Fantastic vistas

Switzerland trail is a great first trail for anyone. You can drive this road with any vehicle with a little ground clearance. Take the side roads for additional adventures. Pennsylvania Gulch is a lot tougher road. Enjoy!

So Pennsylvania Gulch for my first off road experience ever..., no other vehicles, and at night was quite the challenge. Make sure you have high clearance, good tires, and 4WD Low before you even consider going up that one way trail. There is no turn around area, and if there was, you wouldn’t want to undo all the effort it takes to make it up to the end. What an amazing trail; my favorite of all the ones I did for the first time that same day.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Willy’s Package, long wheel base stock. I’m a BMW guy but after this trip, I understand why Jeep is what it is by my own experience. Baseball cap off to Jeep.

Make sure you drive slow down the paved road at night, animal crossings everywhere. Had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting a deer, saved by driving under the speed limit.

Great trail! Very easy to follow, even for newer/less-experienced hikers. Our dogs had a BLAST! Very few other people, which was GREAT. The drive all the way up to the trail head is 'fun, - be prepared for 15-20 minutes of dirt road to get there. We took our time and had an enjoyable 3.5-hour full-loop hike. It's beautiful!

You get a piece of all the lovely things about Colorado within this trail. Overall the hike was very easy with nicely defined trails and trail markers. You get to experience a little bit of the high altitude without killing yourself (if you come from out-of-state). The view from the tunnel is absolutely gorgeous! You can see the small lake with traces of an old mining town! There are 3 or 4 information boards throughout the hike which delivers a welcomed history lesson of the area you are hiking. I would definitely hike again! 4/5 stars because I wish the hike itself was a little longer.

Easy trail. The elevation gain is at the beginning of the trail and goes gradual and a little push up to the tunnel entrance.

Great hike. Not a lot of traffic. Hike is at high elevation but not a ton of incline, so perfect for friends from out of town.

Switzerland trail is fun all around. Take the side roads (waypoints) when you can. That’s what made it a little more interesting. There are some scenic views from the backside of the trail.
For the 4 wheeling enthusiasts, I highly recommend going almost all the way through the trail to the end and take Pennsylvania Road back up. That is pretty intense. You need a lift and lockers to do it in some spots. This road is why I give the trail 5 stars.

Great place to get away from the hoards of people at turquoise lake and other fun areas.

This hike had it all in my opinion. We crossed a number of small streams (water for the pooch), a small waterfall, mountain lakes and an abandoned railway tunne high in the mountains. We loved finding remnants of the rails. The views were gorgeous! We are doing it again - this time taking the opposite route on the loop.

easy, family friendly walk. Really nice in the spring!

The main Switzerland trail is easy and could possibly be done in any suv or outback. Done spectacular views once around the backside. Once you get to the end of you go left it takes to back towards the start on Pennsylvania gulch. This part was really fun and my 15 stock Rubicon did fine. But there was two different vehicles that got stuck due to clearance (stock Tacoma and a Lexus land cruiser) it’s an uphill climb on a narrow trail with no room to let someone by. Overall it was fun and challenging and kept me on my toes the whole time.

What a cool hike! We had no idea that Hagerman Pass Rd would be such an adventure of its own (though we did see a Prius at the trailhead. so it's doable for at least some low-clearance vehicles). The trail was great fun, but there's still quite a bit of snow up there so expect lots of postholing, trail losing, and plenty of stream crossings (the sketchy-looking one with the very steep drop-off wasn't as bad as it looked). We made it an out-and-back to the tunnel and needed a solid 3 hours to do so. Have fun out there!

This was a good trail nothing incredibly difficult, the only difficult part I had, was trying to fit the Jeep down the very narrow trail. If I had ran into another person I’m not sure what I would’ve done since where I was there were hardly any spaces to turn around or pass. However I took a left at the first fork in the road you encounter, so it might be a different story down the other trail.

Great hike! Lots of beautiful views and historical information! Still very snowpacked and lost the trail a couple of times but finished in about 4-5 hours! Definitely worth the hike and will be hiking again mid summer!

Great way to start my day either walking or jogging with or without the dog. Great bike riding as well. Trail runs right through my backyard practically. Couldn't ask for more. Love this trail!!

07 Toyota 4Runner Sr5 4wd stock: Just did this after a heavy rain. Very fun and not too bad. I made it and a Subaru did too. Rocky but 1ft clearance and good aim you’ll be fine. The section of puddles was great.

Good trail for riding leisurely with kids in the bike trailer

Couldn’t find the entrance. I used the GPS It took us to an apartment building. The trail next to the apartments was full of trash and a homeless person’s camp site.

It’s okay if you don’t mind mc-mansions and golf courses.

Nice drive. Plenty of places to let people pass on the main trail. I did see regular sedans on the trail. So it can be done, your just going to have a tougher ride and probably bottom out a few times. I did it in a 17’ Forester XT with AT tires and had a blast

Good for an in town stroll. Not much to see. Very easy.

can someone who has been there message me on how to get there exactly please. cedde5415@homail.com

2017 Tacoma SR with 2 inch lift and 265/75/r16 KO2’s. No lockers. Most of it I could do with 2wd, until the 2nd Parking lot (intersects with sugarloaf). After that you can stay on a maintained trail or take the burly way. I’m not sure I could mtb up that section let alone take any vehicle. The 1st parking lot area that really looks like an open area with a few fire barriers made of rocks. From that area on there are some cool offshoots to play around with that are pretty easy but still a good practice. The maintained main trail is really just a bumpy dirt road that even a suburu can get into, except for maybe the snowdrifts.

Great beginner trail, my first time today and I would say it was easy but very rocky and bumpy. Other than that great views and a great time

It's close and easy to get to. Great camping on either end. Boulder County is awesome about marking the forestry roads.

Great trail for a relaxing ride. Constant view of city.
