This trail was more challenging than I expected! Lots of climbing up hills. There was some bad parts of the trail where you are unstable on the side of the hill and other parts you are just climbing rocks. I would classify it as a more difficult hike, but doable!!

Nice trails, variety of terrain, fields, woods, stream crossing with no bridge.
Trails need much better marking. Many splits with no markings.
Dog came home with a dozen ticks and didn't even go off the trail.
Plenty of poison ivy. Watch what you touch.

Best views from Mootry Peak! Gets busy so go early in the day.

Went on Monday 5/21/18...Great trail! Just be careful since the storm that went through. Lots of trees down on the trail. Definitely recommend going!

Nice walk, good for all levels. Great place to socialize your dogs.

Take the left trail at the first fork! It's better marked, provides better views of the falls and ruins, and isnt as steep or rocky.

Post storm. Needs large amount of maintenance. Hard to find trail in several spots. The map helped immensely. We had fun bushwhacking over the downed trees but were very tired at the end. Thank goodness for Holy Cow!!

Just tried to follow this map yesterday. When other people say "unmarked" trail it actually means no trail. Follow the blue. Great views from the summit though. Must have a compass or gps.

Parked at the address of the trail head that is proved! Hiked on the white trail to the blue trail (Breakneck Pond Trail). Important note that the blue markers of the Breakneck Pond Trail are being updated to a blue red marker (3 horizontal stripes blue red blue). There are signs for the marker changes, but not until later on the trail. Due to this confusion I stayed on the white trail longer and accidentally came across the blue Breakneck Pond Trail. If you do the Breakneck Pond Trail counter clock wise I thought it had more uphills than if you were to do it clock wise. I thought the rating of moderate was fair. There are parts of the trail that require rock hoping, walking over rocks to pass thru creaks, and walking on thin log bridges. Enjoyed my hike! While on the Breakneck Pond Trail there is a view of the lake a majority of the time. If you visit during the off season, there is no charge for parking. Went the weekend before Memorial Day and there was no charge.

This section of the AT is difficult, that’s for sure. Sometimes the gradual climbs seem to go on forever. But once you reach the top(s) you’re rewarded with the most spectacular views. The northbound scramble down from Bear Mountain is also challenging. I’d definitely recommend hiking poles.

There are plenty of active water sources (at least in springtime) and the trails are nicely marked with ample signage. The campsites are nicely maintained, but prepare to share the shelters with other hikers. For me this proved to be an awesome opportunity to swap stories with experienced AT thru-hikers.

All-in-all a fantastically rewarding hike!

Great hike. Has a couple of challenging-ish parts. There are some beautiful views. It’s a nice relaxing hike that took about 3.5-4 hours. If in the area, I’d do it again.

Great place to walk or run. Very well maintained. Follow the blue blazes and hike to Heublien Tower via the Metacomet trail! Can be muddy if you choose this route.

This is an easy dog friendly and family friendly hike. It's a short 2.1 mile hike that is so green and lush in May that it makes one think that they are in Ireland. The parking at the trail head is very limited. We found room for 1 car only!! See included Photos. The plaque on the huge boulder near the end of the hike was a nice touch.

Very good hike. Great view from the top. Required a little bit of climbing. Great hike for tourist looking for slight adventure

This is "easy" from the parking lot to the first view. I made this a 3+ mile more "moderate" hike by exploring the red and blue trails and doing both sides of the river. There must be a shooting range close by though because there were gunshots over and over and over leading me to turn around on the Red Trail because the shots kept getting closer, making me nervous. Blue Trail is much prettier a trail than the Red Trail. Beautiful views...watch your footing!

We walk this regularly with our dogs. Hills are steep but the rest of the trail is mild. One of my favorite area trails.

Nice. easy side of moderate. would have been a little bored but we took the gold trail for a rockier path and better views. the old pavilion was really neat and enjoyed climbing on the jette at the beach. a little humid and 79 degress.

Good park to trail run with the dogs. There’s always a ton of dogs off leash here, it’s especially beautiful in the fall and winter after it snows. In the summer (May-Oct) they charge $5 for non resident to park at the park and $1.25 for residents. Always tons of frisbee golfers when it’s nice out. Overall a really nice park.

Easy trail for running with my dogs if I’m looking for something quick, only takes about 15-20 to get around the park. Lots of off leash dogs.

We did the red trail to green. We wear our kids in back packs and found it very doable- we did watch our steps carefully on parts of the red though! Great place we will be returning soon!

Great loop with many options. I wish there were posted trail maps that showed all of the smaller trails.

such a beautiful trail. very peaceful. if you have tiny dogs like mine (Chihuahua) I don't recommend the boardwalk. the gaps in the boards became too wide and my dogs feet kept falling through so I had to carry him. but other than that it was nice.

Beautiful trail. Thank you to the volunteers who keep it so nice!

I did an out and back to the lion’s head summit only, which is perfect if you’re looking for a short hike but still decent exercise and amazing view. It was mostly uphill with a short steep rocky trek to the summit right before lions head. It took us about 25 mins to get to lions head from the trail head. Getting down wasn’t bad at all.

Easy walk on the board walk, great at sunset especially in the summer with the peepers!
