Definitely an amazing hike. If you’re new to trails the first .25 miles is a bit much because it’s steep but it’s really beautiful. Seeing the hueblin tower at the end is a perfect edition to the trail.

Great hike, we did a little over four miles in and out. Used the yellow trail, easy to follow, with a great view at the top.

We walked, but we'll be back with bikes soon, and snowshoes later.

Went up the Metacomet trail, come to lake Louise about 1.6 miles. Pretty murky, has a little lookout. Continue on the Metacomet and you come to a parking lot for Wilcox park, the orange trail is to the left of the parking lot and then continued back on orange to yellow back to Penwood parking area. The trail back was less rocky and easier to run on

one of my favorite trail running loops. there's a small trail head up at the top of the drive way that makes the hike in a little more difficult but the views are better. there's a cliff side trail with good views and there are also some fire roads that run below the observation tower.
on nice weekend days expect heavy traffic.

yellow trail is awesome with nice views

Really nice wide trails and some smaller trails branching out. Expect it to be super busy on nice days and fairly limited parking. First bit of the main trail is very steep. Great spot for social dogs

Bummed it was too slushy/ snowy to do the walk in sneakers today. Will have to go back with boots or wait for warmer weather

Nice short hike for a Sunday afternoon. the views from the tower are great and there are some great outlooks along the way

Love the view. Clean air. No insects bugs or sight of animals or even snakes. Neutral for all. My favorite all time place.

beautiful views and awesome hike

Loved it. Rain and all!

Great place to hike year round. Views are some of Connecticut’s best. Heublein tower is always fun. Connects to Metacomet trail when u want to extend the trek. Always a family favorite.

Easy hike and good views. It's a bit crowded though. There are lots of families and people of all ages on the trail. There is a picnic spot near the tower.

Awesome views

I found a nice spot to meditate overlooking the town

Nice views on a relatively easy hike (minus the first 5 minutes of walking straight up hill).

Extremely popular on Labor Day, trails were filled. Nice view for little climb. No water fountain at tower!

FYI- there is a $9 per car fee.

Great hike, an easy up and down with great views

Great views, but the Heublein Tower is definitely what sets this one apart. Follows up an old dirt/gravel carriage road to the summit. The first portion of the hike wasn't as steep as I anticipated from reading reviews, but should definitely give you a decent workout nonetheless. Bring a picnic lunch and go when the tower is open. Heavily trafficked.

A moderate trail with a view of Hublein tower to the south if on the metacomet. Some loose rock areas...watch out on the stone staircase passing the wildlife sanctuary. The new england trail dumps out on mountain rd heading north.

Good workout. Moderate uphill and down hill climbs. Took the Metacomet from West Hartford Res. 6. There is also a yellow trail from the parking area that passes through several vistas of the surrounding farmland. Hublein tower gives a 360 view with identifying guides beneath each window. Beautiful flowers and picnic areas.

Very nice maintained trail. Steep to start but levels off nicely and offers wonderful views.

Hiked it today with our 13 year old,9 year old and 1 year old puppy!! Great trail, not for the novice hiker. Unlike many of the reviews we did not find the trail to be poorly marked, but rather the opposite. We went on the hike to go geocaching and found 3 out of the 4 we were looking for. We hiked about 4 miles total and we were primarily on the Blue Trail.
