The best easy/moderate trail for factory 4x4 vehicles!

Absolutely fantastic! What a day! Brought my husband and it was his 1st 14er!

Nice drive. Used 4 low just to control speed on down hill but not necessary. Dry right now so little of the mud mentioned in previous years. Millions of aspen so expect it is amazing in September.

Very scenic with lots of wildflowers. Easy trail 90% of the way even in 1 ton SRW 2WD. One spot a few miles from the Telluride overlook was a little steep and rocky requiring staying on the brakes for a slow crawl down ~ 1 mile stretch. Really rough on a new brake job. At the cattleguard, beware the attack ptarmigan. Stopped to check it out standing in the road and it was all over me. Even wanted to get in the truck. It let me pick it up for some pics. Would be great in 4WD with low range or ATV/UTV for that 1 small spot.

I hiked this beautiful trail on 10/14 after driving up from phoenix the night before. With perfect weather, I was confused why I only saw 1 other hiker the entire day! Spotted a fox and some pikas. I would recommend an ice axe to be secure in the section before the saddle. No snow past the saddle (albeit I turned around at the false summit), but lots of loose rock. So be mentally prepared to slide when coming down. The road to the TH is pretty rough for 2WD. Just before big bear creek (which was very low), there was a giant pothole taking up the road filled with water. With the right vehicle, I would imagine it would be fun! But I parked immediately after that and hiked the remaining distance to the TH.

This trail is at least 9 miles round trip if you go to the summit. Bring your helmet if you go further than the saddle. Lots of loose rock. It was beautiful but pretty hard!

Breathtaking views from the summit. Last climb from False Summit to top was intense.

Wilson Peak is one of my favorite 14ers. Very fun scrambling near the top. This route is a little longer than the original through Silver Pick Basin, but it is still nice to have legal access restored from this side of the peak.

This is a beautiful hike, and an excellent way to climb Wilson Peak. Now that access has been restored to the standard route via the Rock Of Ages Trail, Navajo Basin has become less crowded. But it is still probably the best approach if you wish to climb all 3 peaks. There are many excellent camping spots at Navajo Lake, which is right at treeline.
