Very very snowy, would definitely recommend snowshoes. We got up just before the big switchbacks with just boots and YakTraks and more than once stepped down past our knees in snow! We only went a little over a mile in but had the entire place to ourselves and still had AMAZING views of the mountains and frozen falls.

Great hike with lots of great photo ops. The falls are gorgeous frozen. The trail is well used by skiers and snowborders, so the snow is very tightly packed and frozen over at parts. You won’t really need snowshoes unless you want to get close to the falls. Only reason I gave it a 4 for snowshoeing. Overall, great trail for a day hike!

One of the best hikes I’ve ever done .

We went on Christmas Day as a family hike. We forgot our snowshoes but we’re still able to walk it. My parents felt there was a lot of up, but it’s worth it!! In the snow it took us 1 hour 45 minutes to get up. It only took 45 minutes to get down. We stopped frequently to get pictures and catch our breath.

Overall a beautiful hike and the falls are absolutely gorgeous! They were frozen over and it was spectacular to see.

Did this hike on 12/8/2018 on a sunny day with packed snow on the ground. The hike is actually only .2 miles from the trailhead to the waterfall. Description on AllTrails is currently very inaccurate. There are a bunch of other loop trails to do that branch off from the trailhead of this hike, but the .2 mile trail to the Cornet Creek waterfall dead ends at the waterfall.

Would rate this waterfall in the winter as 10 stars if I could!!! When we visited, the waterfall was frozen and formed into an icicle-like volcano with the water still pouring into the top of the “volcano”. Very awesome and unique sight!

On the other hand, the short hike to get to the waterfall was pretty challenging with the snow on the ground! Used ice cleats for traction, but trail is very narrow (barely the width of one human foot) in some stretches and follows along a steep ledge most of the way. I was very scared during the first attempt to make it past the narrow, steep sections and gave up, but then found a branch to use for support and felt more comfortable. My husband is like a mountain goat and made it just fine without ice cleats or a trekking pole.

Fun little hike. Great views nice weather.

Cool views but the trail needs better maintenance and signage. When faced with a fork in the road take the left and don’t climb any unnecessary climbs

Awesome trail. This is all uphill so be ready to exert some effort. At tree line the snow is waist deep in some areas with crust. Post holing was a challenge, snowshoes would’ve helped. Didn’t summit Ballard’s peak due to late start.

Beautiful aspen laden trail. Connects to deep creek - head west and find paradise!

loved this trail and views were spectacular!

This hike was just spectacular when I got a chance to do it in June of 2017. Definitely doable for most anyone, though being from a town at sea level and having had only a day of acclimation slowed me down a little. The falls are so powerful and the spray so refreshing, really incredible, but the views are just as impressive as the falls on this trek. This part of Colorado is as good as it gets: the terrain is so varied, red sandstone cliffs to the west and snow-capped mountains that remind me of The Sound of Music to the east. I love Telluride so damn much. Next time I go I want to try and get further up the Wasatch Basin Trail.

NIce trek out to the falls this morning. In from Boston on a pleasure trip. A LOW comes in and drops some precipitation you will need snow shoes. Do it while you can.

Hike with the family. Had a bit of snow and slippery patches towards the top. View is good

Went through October 2018 with snow on the ground in several areas. It is a little rocky but not bad, dont really need 4 wheel drive on this. We did this in a 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk no problem.

stick time in 2008 jeep jk sport with 2018 rubicon wheels and tires minamal. off road experienced only. stock jeep WITH large tires made it no problem. NOT for faint of heart but completely navigable with patience and good equipment. Steps is only technical portion. you will know when u reach them. weather comes out of nowhere. worth the trip and understandable why it's on jeeps badge of honor trail list.

Fantastic off roading experience. Snow and rain made it a bit slippery and had to take it real slow but crazy beautiful views.

This is the best trail beginning-to-end in Colorado. Poser rock is always fun. Always take the harder line if you have the option.

Always a fun trail. It is fun to go down and drive into such a scenic area. The problem with this trail is the idiots who think they are cool or something and take their dads Rav4 down. It clogs up the trail and is moronic. T-case and transmission are your friend on this one.

Great hike, not too steep. Pretty short. Amazing fall color views, though the trail doesn't take you through aspen groves. Big lake which unfortunately is down at least 10 feet in these dry conditions, but totally worth hiking this trail. For more info and fall color pics visit https://etbtravelphotography.com/2018/09/30/roadtrip-to-the-rockies-from-telluride-to-durango/

Great hike. The views are incredible and we saw the lake in clouds, sunshine, and snow—all within about 10 minutes. It’s well worth the effort. We saw it listed as “moderate” but viewed it as tougher than that.

Another trail off my bucket list

Fantastic trail. In my opinion, doesn’t get much better than this.

Nice hike. No big cats seen this morning, and no one at the falls for over 1/2 hour. People often think hike ends at base of falls, by huge boulder but then there’s a short, but steep (10 mins) trail to the actual falls, which are beautiful with gorgeous views of mount Sneffle. Aspen colors are beautiful right now!

Amazing and challenging hike. Use the directions from earlier posts (thanks) to make sure you don’t miss the trail to Blue Lake. Bridal trail falls was just a trickle at this time of year but there are other amazing waterfalls along the trail. Make sure you wear hiking boots or trail runners. Hikers who wore running shoes had trouble navigating the loose gravel both up and down the trail. The views were well worth the hike!!

Great way to kick start the day! Beautiful fall colors and spectacular light on the mountain tops. Big Cat sighting on the trail by jogger in front of me, around 8am, top 3rd of the trail. Keep your eyes out!
