We took my 60+ parents and our 9, 6 year old. We had a great time and were impressed with the elevation level for Florida. The only down side was the trail was right by the road taking away some of the illusion of being off in nature.

Visiting near Jacksonville and Trail app directed me here. Met some hikers finishing up and recommended white/yellow trails. Nice trails meandering in woods/along creek. Easy hike with a mixture of sand and pine floors.
Evidence of horses, nice wide trails. Plenty of room for animals and man
These trails were tucked away and glad I found it on the Trails app

This park was a development project that was shut down by the government because of endangered habitat. The path was the road going in to the neighborhood. Looks like the road was intentionally torn up. Two loops. Long loop seems to always be closed. No park staff.

This is now one of my favorite trails.

I stopped here on my way home from work. Found a beautiful lookout on the Myakka River and enjoyed a brisk walk under the tree canopies.

I biked the Panther Point Trail. Really nice trail to mountain bike. A lot of great scenery along Lake Hancock. It dead ends at the 5 mile marker so it's approximately 10 miles round-trip. The gators were abundant today and many varieties of birds along the shoreline.

I really enjoyed this walk. The lake was beautiful. Enjoyed a lunch with my girlfriend.

I gotta say: this was a nice hike. When I went it was cold and rainy and pretty much the worst weather other than a full on storm, but it was a very easy hike and it was cool to see horseshoe crabs, fish, and large snails around the coastline. Definitely bring snacks and plenty of water because it’s certainly a long one.

Trail bridges are closed on the paved portion and trees have fallen and blocked the path through the woods... very disappointing

Nice day for a hike. We saw a pileated woodpecker and a wild pig.

Absolutely NO parking anywhere

it's ok if you take a compass with you. got lost many times. where there are maps it should say YOU are here! ill never go back . too many nicer easier parks to enjoy

Was a very small park, we hiked and explored the entire park in under 2 hours, but was very beautiful. Helpful hint, in order to see the falls you must go on a day after a rain.

Great palms & not much people

nice little nature trail. near where Menendez slaughtered the French.

no place quite like St Augustine. posts of history and so much to see and do.

The lake and the history on dugout canoes are both more than worth the hike.

This map is wrong.

The trail itself isn’t stellar.. basically a dirt road with cow pasture on one side and woods on the other. The trail doesn’t follow the creek or view the Lake Norris. But! about 3 miles in there’s a nice view of another lake that’s well worth the walk. It’s man made by an old sand mine and is beginning to fill in with aquatic plants and some native plants around the edges. Not much to see here and the path/road is sugar sand that’s been roughed up by horse traffic.

You’re probably better off saving this one for a kayak or canoe trip around Lake Norris, which is what the map is showing.

Not much of a hike, just a walk. But the ruins are beautiful.

Nice trail, however I recommend doing during the week... weekends get pretty busy!

Hiked a combination of Yellow and Green trails due to Blue being temporarily closed to rid the area of Southern Pine Beetle outbreak.
Small hills and change of terrain was nice.

We drove up and parked. If you're not a pass holder, you'll need to get an envelope from the deposit box and leave $3. Tear off the stub and hang on your rearview mirror. I took one of my dogs on a Friday morning around 0930. We saw maybe 4 bikers. The paved trail is awesome. Lots of room for bikers to go around you. We walked about 2 miles and took a right and walked another .5 miles to the "beach side" where lots of downed trees are. It's sandy and very beautiful. People started flocking to the area around 11am. Clean, lots of trees and bushery. This will be a regular place to take my dogs for a nice and relaxing walk.

Love it. More wildlife than expected!

Great easy trail with something new to see every day. Many side trails not listed on map that bring you easily back to the main path.

They made some really nice improvements to this trail. One of my favorite in Gainesville. Enough to be challenging and fun. Downhill speed by marker 6 on top of hill is sweet!

Excellent views. Weekends can start to get busy; only 3 cars Sat AM, but by noon upon departure there was 30 cars in the parking area. This trail write up should be updated as it is not "lightly" traveled. Regardless, well worth a visit. I've noted a few folks recommending to use go clockwise on the loop to have cooler wind by the trails end. Much of the trail is shaded. Just be careful if you tend to fatigue early, as the river edge portion of the trail has more roots and requires more strength/agility.

Not your typical Florida hike. Being from S Florida I am used to flat, sandy, scrub hiking. Torreya was great. Reminded me of out west with the hills and streams. I found it very
strenuous. Total elev. changes of 1600 feet.
Nicely marked trail. Cute little bridges.
Lots of up and down. Didn't see any wildlife and only 2 other hikers. Started at the picnic area.
Definitely recommend this hike if you want a challenge and enjoy the beauty of forest hiking.

Interesting, short walk. To visit for a view of the remains of Bellamy Bridge, it makes for a nice outing. Very easy going walk, and a short distance to Chipola River. As of today, March 10, 2018, the wooden bridge used to cross a stream has collapsed, and dangerous if wet. Logs have also been thrown down to aid in getting onto the bridge, which adds to the risk of injury.

In times of recent flooding, bring mosquito spray and/or ankle weights, or you may very well be carried away.

I liked that it was short due to being somewhat handicapped. I really enjoyed reading the informational plaques.
