This really isn't a trail or a hike. It's a park celebrating the highest point in Florida, thus the reason for my visit. Loved checking another high point off the list (and the lowest of all 50 high points), but I don't think I'll be back.

A trip you have to make if you want to get all 50 high points :) and a nice little pit stop on the way to the beach!

There is a short 0.7 mile nature trail that loops around Florida's high point. No perceivable elevation change. Dense understory. Picnic shelters and a small wetland.

We had been to Ft. Walton Beach so we decided to stop here on the way home. Many signs on roads in the area point you to here. Reaching this high point is a matter of parking your car and walking 20 yds or so to the monument. However, word is to reach the actual Florida high point, you have to go on the trail in the woods to the SW of the picnic shelter.

Worth doing because it is a state high point even though their are buildings in Miami taller than this peak lol. But certainly nothing special. You drive right up to the highest peak, and then their are just a few short trails around the park that you could do to atleast say you hiked the highest peak. As expected, it is our least favorite high point hike yet. But I will say that Florida has done better then some other states and has a nice sign and monument talking about the peak.

It's a great historical area!

This high point is basically overlooking a field. You cannot tell your even on the highest point but would make a nice stop for a meal or something like that.

Very nice day trip. Went with Brian Rucker with the West Florida Historical Society. During Christmas the circle is lit with decorations.

Worth doing because it is a state high point. Not strenuous or long, you actually drive up to the parking lot, the high point is right there and they have a little 1.5 mi. nature walk around it.
