Berlin using part of it to dump brush

Really neat, it’s a pretty flat easy trail until the end where it’s a steep incline to the top. We watched the sunset from the castle we were the only ones there and than got lost on the way back.

This trail was really fun! Lots of good views, some good scrambling at times. Good amount of mud, plenty of rocks to walk across though.

Greats views

I went straight under the interstate and there was a white marker but seemed to be over grown, i went anyway apparently the trail head was a few yards away because i found the trail, it's a well traveled trail but could use a fresh coat of paint on the blazes.
this loop is listed as moderate, if you want more of a challenge then find the blue trail, it's not a loop and comes with a warning.
when i hiked it was foggy and drizzling, add that to some snow and wet leaves it was rather treacherous no matter what trail you hiked.

This was my first hike ever a few years ago .. just the right amount of climbing and hiking involved . Looking out at the view when reaching the castle is well worth it !!

Views are spectacular !! Trail is steep and there is some climbing you have to get through but very well worth it !!

Wonderful hike alongside the lake until you get to a ridge with a beautiful view the whole way. The castle on top is super cool and has an awesome panoramic view. Probably my favorite half day hike I've done in CT!

trail was extremely muddy, make sure to bring proper footwear. easy to get off trail (and off property!).

The view on top is magnificent! I took the blue/red trail on the left to go on top of the mountain and it is very rocky. Make sure to keep your head up to see the markers. There is a small portion where there seems to be no more markers and you will go right on a wide trail (like for ATV) and then you will have to go off that path and take a left (slight uphill) to get back on track and keep going along the "cliffs".
Very nice hike overall!!

Spectacular views during the fall. We elected to cut south along the reservoir amid way down the walk from Craig Castle. Pretty scenic shoreline and also avoids the walk along the roads we saw others complain of in previous reviews (shaved off some time too). Excellent photo ops.

The trail was very wet from all the rain some of the parts of the trail had turned into a small creek so would recommend wearing waterproof hiking shoes.

My husband and I started our hike on the blue trail and ended on the blue/red trail. The trail markings were spaced far apart and difficult to follow. Some of the trail markings were faded and need to be remarked. It is easy to go off the trail if you are not carful.
The views were beautiful.

Beautiful moderate hike, great around the fall time!

the hike to the top was okay but walking back on the road is stupid.

The trail to the tower is a moderately easy hike with great views at the top. There are wonderful scenic viewpoints as you loop around past the tower. This was a very enjoyable hike.

Worth getting to the top for the views. We ended up taking the road all the way up and it does get steep. Never took the trails, maybe next time.

On a positive note the hike had very nice views over looking the lake and terrain can be challenging at times. On the negative the trail markings are very difficult to follow so make sure to use this map and also print one out as this one is not color coded properly. Also watch where you step as there was a baby 18” rattlesnake near the path today which would not have been good had we stepped on it.

this trail was one of the toughest i've done. was a good work out. there are so many rocks. and very steep terrain. i would say this trail is moderate/hard. i liked the views and i will be back for more

Great views. The hike is what I scored. Frustrated with the app, though. I recorded it and it didn’t save and wouldn’t let me share.

Good hike. Busy/limited parking on Sunday mid-morning. There were a few times where I was unsure if I went off the trail, but luckily there’s cell reception so I could check my location on the map.

Very quiet and peaceful walking/running trail, there were cars on that huge parking lot but I didn't meet anyone there. The view was nice, really green grass and trees, couple of bridges. Good for peaceful walk in the nature, but not very exiting. Lots of benches so it's good for picnic

Lots of open areas with great views! Climb was on the easy side of moderate, but still on good rocky terrain for most of the loop. Very easy to go the wrong way the first mile or two, so heads up.
