Sweet and easy, nice views. Especially liked the difference between the two sides of the lake- one more forest like, the other open air

Great views, worth the scramble over the steep, loose rocks, although i would rate that section as difficult. The white blazes are hard to see in that area and are too few (the people in front of us went up a steeper way because they missed seeing the blazes make a turn.) Views of the Talcott ridge, Heublein Tower and the mountains to the west. Sleeping Giant and the hanging hills of Meriden can be seen to the south (from a little way down the trail.) NOTE however, the black dashed trail on the south side of the map is not just overgrown, it no longer exists at all!

Lovely, easy loop. Beautiful.

It is a great trail if you are looking for an easy walk. There is a good view of Hartford. It is also a great place to see a sunset

Great hike if you knew where you were going. The only trail that is marked is the blue trail but this hike doesn’t follow that trail . The entire time we had the phone seeing where the trail was. Without the phone we would be lost!!

Ended up hiking 10.2 miles by diverting a little to see the Killkenny Rocks. Overall nice trail, not strenuous at all, pretty flat for the most part.

The view from the top was great but the trail is not well marked along the way. Got turned around several times. Also, the bushwhack no trail area on the edge of the park is impassable at times and very frustrating.

Glorious walk. Not much hiking. Couldn’t believe it is so near Hartford. Very peaceful

Only moderate because of the rock scramble.. everything else is flat. Nice though.. and good views.

It was a really nice view from the top but not easy to reach, since the trail starts to fade once you hit the steep incline. Still totally worth it and it was really close by. Thumbs up! I’m gonna do it again in the fall!

Good for relaxing hike, not for biking. Maybe for kids and a short ride. There is a paved road on the east side of the reservoir that bikes and cars use, but it does not go all the way around the reservoir.

Trail isn’t marked for a lot of it until you end up back on the Metacomet blue blaze, but AllTrails kept us mostly on track. Easy hike and currently dry, no mud. Not sure where Kilkenny rock is, but we climbed on a lot of them just to make sure ;)

Nice walk with great views

Nice short hike. As noted, the rock scramble at the end is more challenging than the main (easy) trail. The scramble is well marked with plenty of hand holds. The way down does have a couple of butt slides. The views are really nice and right in the middle of Avon!

Hiked today as part of The Sky's the Limit Hiking Challenge. Beginning was easy but the rock climb was a challenge. Beautiful view at the top.

This was a great trail. Did it for the Sky's the Limit challenge. It was a short hike, probably 15 minutes of a very easy forest walk, with about a 5 minute scramble near the top which really wasn't too bad. Everything was pretty well marked, although at the scramble I did have to stop to find all the markers. There's a point about halfway up where the trail takes a hard right. The views at the top are really fantastic. Great views to the east west and south, and lots of places to sit and take it in. Definitely now one of my favorites.

This is a good start for a novice hiker. Follow the trail and you’ll be fine. I ventured off the trail a little to see more, but I used markers so I didn’t get lost. It has a lot of bugs, so pack on the bug spray and wear correct hiking shoes as it does get muddy. Overall, pretty gorgeous.

Narrow trails that are t very clearly marked. Sections are poorly maintained with several areas that need extensive repairs. Marked as a beginner trail (easy) with some more intermediate areas that are technical and require practice to clear. Trails are very choppy with little area of flowing trails. Lots of uphill covered in loose stone and roots. No great, but not horrible.
