Love it, just have problems with lines on bridge, makes me dizzy.

I enjoy this walk because you can walk or bike along the Delaware river it is a nice walk but is very short and flat.

Very nice path along the Brandywine creek. It is mostly flat because you are along the riverbank the whole time.

Walked it many times. Nothing spectacular but not bad either.

Nice trail anytime! Can be hot in summer months as not much shade, but great views of WWII Towers. Connect with Junction Breakwater Trail for nice 16 mike loop to Rehoboth and Lewes.

It's not a bad trail. There can be heavy traffic. It's easy to get in and out from with lots of free parking.

I've walked this trail many times. Some of it is paved, some is covered with gravel. It's not a bad walk, but nothing spectacular either.

Great trail. 2.7 miles from parking at Herring Point to pavilion at Gordon’s Pond. Nice trail with short boardwalk over marsh. You can just reverse and go back or do the shorter return along the beach. Fantastic hike!! Lots of MAMILs. Middle aged men in Lycra who do not share the road well. Sometimes rude and dangerous behavior.

Beautiful trail for both walking and biking!

Nice & short quiet flat trail for an easy quiet bike ride along the canal, dog-walk, or nature walk with the kiddos. Perfect little cut-through trail to ride or run from Ocean View to Bethany.

Nice flat trail for easy bike ride or a run off the road to enjoy some nature. Nice walking for pets & kiddos as well. Crushed gravel & also sandy path that goes to a small "secret beach", past an old abandoned barn then back to parking lot. At the bridges that cross water, try to stay quiet as you approach to see the Egrets and Herons that are usually present fishing :) Deer and Turkey are always around as well if you keep an eye out for them.

Great for kids to practice biking

Flat but pretty. Buggy but fun. EASY. Great for all levels
west side of long loop less crowded

Not the most scenic of walks and gets crowded but does the job in a pinch. Nice loop and well maintained.

Great trail. A bit windy though when biking. Other then that it's great!

Super simple all flat trail. The first mile or so was on graveI and it smelt great with all the pine trees around. I definitely recommend bug spray for this, as I was getting attacked all over, especially near the canal. To my surprise I got to see an old abandoned barn. Took me about 30 minutes to get here from 30th st. in Ocean CIty, MD. I think this trail would be best suited for a bike ride or a jog. Plan on going back in the fall to see how it is then.

Some amazing spots and Delaware history!

Nice gravel trail with the kids. Saw deer in the marsh. Good trail for bikes.

Nice walkable short shady trail.

Nice paved walk along the river. There is no shade along the walkway so I always plan my walks here according to the weather. Today was overcast and breezy which is perfect weather for this park even though it's 87 degrees.

Nice walking or running trail never overcrowded but always busy

Walked this trail in april and its a nice quiet trail that goes along a canal. Approximately one mile each way. It runs along a residential neighborhood. Nice trail for walking and bike riding with family. Good for children and saw many birds. To walk the entire path you must cross a road about 3/4 of the way. Looks like the state is expanding the trail. Parking and restrooms are available.

This park has its pluses and minuses. Biggest minus is location - next to the highway and train tracks makes it noisy. Biggest plus is location - stretched right along the Delaware River. Very open with few trees. Major draw, for me, is that frequently big ships pass close by (cruise, container, tugs...) which makes it fun for kids. Also a good place to learn to bike ride as this is not a crowded spot. Yes, sort of a city/industrial location but a nice spot for a winter walk on a sunny day or when you want a change from a woodsy walk.

I would rate it a 5 star if / when it is completed. There are stretches of gravel along the way which is not too bad (although descriptions say it's all paved--not true) but there is a patch where the canal overflows onto the trail. This morning I splashed my way through but on the way back, walked my bike through 6 inches of water. Are there plans to pave the whole thing? There is a lot of construction equipment along the way.

The Michael Castle trail is a mostly paved multi-use trail running along the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal between the Maryland state line and Fort Delaware State Park in Delaware City, DE. It features excellent views of the canal and marshlands and woods along the canal and the historic areas along Canal Street in Delaware City, ending with views of the Delaware River from the state park. As of September 2016 there is still one short section, about 3/4 mile, near the US 301 bridge, that is not yet paved. Here the surface is packed gravel and it appears that the section is being prepared for paving.

There are several trailhead parking areas currently open and one that is completed near Lum's Pond that is constructed but wasn't open as of September 11, 2016. The others are street parking in Delaware City, off Main Street in Georgetown, and Biddle Point. All are paved parking with information kiosk and restrooms.

I've done this trail a couple times. It varies between paved and gravel (a small portion is sidewalk along a road). There are some small hills. In my opinion, it's worth doing, but is nothing spectacular.

Really nice walk, next to Park, Workout Area, Dog Park, Skate Park. Lots of people playing the new Pokemon Go Game as well.
