I started in Vail Village, so I took the Strawberry Lane trail to Berrypicker up to Eagle's Nest. It is steep but beautiful patches of aspens everywhere even though the valley is past peak. It rained with a little snow on October 4th, so poles were necessary on the slippery terrain.

Very difficult trail. Could use poles for sure. Amazing fall colors and amazing views at the top of the mountain.

Great Mtn trail. My normal ride goes from the top of chair 11 to the eagle bahn. Light traffic on trail.

We hiked up partway on a Sunday morning. It’s fairly steep, with quite a few switchbacks, but both our 6yo and our 3yo were able to do it without too much trouble. There’s very limited shade, so be sure to bring a hat

Lots and lots to see. Great trail running. Lots of wild flowers and herbs...

Did this hike in 2016 with my sister who had a broken leg at the time. She made it all the way to Lost Lake with little difficulty, so it was not too hard. THE TRAIL MIGHT BE CONSIDERABLY DIFFERENT NOW. I remember that the trail was a little muddy, so just be mindful after a lot of rain. The mosquitoes were pretty bad along the way.

Almost straight up. Harder than the Manitou Incline. Bring lots of water and leave the kids at home. Gorgeous and quiet. Have a beer at the top before heading down!

beautiful views

I loved all the trails on Vail Mountain. They can connect all together to make a day out of hiking and enjoying the scenery. Once you get to the top the trails ease up a bit and you can enjoy the view. You also have option to take gondola up. Fun activities like obstacle course, kids activities, and more to enjoy as well!

Great scenic trail to take into town instead of driving! Beautiful golf course, homes, scenery along the way! Very easy trail.

Great trail. Well marked. Branch out on strawberry lane to go to Vail Village.

Trail Closed for construction.

long dirt road in- 6 miles. Road can be bumpy but no need for 4x4.
Only a few steep sections and they are short. Lake is pretty. Great view of Holy Cross peak. Anticipate 3-3.5 hrs.
Morning is best as trail gets hot.

Great hike! Leads you up Vail mountain through beautiful patches of aspens and pines and through meadows. Once we got to the top of Eagles Nest we traversed the mtn on Grand Escape trail and down Kinnikinnick trail to the mid-Vail gondola. About 6 Miles all together and was amazing. Great views and a variety of landscapes. Not very busy on a Tuesday. The only downside is that the first mile is really steep and you hear the highway until about 1.5 miles into the hike. Don’t let that deter you. Was the only hike we did while in two for two nights and was a memorable one!

A little rocky in places, but an easy hike as advertised. Some nice scenery on the way up and a beautiful lake at the end. Pretty much had the trail to ourselves, which was a treat.

It’s not a hard hike but you need to be in shape to tackle it! I started from sandstone and went over to Lionshead Loop street. I then walked back to the condo I was staying in. Lots to look at. Nice patch of raspberries.

Very nice hike up the slopes. The elevation makes it pretty challenging, but it was doable for our 11 year old. Mix of forest and crossing the meadows on the ski slopes. Saw lots of berries (both edible and not). Had a nice lunch on top at the Eagles Nest. On the way down we diverted to Strawberry Trail for the last stretch to mix it up, which was nice. That feeds out into Vail Village about 10 minutes from the trailhead in Lionshead.

This trail was a great option for those looking for something with little elevation changes and scenic views. It is paved and well maintained along the entire path. If you go a little further for your “out and back” then there is a nice picnic spot set up on a small island near the golf course. The island, which is about 2.25 miles in, has shade trees and a couple of picnic tables. Just watch out for the goose droppings because it is a nesting area for the local geese. We ended up walking just under 4.5 miles after having lunch with the geese and then heading back to the parking lot.

Great trail for kids and an easy bike ride too. We thought the trail was closed until you walk down a little further and there is another entrance to the trail.

Perfect lake hike. Wow what an accidental find!

One of my favorite hikes in the valley for sure! The hike is supposedly the most difficult in the area, I would agree that statement.

The path is steep but, dotted with berries and unique plants and wildlife. there are several streams and resting points on this trail. Feels great to hike to the top, stop for a beer and take the gondola down. 10/10 Will hike again.

Very easy hike-there were herds of sheep near the last half of the hike and we were with our dogs so we didn’t make it to the top. We were told by others that there’s a herding dog that isn’t friendly. This hike would be really pretty in the fall because it’s surrounded by aspens! Tons of sun and not much shade for dogs so bring extra water!

When we first got there, I was surprised this was at the ski resort. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. You wind through the trees on the way up, which provides some nice shade and some beautiful views. It’s a fairly difficult hike, the elevation is brutal and it’s steep. But definitely worth it and great exercise. There are restaurants and activities at the top, and you can ride the gondola down if you want to. We did because we were pressed for time but I’d love to go again someday when we aren’t so rushed. The wildflowers were very pretty.

Close to city, not hard, adventure park at top, mountain bikers, a gondola. If easy access and options to not hike one way is your thing then this is for you. Otherwise, pass haha

First thing I want to say is that is not an "easy" trail. I think people are lured into thinking this is going to be an easy walk or ride, and it's simply not. We are experienced hikers and took trekking poles for balance etc. We are really happy we did. There are some fairly technical areas that require good balance. That being said, this is a beautiful hike. You will weave through forest, wildflowers, Aspen groves and at about 3.75 miles in, you'll reach the lake which is honestly beautiful. While coming out, we encountered a couple of fairly novice mountain bikers who were young, but daunted by the rocky and steep outcroppings. They were walking their bikes due to the technical aspects. We saw another rider who was obviously very seasoned, flying down the hill...so it's fun for everyone, but if you are new to hiking or biking, be warned, this is not an easy trail.

This was the second time I did it and was harder than I remember. Thinking about needing to exercise more.p

Long and easy hike. Have few pretty openings but the lake is the best of it. So quiet and peaceful. Just makes you realise how awesome the nature is. I would advice to take bugs spray with you. Mosquitoes were crazy back there.
