epic moment and one that I doubt I will see again in a long time, I would recommend this hike for that alone!

Loved walking here! It was very serene and had tons of vegetation and small animals (mostly birds, frogs, and the like). Make sure to bring bug spray!

Love this park! We're here all the time my wife, 2 dogs, and I play disk golf and hike these trails frequently. park is always clean. It has a 9 hole disk golf course, one set of restrooms, canoe/kayak launch a huge trail and sub trails. One of our favorite saturday hangout spots.

Great trails on north end of island. Osprey are everywhere. Eagles come late fall.

Nice, easy trails for all skill levels. Was able to photograph two bald eagles, multiple ospreys, and a great horned owl. Guided tours of the trails are available most weekends. Overall great place for a few hours of hiking and photography.

A wonderful state park that encompasses most of the island...located just north of Clearwater Beach, but much less crowded. It has a beautiful beach that you can spend a while exploring. You can combine the interior trails for a very nice three mile loop with great views of Pelican Cove and Saint Joseph Sound and lots of wildlife. I saw many osprey and a couple nests, pelicans, gopher tortoise and armadillo. Don't forget the bug spray for the trails.

Absolutely love this park! Easy trails and all in nature. The best thing is that most of the trails are covered in shade.

Very nice, two eaglets(part of trail was blocked so you didn't disturb them), & great Horned Owlet, along with numerous osprey & a couple of Downey woodpeckers.

Beautiful doesn't begin to describe this place! You have trails, sitting areas, shells all over, and the beach of course! For an extra fee you can even ride a ferry over to another island and have a little more seclusion and some larger sheels to find as well! Very serene in the off season, as for the summer, well, I hope you like busy, lol!

We just walked from north Clearwater to Caladesi and it wasn't too bad. (We're not extremely active, but generally fit..) We parked in a public lot by Bay Esplanade and Eldorado, and proceeded to walk a few blocks to a public access point on the gulf side of the island near Juniper and Eldorado. We were hesitant because of the lack of information online but it turned out well! The walk was nice in the early morning, and we kayaked through the mangrove trail on Caladesi Island; this was a little disappointing because of the thickness of the trail and the water had some odor from being somewhat stagnant, but overall it was a really fun bit of exercise. Everything was well-marked on Caladesi, and from the beach to kayak rental was only maybe 10 minutes. Hiking, waiting, kayaking (3mi), and hiking back all took roughly 7 hours, but could easily be done in 5 or 6. One last note, if you go early and want to rent kayaks, be prepared to wait as the kayaks are rented out by a company that comes in on the first ferry about 10:30.

Growing up in the Bay area, Honeymoon Island is a place where I have spent a great deal of time. There is no shortage of scenic views nor a diversity of wildlife. Look around for osprey nests! This is a super easy area to get some good exercise. You can run or walk or canoe around the island.

Have fun!
