Another cool trail if you’re looking to find a neat fire tower to climb!

Nice trail. Teenagers always in the tower.

Short and pretty easy. There are always teenagers hanging out in the fire tower every time I go.

Excellent hike. hiked just before dusk in mid August. Bugs weren't bad. Suggest you take the blue trail to yellow to white trail to avoid the rockiest and roughest part of the white trail. not much to see, but a great trail to just get out and commune with nature. only saw two people in the 70 min hike. note white trail starts at far left at back of parking lot (not at welcome/info sign). Blue trail starts at welcome sign. suggest proceed in clockwise direction.

Fun trail but so full of bugs at this time of year. They are relentless.

Decent trails. Terrain was very rocky and had a lot of tree roots across the path. Very dog-friendly. Bring bug spray.

Do you like stubbing your toes & breaking your ankles while eating your body weight in bugs? Then this is the hike for you. All kidding aside, the terrain would not be an issue if I wasn’t wrestling bugs our of my nose, mouth, ears, and eyes every three seconds. I will definitely try this place again but I have to research different sprays that will keep the gnats at bay. I was doused in DEET and I don’t think it did anything. I like to exert myself on a hike and without the bugs this one would be four stars. If the bugs are always this bad there’s no need to come back. There’s too many other great places in Connecticut to be outside and get some exercise. You have been warned. I hope your hike is more pleasant than the one I took today.

Easy trail. Small lake/pond at the end. Very icy today and great for dogs.

Nice wide path, some large loose rocks though so take care not to twist an ankle. Lots of water & mud on the trail (Jan 1) but otherwise it’s hard to understand why this mostly flat trail was rated moderate difficulty. My hiking partner & I are relatively out of shape but considered this one of the easiest trails we’ve taken. We completed our leisurely hike in 38 minutes. There’s definitely a lake on the left at the end of the trail - if you’re following the right trail (there’s a trail that veers off to the right with a little bridge early on, that’s not the main trail).

Great hike to the firepower......went for the sunset. One of the nicest towers I've climbed...will definitely return.

Great little hike!! Would love to return...went for the sunset and was pressed for time. Some cool overlooks from Orenaug Rocks

Very scenic, moderate trails that lead to a couple interesting destinations including a lookout tower built in the early 1900's and Chapel Rock, an area once used to gather for worship by local residents. There are two seperate trailheads to choose from, the one behind the senior center holds more parking. The other trailhead boasts two pillars made with stone from every state. Americare members came here recently to clear trails that have been long blocked by debris and overgrowth and blaze trails. There are also a couple geocaches located here.

We walked about an hour into the trail and did not find a lake. The trail was fairly flat and easy walking. No wildlife to be seen.
