We took the kids back in March (ages 10/6/4)... one of the days that was in the high 40s with snow on most of the ground in this slightly higher elevation. We had our boots on, and the little guy got really wet pants from falling in the snow. It was lots of fun, parts were scrambles for the kids over the snowy rocky elevation changes. We made it to the mid-point lookout, which was not panoramic but still very beautiful. We would like to come back in other seasons and do it again!

Not too shabby for an up and down in an hour or less. Old ski trail quite fascinating

A decent hike, but note worth the time given the variety of other trails in the area.

Pros: short hike for decent views, cool old ski area equipment, and ability to see the old trails. Also very few people so nice solitude.
Cons: wandering dogs can be dangerous (was attacked on more than one occasion) and the trails are not well maintained. Always bring mace.

Fairly short and easy hike. Great for kids. You have to kind of wander off the trail to see the views, but it was pretty. Would do it again.

Great views

25-Jun-2016. Today the weather was in the mid 80s with clear blue skies. What a great Saturday afternoon for a hike.

In my opinion this is a longer workout hike. The terrain is rolling with the typical roots and stones to get you or at least your ankles. Most every stream was dry here in June. There was only one decent lookout at around the half way point.

NOTE: From the parking area on route 219, north of Ratlum Rd., heading South the hike was longer than expected. My Garmin Vivosmart clocked the hike in around four hours. That includes breaks.

The total distance, out & back, was recorded at 8.2 miles. The vivosmart claimed I climbed about 108 flights of stairs during the four hours. My quads would agree!

If you are starting from the parking lot, keep going up and to the left for the best views

Can't find it.

It was a cooler day and slightly muddy from melting snow. The parking lot is easy to find, a few hundred feet off the road , tucked behind a few houses.

The hike is easy and the path is pretty well maintained. There are stone steps when it becomes steeper. There wasn't much of a view even with bare trees, but it was still neat to check out the abandoned ski equipment.

The marked entrance is someone's private driveway. Couldn't even get to it without trespassing. Please list another entrance.
