A nice easy trail. Some shade but not a lot. Follows a river that is really pretty. A relaxing walk!

HikingGreat!

This is a great - short trail with great views and relatively close to town. Based on other comments we went counter clockwise which was more gradual on the uphill and stepper on the downhill ( which is my preference). For my fellow MTN bikers - there are lots of steps (stairs) on the beginning of the trail if you go clockwise. The trail is a bit sandy - but doable. The lake is nice and lots of area for picnics. Highly recommended.

Great flat trail to take out of town guests with not a lot of time! Perfect to take a picnic and sit along the river. The bathrooms are open. There is some shade, but mostly sun so apply sunscreen!

Super cool hike, not very much shade going up, would do it in the evening or early morning but it was super easy overall, I’m a sucker for good lake views and this is one of my favorites. You can also go fishing as well, Highly recommend!

Nice easy hike saw a lot of deer. Not to many other people. It is at pretty popular park in the jeffco open space so don't expect crazy views or jaw dropping scenery. It a nice hike with pretty good views that would be good for a family outing.

Moderate hike in and out of shaded areas. Keep an eye out for cyclists in some parts. Good for morning hikes.

My daughter and I backpacked this over a couple of days. At once point, All Trails informed me I was off trail for a while. This started about when the trail left the old logging road until I crested the first saddle. Also, the mileage for this trail is 16.6 per the official Colorado Trail Guidebook. The trail was in pretty good shape and was clear and dry. I would recommend bug spray. This has been my favorite segment so far, but I've only done through 4, so that might change. Also, SOBO is an intense climb. NOBO is a great option for this segment if you want to enjoy it with less of a climb.

We were disappointed The trail detail said there is a waterfall but there’s no such a waterfall during the trail. One section was closed and the park ranger told me that the trail has been closed for at least 3 years Lots of hikers and bikers. 06/14/2020 #26

Hiked on 6/12-6/13. Beautiful weather and all blowdown has been cleared. Tons of Mosquitoes at the Brookside Mccurdy campgrounds. Good water there.

This is an easy, stroller-friendly trail. It’s not paved but the paths are well-worn, even in the grassy parts. There’s lots of direct sun exposure, so plan accordingly. We went today (Saturday) around 4:30 pm and it wasn’t busy at all, so it was quiet and peaceful.

Great trail but you really need to pay attention at the very beginning. If your not careful it is easy to take Rolling creek trail. The CT trail head is nearly behind you when you get to the end of the logging road. Other than a couple miles on rolling creek and a turn around it was awesome. Lesson learned.

Wrote a review, and somehow didn't save it. So this will be short. Park on the highway to avoid the fees ($7) and associated nonsense. I paid, left the stub on my dash in clear view, got back and found a "ticket" under my wiper. Cost the trail a star. The trail is not too bad, long and hot. The trees aren't close enough in to block out all the sun. I really enjoyed the trail as did my dog, but both tired when we got back.

This is a nice low-key hike, but isn't very memorable. So much so, in fact, that it wasn't until I pulled into the parking area that I remembered that I did it 10 years ago and forgot. We went counter clockwise this time, which I prefer to clockwise. Very crowded today.

Backpacking

This was a beautiful hike but according to 4 different phones we went approximately 21 miles. We hiked a little over 8 the first day and was expecting just under 8 to get back to car on 2nd day. Nope. So my guess this 15.8 miles does not include the last 6 miles back once loop is complete. Still - we had an amazing time, made it through a hail storm and wind storm. Trail was in great shape - Alot of mountain bikers - our only real issue..

I liked the trail! I’m not hard to please when it comes to the outdoors. I would not say this is a hard trail. Not for a hiker anyway!!

Completed last weekend on 5.30.20 in the morning. It was a meh hike. Horse poop on the trail begs for a low rating. Burn areas are their own type of beauty but not my fav. Wouldn’t really do it again.

Long drive on dirt roads coming in from south to reach either Trailhead. We hiked it in reverse, going towards Denver from Longs Gulch. Only about 1500 ft gain going that way. The 6 mile meadow is wonderful but lacks shade. There are plenty of opportunities for backpackers to drop tent. Lots of water flows to refill from. Really nice hike. Mountain Biking is great, but from the hiker side it was nice not having bikers in the wilderness area. Trail is clear of snow as of 2020 Memorial Day weekend. (End of May)

Nice moderate trail loop to get outdoors with a few views of the valley. Going counter clockwise lets you take the elevation at a moderate pace and ends going down the steep side. Most of the trail has adequate room to let others go by to help with social distancing but the end with the stairs is tight.

Great views at the top! Nice little jaunt, fairly easy trail. The west side of the loop has a pretty wide trail so great for social distancing, the East side not so much, especially on the stairs. Pretty sunny and warm so make sure you go early to beat the heat.
