Excellent hike for a newbie like me, dog friendly, little bit of scrambling to start the trail after that levels out great views not too crowded during the week day

Really great hike. Plan for about 2 hours. Really nice views of Heublein Tower, Enders Forest and Old Newgate Prison from the top. Pretty crazy that a plane hit the top in 1995 on an approach to Bradley. Did the hike with my dog and she loved it.

Bit rocky in some places but definitely worth the walk! Only two steep parts at the very beginning and end that were tolerable for both our dogs!

We totally got lost and ended up walking on the road for a bit and had to circle back. Lots of mountain bikers. Very pretty view once we found the overlook. Good hike overall.

Parked a car at each end and hiked the NET CT Sections 20 & 21 northbound from the Old Newgate Prison trailhead to the Massachusetts Section 1 Trailhead, Hardly any people out on the trail today - maybe 12 in total on an absolutely perfect Memorial Day Sunday. Views looking west only, but lots of them. The trail is pristine and very well-maintained. It is only steep in a few places but the trail is incredibly rocky for about 3/4 of it, so I would not recommend doing this in sneakers unless you hate your feet. Very little mud, plenty of shade.

Nice views, it’s in and out

Simple hike with mild elevations climbs. Trail in good condition. No water/mud. Plenty of shade. Easy two miles out/ two back. Minimum parking on Hatchett Hill Rd. Section 19 of Metacomet.

Wonderful trail with great views and a cool shady forest setting. It's a steep jaunt at first but levels out quickly. All the other hills were fairly easy and also leveled off quickly. Very easy path to follow and not too rocky. A really great hike all around, one of my new favorites.

Good trail. Nice early hill and good views at the midpoint. Narrow trail so tough to keep dog away from poison ivy. A LOT poison ivy, so be warned.

This was a great hike. Almost easy. A little rocky. Great views once you reach the first lookout. Most people didn’t go past the first lookout so it was a nice quiet trail if you went the rest of the way. Two more beautiful lookouts if you completed the trail (1.8 miles one way). A great workout if you’re looking to burn some calories. The whole trail was shaded. The path was worn down so it was easy to follow along with the markers. Would highly recommend it.

Super fun and enjoyable hike with just enough challenge. Bit of a good incline at the beginning but was nice and pretty flat for the rest of it with a few small ups and down. Great for everyone. Loved this hike.

Really nice place

It was a dope ride trail was dry for the most part some pretty cool beginner features some areas are over grown but manageable. Def worth a trip !

Short and easy hike! Little bit of an incline at first, but mostly flat the rest of the trail!

Lots of poison ivy, hard to determine between mountain bike trials and hiking trails.

It was an okay trail. I would consider this easy. If you come out to the street, which we did twice, look for the yellow arrows on the pavement. We walked a good portion on the road with no sidewalk that lead us through someone’s backyard. A lot of the trail is close to houses and you can hear the highway. We saw quite a number of chipmunks, birds, and even a black squirrel.

Very nice hike on a nice day, would definitely do this hike again.

very nice trail, a good family hike. if you are looking for a challenge this is not your trail, but if you want to take a hike with your family and enjoy a nice view this is the one

Nice trail and decent hike! Pretty busy but well kept trail and nice view. Lots of look out spots off the trail.
