on Walking Dunes Trail

I love Cape Henlopen, it has to be the coolest place you can camp. Even though its a small state park, you’re right by the beach. So you can camp and walk over the dunes and you’re at the beach in 10mins. Its so peaceful at night with the wind, crickets, and the sound of the waves. And you can always find a camp ground year round.

Beautiful, shady ride through pine trees on a flat trail. Perfect for kids!

Beautiful but incredibly buggy in July/August. I was bitten even while running. Views of the water are nice alongside heavily wooded tree canopies.

and also add another mile and a half from the end of the gordens pond trail to the center of town in rehobeth. I'm in Cape May and we're on this trail all the time, if you don't have a bike there is a bike rental right at the ferry terminal in lewes, you can find buy one get one free walk-on coupons to the ferry sometimes but if not it's $18 per person round trip, with or without a bike, If the round about distance of 8+ miles, one way from the ferry to rehobeth seems too much just do a day trip to Lewes, just take a right when you get off the boat and go to Lewes, it's about a mile each way, very do-able even for a novice and there are plenty of places to eat, cocktail and shop, a great day trip either way you go! and I'll just throw this in, if you like Mexican you have to eat at Agave in lewes, some of the best mexican food and margaritas ever, anywhere! I kid you not!

it's a great ride! if your coming off the ferry add about a mile and a half to the actual trail distance, very well maintained trails, takes you just about to the main drag in rehobeth,

Paved loop around a reservoir. First 1/4 mile is up to reach the loop. Paved trail. No tree cover, so can be brutal on hot days. Nice, pleasant walk we have taken with our kids. Good family walk as is stroller friendly.

Great for nature lovers!

My husband and I just rode this trail 2 times this weekend. We recommend bringing your own bike or renting from Atlantic cycles in Rehobeth for the ride. They have great prices and nice bikes! This trail will definitely give you a nice workout! Beautiful trail!

This is a well marked path that is shared with cyclists too. It goes past several World War II structures and offers a lot of variety in terrain. Don't forget your bug spray!

It's a 1.8 loop around the reservoir, but that did not include the long incline you need to walk to get there.
If you walk the pavement up the hill and don't take the grassy shortcuts turning left will get you a 2.0 mile walk, If you take the path straight or to the right it's a 2.2 mile walk.
There are lots of benches on the way up and on the top, and don't forget the suntan lotion on the sunny days.
This is my favorite walking trail, because the water reminds me of my boating days as a kid, and the view of Newark especially when the train goes through the town of Newark it reminds me of a train model store but in real life, because you are so high above the city.
Go you won't be disappointed!

Short and sweet loop. Great boardwalk trail. Definitely bring bug spray..

Short down and back, overlooks swamp area. Great birdwatching area. Bring bug spray!!!!

This trail is a great hidden gem in the Bethany Beach area. I discovered it while exploring the area on my hybrid bike. A pleasant, shaded ride through marsh an pine forest with some scenic breaks.

Great spot for birds. Try riding a bike through the driving trails for a good ride.

Nice trail. Very little elevation change. At the Henlopan side, there is a very good raised deck trail, which is almost 1/2 mile long. Saw some birds and a Red Fox! Some benches are placed at various intervals. Do beware on the two observation platforms, there are wooden stops across them. There is an elevation change on both sides. On one of them, this is not obvious.

While the birding and views are incredible, the bugs are AWFUL. I expected (and really wanted) more trails but walked along the gravel road for a while, instead. When my dog and I got back to my car, I found 4 ticks on me and over 30 ticks on my dog. I highly suggest just going here for a scenic drive (it is worth going to see), an in-your-car picnic, or make sure you put some oregano or grapefruit and peppermint essential oil on you to repel ticks and mosquitos if you get out to walk around.

I really enjoy walking on this trail

This app is directing you on to private property. It then takes you onto City of Wilmington property that is posted as no trespassing and is patrolled by security.

Love it, just have problems with lines on bridge, makes me dizzy.

This trail is very easy and flat. I recommend it for all ages because it is very easy it is a nice walk.

This is a great hike especially in the fall. It is challenging enough for a afternoon walk. This is a good hike for all ages because there is a playground. I have also biked this trail and it is very nice around the lake. I also recommend stoping to see the island trail it is really neat.

Nice trail anytime! Can be hot in summer months as not much shade, but great views of WWII Towers. Connect with Junction Breakwater Trail for nice 16 mike loop to Rehoboth and Lewes.

Love this trail. Great walk to clear the mind. Only met a few people along the way.

Great trail. 2.7 miles from parking at Herring Point to pavilion at Gordon’s Pond. Nice trail with short boardwalk over marsh. You can just reverse and go back or do the shorter return along the beach. Fantastic hike!! Lots of MAMILs. Middle aged men in Lycra who do not share the road well. Sometimes rude and dangerous behavior.

Me and Elliott

Never crowded on weekdays and the fall foliage is one of the best on Delmarva.

Beautiful trail for both walking and biking!

Nice flat trail for easy bike ride or a run off the road to enjoy some nature. Nice walking for pets & kiddos as well. Crushed gravel & also sandy path that goes to a small "secret beach", past an old abandoned barn then back to parking lot. At the bridges that cross water, try to stay quiet as you approach to see the Egrets and Herons that are usually present fishing :) Deer and Turkey are always around as well if you keep an eye out for them.

Flat but pretty. Buggy but fun. EASY. Great for all levels
west side of long loop less crowded
