Easy walk with 9yr old daughter. Paved loop path. Plenty of shade.

A quintessential CT country walk. I’m so lucky to have Huntington State Park close by. It’s beautiful any time of the year.

I stayed to the east of Putnam Park Pond, which offered gorgeous views of the water and a paved trail (former road) for a stroll. This side has multiple picnic areas and swing sets for the kids.

The first part of Falls Trail that goes beside the stream is very rocky, wet and slippery, with moss covered stones on a fairly steep slope down to the stream. Once past the falls, the trail becomes easier. I continued on to Hardwood Trail, which was wet in several places and hard to follow. The GPS tracker on the app really helped to keep me going in the right direction. All in all, a moderately difficult hike that was a good morning’s activity.

Excellent Place to Run! It’s my go to every morning. There are so many varieties of trails at this park it’s amazing. Depending on my mood I can so 3- 8 miles and elevations can be very challenging depending on which trail you take. There’s also the possibility of getting lost but just follow the color your sticking with or always have you mike tracker on with a map and you’ll know which way to go back in no time. The perk to this park are the amazing views within each trail. It’s definitely something that makes you want to run even more and lifts the spirit.

Nice quiet trail, the trail and white blazes weren’t the easiest to follow at times but it wasn’t bad. Neat little falls and water along the way but the trail tightens up and gets rocky at that point. All in all worth the hike.

Not rigorous, but beautiful, and a great place to decompress

Love this place; some steep parts but a great hike.

Meadow with flowers followed by the quaint falls makes a nice little hike. Beautiful July morning to be outside.

Nice loop/ walk.

Enjoyed this nice little hike...great place for an avid birder like myself. Loved the wildflower meadow..it was teeming with butterflies. Falls were running well after a night of thunderstorms.

The portion next to the river is overgrown, lots of rocks and roots. You are def scrambling a bit. Very narrow at points so you are wading through ferns and bushes and there’s a lot of poison ivy. That being said we will likely return. Just be aware of conditions.

Good variety of trails - well maintained

Lots of interesting history, worth seeing at least once. Definitely great for families.

A little buggy, but a beautiful waterfall.

Not much of a hike, more of a walking trail than anything. Took the blue and white trails. The white trail has you serpentine a lot. The pond is very pretty though, especially on a sunny day!

Worth every step.

Love this place. Easy hiking and beautiful scenery.

The Falls Trail is more than moderate, especially if you’re walking with children. Erosion has brought the trail very close to the river over unsteady rocks and exposed tree roots.

Huntington offers a wide range of trails from easy to difficult. Only setback is that it is too popular .

love this place! so many trails to explore, was lost for a bit so deff follow a map because you dont see a lot of people once your out in the trails.

Easy walking trails with great historical markers around the loop.

Note: the color of the trail when you start at the south lot (the one with the bear and wolf sculptures) is actually the blue trail. Allltrails mistakenly notes if as the white trail.

A nice kid friendly walk. Five and four year olds found many interesting things to see.

Great hike. Well marked. Would prefer in the fall when the leaves expose the reservoir.

Great place to hike with children and dogs.

Hardwood is a great trail. Rocky and lots of climbing so I would rate it higher than moderate. Looked like it hadn't been worked on for a while - a bunch of downed trees over the trail and overgrown near the river.

Great park. I wonder if Collis Huntington would approve of anything associated with his name being open to the general public?

One of my fav locations.

Decent easy loop with the dog. Lots of foot (and paw) traffic. Little historical spots along the way keep it amusing.
