Fun first hike for this family from Michigan.

Very nice trail!

great views, lots of places to stop and relax. one of my favorites!

Started from Bonfiils Stanton outdoor center parking lot(added .3 miles ) to a beautiful hike! We saw moose! Gets a little tricky crossing the creek in areas! Fallen trees presented no problems. Not many hikers.

Good hike, with a nice waterfall at the end. Plenty of traffic. You have to cross the stream a few times, some fallen trees, but they were being cleaned up and not that big of a deal. Plenty of mud, so I would recommend boots over tennis shoes.

We did this hike today, 7/8/18, which was a Sunday. We got to the trailhead around 9:30am and the parking lot was pretty crowded, but there were still plenty of spots. The first mile is pretty steep. The Broome Hut (at about 1.1mi) has a bathroom. There were certainly steep spots for the rest of the hike, but the first mile was definitely the most consistently steep. We went all the way up to the summit and the 360 degree views were absolutely gorgeous. I would recommend trying to leave the summit by noon so you don’t get caught in bad weather. We started heading back down probably around 11:30-11:45, and it was getting pretty cloudy and you could see rain in the distance. We got drizzled on a bit later once we were back below tree line, but it wasn’t bad. I highly recommend this hike! The wildflowers are blooming right now too.

Beautiful trail, not too many folks out there with me when I arrived on a saturday afternoon. Its a steep climb to Broome hut, but the view is great. If you are able to, i highly recommend continuing onward - there's a beautiful field w a mountain-fed stream that meanders thru it. I wasn't able to make it to the summit due to weather coming in, but I'll definitely be back!

What a great trail! We went up on a July Saturday and started up around 845. There was still plenty of parking and there were only scattered hikers going up. I highly recommend going down before or after 12pm bc the sun was right in your face heading down from the Broome hut, so plan better than we did. The waterfall around Broome was super crowded on our descent, but if you keep going up you get into lovely meadows with snowmelt creeks and tons of flowers above treelike. Very doable with kids—albeit slow, but so many picture opportunities you won’t mind stopping a lot!

Great!

A good hike, some fallen trees towards end. But passable, some scrambling but nothing hard. Moderately traveled.

make sure you look up the trailhead on google maps. The entry on here may not be correct. It was relatively easy and ended with a rewarding waterfall. The elevation gain is quite manageable and the fallen trees mentioned in the reviews are being overblown: they were easy to avoid and climb over/around.

I would rate it as easy with some portions more difficult. Many fallen trees across path, about mile from end and did not go any further. Could have gone further but did not want to scramble over the many fallen trees.

Agree with last review about the fallen trees. Beautiful hike but was bummed not to complete because of all the fallen trees...became too difficult to navigate. I’d like to try it again later in the season (hopefully) after some maintenance, as I really enjoyed the hike up until then.

I have tried to make it to twin cones twice, but have been unsuccesful. The first time was due to excessive wind. The second time was because the snow made the trail nearly impossible to follow. We did have fun in early June going up past Broome Hut and glissading around in the snow fields. Some postholing then, but I'm sure it's more clear now. This is a nice trail where there are hardly any people. As we pulled away from the trailhead, about 2 miles up the road, we saw a black bear running along the road! Glad I didn't see him on the trail.

Nice and easy walkabout outside Winter Park. Starts with a little switchback uphill, easy from there. Did it very hungover. Nice view of Winter Park from the top.

Started about 9:15a on 7/1/18, amazing weather. Wore long sleeve shirt and pants, virtually no wind to speak of, no clouds, about 50 degrees when we started. Two adults, two kids (ages 9 and 7). Made it to top and Twin Cones in about two hours with lots of breaks and an extended snack break at Broome Hut. Lots of people, likely taking advantage of beautiful if not unusual (hardly any wind) weather. A bit of wind gusts at top near Twin Cones led to pullover jackets, hats, and gloves. Views as spectacular as advertised. Took small jaunt off trail to see waterfalls to north of Broome Hut, amazing stuff. Highly recommend.

We did this hike in early August 2017 and loved it. Be sure to keep going past the Broome Hut. There were wide open spaces up there and snow slopes to play around on.

This trail is a good for a short day hike. The views were nice and diverse. If you decide to hike the trail, beware that the trail marking is not that great. At the high point there are no markings telling you which way to go. There was only a pile of rocks. Lastly, on the way down, there are about a dozen trees blocking the path.

Did this trail on 6/23. Fairly steep in the beginning and at the end, but the views on top were completely gorgeous! Got a bit muddy in the middle but nothing too bad. Would definitely recommend!

Great Trail! It was fairly flat but a long trail. Was a great beginner hike that weaves in and out of the trees.

A little muddy at the top but otherwise great hike!

This was a nice hike. Starts off kind of steep but very doable. I went all the way to the top past the hut and the views were great even with clouds.

Hiked 6-13-18.
Trail needs maintenance. Was fine about 2.8 - 3 miles in, but after that there are so many trees fallen that it's extremely difficult to find and stay on the trail. Really hope they clean it up soon because the water fall at the end is fantastic but extremely difficult to reach at the monent

Very very difficult trail on a mountain bike. Both my dog and I are pretty confident in our trail-climbing abilities and it was rough on both of us.

Be sure to take a good map and a compass, might help. My friends just went up there and I was going to meet them where Dead horse connects to Tipperary, at the gate, well they got turned around.
Pay attention there are multiple trails/old roads going off of Dead Horse.
They ended up hiking about 10 miles, ugh, glad I went the biking route.
Track where you are, you are hiking through mostly trees, so visual land marks are not something one can rely on. Compass, compass, no matter where you are at.
PS. I had a great ride up Tipperary to the gate where you come out off of Dead horse
For us getting older people, the down hill is a bit hard on the knees, biking up may be hard and you may have to push your bike up in spots, but the ride down is easy on the old body. Be aware on the winding days, still a lot of dead fall standing.

Definitely recommend snow shoes. Just hit this trail yesterday and in some parts, the snow was up to our knees. Great starter trail for a hiking newbie like myself. Not terribly scenic, but still beautiful this time of year with all the snow.

Still fairly snow covered at this time but that’s not the reason for 1 star. You cannot walk more than 10ft without running into dog poop. There was probably a hundred different poop sites in the .25 mile that we walked. It was disappointing to see that much poop on a trail.

Really pretty trail with fresh powder in late April, but like much of experimental forest maps are not updated. Did what others have done and missed loop, just climbed up a steep road for 3.5 on skis, then came down.
