I’m from the area and have hiked this area for years. It’s a great, easy hike. Good for kids. We went today with our almost 3 year old. It’s a super fun place for him to explore and he can walk all of it himself. Biggest drawback is that people often don’t keep their dogs on a leash. With 2 small kids and a small dog, it really sucks when dogs run up on us.

Trail is not blazed, and it overgrown. Not maintained but not unnavigatable.

Beautiful natural setting, but too urban for my taste. Spray paint on trees, loud music, people smoking pot etc.

It was beautiful but the part not near the river is overgrown in parts and lots of bugs. So refreshing and beautiful despite the overgrowth and bugs.

Is not my favorite of the Scantic River trails. It is overgrown at times and tends to have lots of trash. lots of bugs as well.

The river was beautiful and the sound of the rippling water was relaxing. Trail had some steep hills that may be slightly challenging for very beginners but otherwise fairly easy trail. Only challenge was when following the markers, you miss a large section of the map displayed on this app. To follow the app, you have to leave the markers.

Easy peaceful walk along the scenic river

The trail loop follows 1 miles of river then goes up a short steep incline. Then just over 1 mile back to parking area along the upper ridge. Trail well maintained but not well marked. Many small side trail upturns. The remaining 3 miles of this listed hike appear to start along Powder Hill Rd. Was unable to locate a trail to follow for this section. So we just did the loop.

Nice little jaunt through the woods with some options to take small side trails. Beautiful river views and quiet walk. Rarely others on trail. Dog friendly.
