East Granby, Connecticut Map

A few wide vistas where you can see the fall foliage. Moderate hike with a couple loop systems at the northern side before new england trail hits asphalt again on 169 I believe. otherwise straight in straight out like most of the blue trail sections. Hike stays close to the side of the mountain. Not crowded and there is a tent site you camp at...read the NET regulations and don't be a litter bug...one of few places you can legally camp on NET. Don't ruin it for everyone else in the state!

the hike is ok. We started on the suggested intersection of 20 and Newgate road. The trail is easy to follow. We hike 3 miles ,before turning around. Took us around 2h with 20minute stop trying to take a picture of a calliope. LOL
It has a area for street parking; and if that is full you can still park by the shoulders.
Trail is light traffic and well maintained.
No much to see; most view are partly obstructed, and you never feel much in nature with airport noise in the background, as well as the road right there. Most views are of houses below. The Peak is ok, with some far point views. Is a good "in my backyard" hike, but nothing to drive to (we drove from new haven)

Enjoyable. Not for those who are not big on hiking. Requires some good stamina.

challenging for our younger kids but enjoyable for them as well. great family outing!

Gorgeous views, great for kids, have never encountered more than two other groups on the trail at a time. Some rock scrambling worth noting.

good hike, not too strenuous....a little steep in the very beginning but flattens out after that for most of the hike....nice scenery...will definitely be back...

Pretty nice trail. Overall it's not too strenuous and has quite a few viewpoints.

We parked at the corner of Newgate Rd and 20 in the grass by the start of the trail. Make sure you keep going after the first overlook. There's a lot more to see and even a journal you can write in.

I'll definitely be back in the fall.

Street parking, nice moderate out and back trail with some nice views.

Nice off leash trail.

Awesome view!!!

Pretty easy, a few nice views.

Currently closed for restoration but you can still walk around the grounds. We took our dog and she got completely COVERED in ticks so be careful! Trails are really overgrown and in bad shape. Hopefully restoration will finish soon and they'll allow entry into the actual prison and copper mines.

Great trail for winter sunsets

It was good for a short hike to get out and moving. Trail was a bit slippery with the mud but simple and quick.

Nice views

Trail has not been kept up- it was very difficult to find it and continue on it. It starts right next to the big wooden sign in the parking lot. There are stairs that go down the hill.

beautiful trail

Beautiful 4th of July hike!

This is one of my favorites. It's quick and the view is beautiful. I went yesterday and saw a black bear, so just be careful!

Nice hike. Not difficult at all. I love the view. Especially at sunset. It's an amazing place for sunsets! My dog loves this hike. There is another entrance that gets you to the top of this peak in east granby farms on 187 that is more steep and a little bit more difficult of a hike.
