Trail is in good shape. The lake is still partially covered with snow. Great hike and you can traverse the ridge line to 2 additional peaks. The 1000+ foot accent to Clark Peak is the hardest part. Fees are now $9.00 per car per day

Lovely lake hike, short and sweet. Reminded me of the Lake Agnes hike, but the lake wasn't quite as pretty. Could walk all the way around the lake- through some snow and marsh- which was fun!

Up you go until you’re to the lake and then things level out. Snow and water blocked the path around the lake (more wet than snow at this point), so didn’t go all the way, but still a gorgeous hike. Only saw one other group of hikers the whole way. Nice and secluded.

Nice trail with some other people around both on skis and snowshoes. It had just snowed so tough going when we were breaking trail. There were some nice views.

Had a great time snowshoeing up to the lake today. The snow was very deep with all of the fresh powder so we were definitely blazing some trails. Slow moving day but was fun none the less! Recording Error: Forgot to start watch. Inaccurate pace/speed

It was a beautiful day for a xc ski! Made it on the trail by noon with an almost full trailhead. Most others were backcountry skiing. Many heading their own directions into the woods and not taking the lake trail. The trail was well packed for the first half mile till we caught the lead group of snowshoeing. This last week of snow made for a beautiful and very challenging ski. We ended up breaking trail, pushing through between 1.5 to 2+ feet of powder. Made it about a mile out before turning back. It was beautiful even though we didn't make it up to the lake. I am sure some of the people after us did, as it was a LOT easier after you had a path to follow. The trail is probably in great shape till we get another big snow. Coming down was a blast!

Hiked on Jan 21. Used snowshoes although most of trail was packed until the lake. Went straight up trail to lake, around it and returned same way. Weather was perfect with temp in low 30s, cloudy and mild breeze. Hiked 2 .9 miles in 2.5 hours. No one else on trail. Lake is Frozen in an open setting with mountains around. Trail up in trees. Great short winter hike!

Snowshoed on 1/20/20. The trail is snow packed but you definitely want snowshoes. Really pretty. Felt more moderate than easy with the snow!

Over a foot of snow along the trail and even deeper in some areas. I’d break out the snow shoes for this one after this weekend’s forecast of snow.

10/17/19 We were looking for an easy kid friendly hike that we could take a jogging stroller on. We tried this one today before the next snow storm hits tonight. We did it stroller and all but I probably wouldn’t again with stroller. The hike in is elevation gain the whole way and felt a bit steeper than we expected. That being said we managed it and the payoff was totally worth it, our four year old made it on his own the whole way and the toddler slept in the stroller the whole way down so.... give it a go! I’d guess it will be snow covered starting with this snow storm until spring. Lots of snowy spots in the shade today. I can’t wait to snow shoe this one come winter!

Love this trail and do it frequently! There is a fair bit of snow and the lake is starting to freeze. Just FYI, we came across a fresh deer kill on the opposite side of the lake. We did find mountain lion prints and my two big dogs were freaking out so it must have still been in the area.

Hiked this today 9/14/19 and it was a short enjoyable hike, about 30 min to the lake. The trailhead lists is as “moderate”, rather than “easy” which is probably a better description for people with mobility issues. One of our hikers found the 450’ gain over 1 mile to be tough on his knees. The lake is very pretty, a few wet spots on the trail around the lake. Looks like a great place to camp and enjoy the quiet!

Easy hike above tree line. Views back into RMNP and the Never Summers are great.

Quick, easy trail, great for dogs and kids. We hiked this yesterday 8/24 saw a cow and calf moose about half way up. We saw a few people on the trail, but not too busy for a Saturday.

Really nice, easy hike. Good for a short workout for trail runners as well. I saw a moose feeding in the lake, awesome!

Backpacked up 8/4 with the intent to fly fish. Beautiful lake and scenery. Fairly easy trail. Saw no fish and we are pretty seasoned anglers- was a bummer. Ended up hiking down to joe Wright the following day and had much better luck.

Packed all our gear up last weekend for a nice overnight trip. Trail was mostly dry on the way up, saw a female moose just 10 ft off the trail! Absolutely gorgeous all the way up, and the lake is beautiful as always! About 10 mins after we got up there it started pissing down rain so we ended up not staying the night.

1. Its $8 to enter the hiking spot 2. If you have a good 4x4 you can skip a decent portion of the hike if you want (but why?) 3. Plenty of Shade and ice melt, which also means tons of mosquitos. 4. Not many people, saw 3 groups total Getting up to the lake was easy, getting around the peaks is a little more difficult as even in July there is snow at the top. Fun Hike, good for camping

Wonderful scenic forest trail up to the lake, muddy on 7/2/19. Not s long trail, but the hike from trailhead to lake’s edge left this middle-aged hiker winded. Beautiful vistas. Be aware that as a greenback cutthroat trout breeding ground no other fish are in the lake, and its catch and release only.

Great hike that is clearly marked. Views of the Rawahs looking north is incredible.

Got here early and I was the only person on the trail with my dogs. Trail is still covered in a few feet of snow, snowshoes aren't needed but micro-spikes are recommended. The lake is still frozen/snowed over as well. Nice views of surrounding mountains.
