Beautiful hike as always, even though we got rained on solidly for 20 minutes. Sun came out when we reached the top and dried us in minutes! Lots of people and dogs on the trail.

Great trail with plenty of areas to stop and rest with beautiful views. We did this trail with our 3 kids (ages 4, 7 & 12). The 4 yr old made it up the trail almost entirely without any help, but he was wiped after that and asked to be carried back. The other 2 kids did great. This trail is also much closer to 6 miles and the last half had a good climb. I would def recommend. The views were amazing and lake was beautiful. Side note- the road up to the trailhead from trout lake was pretty bumpy. 4 wheel drive recommended.

Very nice trail, but super crowded, even early. Straight up, straight down.

A tough one. Little shade in many places. Mostly vertical but gorgeous views of Telluride. Fun to follow the path of the gondolas too. I feel like a champ!

This trail was difficult but so incredibly beautiful! Amazing views and an untouched lake at the top. The climb is strenuous with a 1500 ft elevation gain from the top of the falls. There are parts where you will have to scramble up rocks and there is loose rock, too. However, so beautiful. Also, it was about 1.9 miles from the top of the falls to the lake.

Awesome hike with awesome views. The trailhead must be accessed via gondola, AllTrails directions try and send you up a ski service road. Either take the free gondola up from Telluride, or drive up to Mountain Village, park at the parking garage behind the market, and take 2 (free) gondolas up to the trail head. Bonus points: if you keep going up to the next ski lift, around the corner, up the mount, across the saddle, there is a staircase that takes you all the way up to Gold Hill #9. This is about as far as you can go without climbing gear. With Bonus Points, it's about 8mi round trip.

Awesome views once you come out of the trees. The trail sign as you near the top sends you left to go to Cross Mountain or right to Lizard Head Pass. While you would think to follow left to Cross Mtn, the trail download on this app says go right.

Great for a quick walk. Shaded most of the way. Not very wide trail. Can be hard to get around other people with their dogs and yours.

Beautiful trail with spectacular views. The blown down trees have all been blazed around, at least as far as the Wilson Meadow Trail sign before the Lizard Head lookout spot. Thanks Forest Service people!

Worth the effort! Easy parking. Be sure to turn and look around at the Cross Mountain Trail sign post just a short ways up the trail.

Great Trail! Had to go a little slow at times due to the altitude and a little steep at the top but we enjoyed it!

It’s closer to 6 miles, out and back. The last mile or so is relatively steep, which is strenuous at elevation for sea-level dwellers like me. Gorgeous from beginning to end!

Did this hike 7/3/2020 from the South Mineral Creek side. The signs on the Telluride side of this trail are inaccurate. It is 3.2 miles from South Mineral Creek to Hope Lake (sign to sign), which took about 2 hours and 15 minutes (one way with no breaks). This is a steady uphill hike the entire way from South Mineral Creek with two short, steep snow fields to cross. There’s also somewhat of a false summit right before 2.4 miles when you think you are finally going to hit the final ridge with a view of the lake, but another .2 steep miles finally gets you to that first view of the lake (at approximately 2.6 miles). I’ve done this hike three times and experienced bad weather all three times. Luckily, this time, the weather cleared up and we enjoyed a nice time at the lake. The water looks extremely low compared to what it used to be, but still really pretty.

No dogs allowed or bicycles. wear hiking shoes, bring water, hiking poles if you have them. Some parts are steep and some narrow. Beautiful views, nice water sound, not very busy, super close to Telluride. about 2.8 miles we did less than 2 hours going slow and taking pictures.
