This is a beautiful area to relax & walk around. You have the option of taking a 1/2 hour walk or a shorter 10 minute walk. The hills make the area more scenic. It is very quiet & peaceful.

Still need Yak Trax or poles for icy spots that there is no way around. 90% of trail is clear of snow but wet in many areas.

The last bit of the trail is in private property so you can’t go, but it’s only a little bit. In the beginning quite a bit of the trail was flooded due to melting snow but it’s doable. I got good boots! Not a bad walk.

Only did a little of the trail, side trails are nice. Waterfall and pond are nice. All dogs were on leaches. A+

Very easy and relaxing walking trail with a great view of the river!

Loved it! Can't wait to come back in the spring when there's no snow and ice!

Easy walking trail

Beautiful walking along the canal.

Nice hike with a few lively views

Enjoyed my first run of 2019 here and I was not disappointed. What a wonderful trail.
There were lots of hikers at the parking lot but the trail system is big enough that I wasn’t bothered by anyone.
The trail was well marked and I would say on the tougher side of moderate. There were water crossings, steep inclines and declines, nice views, an amazing lake, overall a great trail.
There were a few technical areas where as a trail runner you will have to slow down to navigate and the rocks are extremely slippery. Probably the time of year, but be careful.
I will definitely be coming back here. Maybe I’ll bring the fam next time and do some fishing.
Great park.

Happy running,

cool tunnel

This is a paved linear trail that runs very close to the highway, and along the Quinnipiac river. A lot of mosquitoes!

This is a wonderful spot to get in your long distance run. I’ve been a number of times and I am never disappointed. I have yet to run the entire out and back but have completed about 30 miles of it. It is a packed dirt/gravel trail that slopes very casually making the elevation gain go unnoticed. In the winter I’ve seen folks out there with cross country skies and snow shoes.
This trail is good for everyone and anything.

Happy trails-

Great activity to burn a half day when in New Haven. Absolutely stunning views during autumn. After our hike we did some scenic driving which I recommend for anyone with some extra time who appreciates the color change. We visited some parks that had better views within an hours driving distance, but if you are in New Haven and looking for something close I highly recommend.

Nice trail. A few areas need to be repaved.

Start on the switchbacks and continue onto the stairs when you see them. Great workout ... they say there are 286 steps to the top ... some of the steps are steep and not always a railing to hold. If you have anxiety about being on the edge of steep cliffs ... it will start churning in your belly... but trust me ... the view up top of New Haven and Long Island Sound (and the gluts workout) is as absolutely worth it! Pack a lunch as there are plenty of picnic tables up top.

Trail seems to be closed for the time being. Multiple signs at the beginning with down trees across the trail. It sounds like a great hike- just not do-able at this time

A great road for biking with little kids and nice views. The lake at the end has a magnificent view to take some rest and enjoy the playground. Bikes are not allowed in the loop around the lake
