This trail was great, the top was beautiful. It was difficult hiking wise and the peak is pretty.

There is a beautiful view right before the peak that I highly recommend stopping to look at!

some great views and terrain challenges

Not impressed at all. Boring. So many other beautiful places to hike/explore.

great cardio not too hard not too easy rocky areas are not killer but definitely bring up a good sweat, excellent views very picturesque natural water flow through the mountain. recommend bug spray, very friendly people.

Nice loop up some mountains, through scenic meadows and down to Candlewood Lake but no real views apart from the lake, which you can reach via the orange trail. I took red to white to yellow to violet, then back to red, down to orange, and back to the parking area on red. There were tons of downed trees, which made this a lot trickier than it needed to be. Someone desperately needs to get out there with a chainsaw. Nice variety of stuff to see, but it's not fun scaling blowdown every 30 yards.

Nice hike, pretty clean park. Got alot of rain recently so mosquitos were out in force but will do it again. Several campsites as well. We stayed at Mootry lookout and Danbury looked pretty good from up there.

Beautiful woods and meadows. Great view of the lake. I took the red and orange trails. Navigating the trails was a little hard given that there had been a lot of trees down due to a major storm that had blown through, but otherwise a peaceful, pretty trail.

Super fun! We went 3 weeks after the macroburst/‘nado’s hit the area and the destructive wrath was evident. The red trail required some over/under toppled trees and we lost the trail for minutes at a time, but it made it that much more fun!

Ps Bring bug spray

Relaxing, easy hikes. Great way to start the morning.

It's a nice hike that's broken up into several smaller trails. All the trails are somewhat small so it's good for kiddos. The trail to the lake may be a little steep with rock jumping, but the lake itself is serene. Unfortunately, there was a bit of trash left over from previous hikers.

An important thing to note - I'm writing this in May of 2018. A recent storm created quite a bit of tree damage. There were downed trees everywhere, often times blocking the trails. You may have to crawl over or under them the trees. Some of the fallen trees even have trail blazes on it so it's easy to lose the trail.

Finally, the trail map on this site doesn't reflect the actual trail map. While the shape is the same, it's composed of lots of smaller trails of varying colors. Make sure to bring your phone and take a picture of the trail map posted in the parking lot. If worse comes to worse, stick to the red trail. It will take you in and take you out. Enjoy!

Best views from Mootry Peak! Gets busy so go early in the day.

Multiple trails to cater to all levels. I'm a regular here.

A nice mix of terrain with multiple options. You'll encounter hayfields, woodland trails, significant rock outcroppings and boulders with a few steep climbs/descents depending on the route taken. I thoroughly enjoyed it on a spectacular September morning.

Trails can be confusing. Views blocked in summer but did take orange down to water to get closeup view of lake Decent

A nice juxtaposition between the rural and urban. Easy to access.

Nice views in the spring and autumn.

Walked around Haines Pond. Nice short walk, beautiful view of the pond. Walk back goes along and on the old train tracks, which is a bit awkward to walk on.

Good place for beginners.

Nice spot to hike, with pretty views and a field for relaxing. Can get very busy. The park puts on events, too, and has a beautiful house you can rent for weddings, etc.

I couldn't find the back half of the trail. Although this was my first time using the app and I had not downloaded the trail prior to my run.

I ran the front loop three times which means I ran that monster of a hill three times. When that's all you do, it kicks your butt.

The trail was a bit crowded as clearly it's family friendly. The sight is great for taking in nature and a short hike.

Next time, I'm definitely downloading the trail first to take on the back half.

Was nearly run down by the local kids on motorcycles. My daughter was so scared she refuses to go back.

Beautiful land and varied terrain make this land a great place to hike.

This is a great area. I did a short hike as the wind was blowing and it was brutal cold but this looks like a pretty nice place to explore. The water is nice and there are some cool rock formations. Give it a try!
