Nice hike, pretty clean park. Got alot of rain recently so mosquitos were out in force but will do it again. Several campsites as well. We stayed at Mootry lookout and Danbury looked pretty good from up there.

Beautiful woods and meadows. Great view of the lake. I took the red and orange trails. Navigating the trails was a little hard given that there had been a lot of trees down due to a major storm that had blown through, but otherwise a peaceful, pretty trail.

Super fun! We went 3 weeks after the macroburst/‘nado’s hit the area and the destructive wrath was evident. The red trail required some over/under toppled trees and we lost the trail for minutes at a time, but it made it that much more fun!

Ps Bring bug spray

Relaxing, easy hikes. Great way to start the morning.

It's a nice hike that's broken up into several smaller trails. All the trails are somewhat small so it's good for kiddos. The trail to the lake may be a little steep with rock jumping, but the lake itself is serene. Unfortunately, there was a bit of trash left over from previous hikers.

An important thing to note - I'm writing this in May of 2018. A recent storm created quite a bit of tree damage. There were downed trees everywhere, often times blocking the trails. You may have to crawl over or under them the trees. Some of the fallen trees even have trail blazes on it so it's easy to lose the trail.

Finally, the trail map on this site doesn't reflect the actual trail map. While the shape is the same, it's composed of lots of smaller trails of varying colors. Make sure to bring your phone and take a picture of the trail map posted in the parking lot. If worse comes to worse, stick to the red trail. It will take you in and take you out. Enjoy!

Best views from Mootry Peak! Gets busy so go early in the day.

Like the park. Trails well marked.

A nice mix of terrain with multiple options. You'll encounter hayfields, woodland trails, significant rock outcroppings and boulders with a few steep climbs/descents depending on the route taken. I thoroughly enjoyed it on a spectacular September morning.

Trails can be confusing. Views blocked in summer but did take orange down to water to get closeup view of lake Decent

Nice spot to hike, with pretty views and a field for relaxing. Can get very busy. The park puts on events, too, and has a beautiful house you can rent for weddings, etc.

I couldn't find the back half of the trail. Although this was my first time using the app and I had not downloaded the trail prior to my run.

I ran the front loop three times which means I ran that monster of a hill three times. When that's all you do, it kicks your butt.

The trail was a bit crowded as clearly it's family friendly. The sight is great for taking in nature and a short hike.

Next time, I'm definitely downloading the trail first to take on the back half.

Beautiful land and varied terrain make this land a great place to hike.

This is a great area. I did a short hike as the wind was blowing and it was brutal cold but this looks like a pretty nice place to explore. The water is nice and there are some cool rock formations. Give it a try!

Really enjoyed the whole trail-well marked, challenging but many areas that were relaxing and easy!
There were a few areas of ice- but nothing insurmountable.

Well blazed and traveled trail system.

Decided to backpack the trail, and spend a night in between pine mountain and Wooster. Started from redding. Good easy park at both endpoints. Pretty well blazed. Couple good views. Pretty ponds. Pretty buggy in July. Would make for a good spring or fall hike!

It's amazing the places that are right there in your backyard. It was a relaxing walk. Enjoyed the ponds and the quietness of the park.

Started in Tarrywile Park, went along the western trail of Parks Pond. Took a little trail 1/2 way to the southern end of the Pond to go a little west to pickup the Ives. Which we followed up to the beacon on Thomas Mountain. Instead of going north towards Tarrywile Lake, we followed the trail down past two trashed 1980's cars (Chevy and Peugot) and then didn't know where to go. Went straight where the only markers were duct tape. Turned around and took the other choice which led us to the Old Post Road and onto Wooster Heights Rd in Danbury. About 3 hours.
