My favorite hike. Did it last year on 4th of July and left around 7 and it took us about 7 hrs. Was only planning to do the Booth Falls Trail and was told there was a lake if you keep going. To our surprise, it was a few miles/hours away and we were totally unprepared. It was worth it when we got to the lake but definitely bring food and water because the lake will take a few hours to get to. There was a bit of snow at the time but not much. The hike is incredibly beautiful. It was unmarked but you can basically tell where to go. There were really no people going up but tons of people coming down. It’s definitely a fun adventure. Not too difficult but very long.

Beautiful waterfall but this should be rated as hard.
Extremely steep and dangerous.
Half the hike is walking through a neighborhood.

Beautiful and easy hike with a big payoff. The wild flowers are gorgeous and the views are breathtaking. Perfect hike to take out of town guests not yet acclimated to the altitude. FYI dogs are allowed off leash as long as they are under voice command. Met up with someone who felt the need to tell me my dog (who is a gentle sole and completely ignored her) should be on a leash. I corrected her and moved along. Besides one crabby lady, it was a perfect hike!

Wonderful hike! Wildflowers are abundant right now on the hike (though unusually sparse in the meadows along the road). Hike all the way to the top and then to the right to the red rock formations. Walk down into the small glens to the left when you reach the red rocks - colorful wildflowers fill the entire glens! Spectacular Mountain Views!!!

When we first got there, I was surprised this was at the ski resort. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. You wind through the trees on the way up, which provides some nice shade and some beautiful views. It’s a fairly difficult hike, the elevation is brutal and it’s steep. But definitely worth it and great exercise. There are restaurants and activities at the top, and you can ride the gondola down if you want to. We did because we were pressed for time but I’d love to go again someday when we aren’t so rushed. The wildflowers were very pretty.

We had tried this hike last year, early June, and couldn’t take the road to get to the trailhead because of snow. Luckily this year we came in mid July and were able to do it. The trail is a steady incline, but nothing too steep or strenuous. Beautiful wildflowers throughout the trail, and beautiful panoramic views. Saw a few chipmunks at the summit, but unfortunately we didn’t see any goats as others have! Will definitely do this hike again.

Abundant wildflowers, beautiful forest, gorgeous views.

Great day. Excellent trail for array of hikers (5 to 50) with beautiful views, wildflower meadows and vestigial snow (a must for our Florida crew).

Beautiful trail. The views are well worth the climb.

The wildflowers are beautiful right now! This hike is a great one for families, as you get panoramic views without the intense elevation gain it generally takes to reach the top of a ridge line. One thing to note - the trail is narrow and can get crowded so it’s worth going early in the morning or later in the evening.

Beautiful trail with beautiful views. Made it 2.5 miles with three kids in tow (ages 9,9,11) and they loved it. We stopped at the creek and rested/played in the water. Aspen pine area took my breath away.

Great hike through the valley for all ages. Worth the work for the view. You can climb down to get in the river at the top. Before the falls stopping area there is a spot to climb down to the front of the waterfall for awesome pics.

Went yesterday and flowers were at their peak. Go early and avoid weekends if possible.

Previous reviews almost convinced me not to go on this trail. Rest assured, there is no rock climbing in the traditional sense but there is a lot of rock stepping. This trail is easily done without trekking poles though you should use them if you have them. This is a great hike for a workout with a decent reward at the end. Be prepared! It is uphill the whole way! Take deliberate steps and use the rocks for traction and you’ll rock this hike!

A new favorite. Well maintained dirt road to trailhead. Will come again!

I would’ve said four star but husband and son said two. I would definitely say it’s more difficult than a moderate due to the ropes and the difficulty getting back down. The waterfall is beautiful. It’s a great hike if you know what you’re getting into, but as others have said, definitely not for small kids, even those under 13, IMHO.

Hiked this trail on 7/10/18. Absolutely stunning! The wildflowers are in full bloom. Challenging at times with steep, rocky inclines but the views are worth it. Beautiful views of high alpine meadows. The lake is totally thawed and was a great reward to enjoy after about 4.5 miles of hiking. Total hike showed 9 miles on my watch. Bring bug spray, lots of mosquitos and biting flies. Also saw lots of marmots!

Beautiful views. For me this was most steep of all trails I have done so far. I am not a pro. Doing this certainly felt rewarding. Several shady and scenic resting places. Adventurous! We all thoroughly enjoyed this trail.

Get ready for your heart rate to spike! The hike really begins at the 5 acre parcel, in the middle of an affluent neighborhood. It's hidden so be on the lookout. Would not recommend kids or animals due to elevation climb with ropes. Yes, ropes. Last leg of hike requires rope assistance. It's very very steep. Get ready for dust and dirt.

Fantastic trail, amazing views throughout and the waterfall at the top was the perfect spot to hang out before heading back down. Probably a little too tough for the younger kids.

This trail was challenging but very beautiful. The first part of the hike (1 mile or so) is tough but gives you an idea of what to expect for the remainder of the hike. Lots of creeks and streams to see as well as some little waterfalls. Did not see excessive wildlife but there were plenty of flowers budding and blooming. I'd say the wildflowers will be in full force in about a week or so. Great varying terrain to keep you entertained as you tackle the inclines. Nicely set up with flat parts to make the altitude change manageable. Very worth the climb; about 7 hours round trip. Hiked 7/10/2018

Great hike for me and the pup! The views from the top are amazing! I was able to take in 360 views of the surrounding area including Holy Cross. Pack a lunch and plan to stay at the top for a while. Don’t forget sunscreen- shaded areas are available for resting but the last big push is all in direct sunlight.

Close to city, not hard, adventure park at top, mountain bikers, a gondola. If easy access and options to not hike one way is your thing then this is for you. Otherwise, pass haha

A good steep hike, with a nice mountain lake at the end. The lake is beautiful, and the trail itself is pretty, especially above the Booth Falls. The views from the trail are very good. We saw plenty of flowers, and a few marmots.

We did it as a part of the Booth Lake trail. It is a steep short climb, pretty but not especially exciting. The falls at the end were not exciting either (they probably look much better with more water, now it may be too dry).

Dogs are allowed off leash here.
