there is no shade. I do not recommend on a hot sunny Florida afternoon. Even with plenty of water I thought my husband was going to have to carry me out. Lots of gators to see so that is fun.

Nice hike, but came home covered in ticks! :-(

There are a lot of little hiking only trails you can take! They are pretty but it’s can be hard to navigate back to the main trail so just be careful! If you want to take the little trails I suggest looking at the map they have posted at the front

We hiked from Joshua Creek trailhead toward the Orlando Wetlands. I did not do the full loop, we went in 3 miles in and turned around and came back. This portion of the trail is mostly shaded which is most welcome here in Florida and the terrain is varied. We did not see any wildlife. Like most trails is Florida it was pretty flat but it was beautiful and I highly recommend especially if you live in the area.

Trail didn’t have many views, and there wasn’t much tree cover so prepare for the beating sun. Easy walk though.

This should not be a loop. Just call it an out and back and call it a day. FT portion is a 4; pasture is a 2. Had a run-in with a bull and that wasn’t much fun scampering over uneven terrain and avoiding cow pies. Plus, THERE IS NO TRAIL AND NO TRAIL MARKINGS once you reach 50 (if you start clockwise). However, we ran into an elevated trail on the other side of barbed wire fencing and were rewarded with a fabulous wetland area in our way back. Tons of gators, egrets, irises.

This trail is beautiful! It takes you through different terrain so you get to experience a little bit of everything. Heavy shade through a lot of the trail, some parts there isn’t. I would recommend this trail when it is not rainy. It’s been pretty dry the last couple of months but if it were rainy I could see how there may be a lot of mud and flood planes.

Best example of florida flora and fona you will find

It’s a very easy trail since all of is technically a road. There’s no shade what so ever so come prepared. Great for the bird watchers and lost of other wildlife

OK for me taking the open trail to the little to the right would be the way to go. Go through all the cow pastures 1st period then you get the woods on the way back. It wasn't to money just not that great walking through the cow pastures.

The trail takes you from palm forest with twisted oaks covered with air plants to open sawgrass.

Awesome trail during this time of year. But I don’t think I can recommend it during regular Florida sun season, no shade at all. I suspect that this trail would be enjoyed by mountain bikers as well when the soil dries up. Alligators, deers, vultures, etc; all kinds of wildlife and great place to take out your professional cameras. Great swampland views as well. This trail branches out pretty wide with awesome landmarks and benches all throughout.

I started walking following the blue markers to the orange. Orange markers to the blue connectors (East)and then south on the white markers all the way to meet orange. Orange north and the west on blue back to the car. This trail was basically deserted. Not one person in sight on a cloudy 70F windy day. Tons of horse crap even on the “hikers” only trail. Lots of boars prints where muddy. About 2/3 of the trails was flooded. About a foot of water.

Do not hike this as a loop. The Florida Trail parts (the bottom half or from 6 to 8 o’clock and 6 to 3 o’clock if the trailhead is at 6) are well maintained and a decent section to do as out and backs. The only downside is the preponderance of “cowpies” hurts the vibe and makes it a definite no go for little ones. The top section (from about 9 to 3 o’clock) is a combination of dirt and service roads and horse trails (there was a 2 mile section that was freshly bulldozed adding ugly to boring). It was a definite downer on a 60 degree clear sky day. This may be the first time that during a hike I was thinking maybe I should have gone to the gym and done the treadmill and stair master.

Part of the Florida Trail

nice, easy drive with wildlife such as flowers and gators. 4x4 is suggested due to mud and sugar sand is some places. there is a walk way around a lake that was very nice.

Cow flops. Lots of Cow Flops on this trail. Not sure how this works on Nature Conservancy Land, but it looks like it was damaging this area (i wonder if the cows are passing antibiotics along with their manure) Otherwise - an amazing trail - use lots of bug spray. Probably best in the dry months (Nov.-Feb.)

super cool easy trail saw lots of alligators which is what I wanted and tons of different birds.

Excellent and beautiful park for birding and nature. Many alligators and wonderful birds live in this park. Depending on the time of day you might find a tree that has a little shade but otherwise bring the sunscreen, water and hats as it is very open. Trails are great for a peaceful bike ride or hike.
