Total length was close to 6.4 Miles not length stated on app. Trail was narrow in spots. I would not recommend this hike for small children. Beautiful scenery & waterfalls.

Best trail that I know of in the area! The trail itself is more challenging than others, which I appreciate, and the views are amazing!

Super short, great for little kids, cool water fall to see. Great to see if you are just site seeing around Ouray

Great views. Can be tricky with loose rock and off camber sections. Worth the time.

It’s $5 to get in. Pretty but nothing too exciting.

Great trail. Scenic and a good trail for your first one.

I don’t know how they arrive at distances on this app, but every trail I’ve been on is at least 1.75-2.5 miles longer than indicated. We took the Ice Park and Pinecrest shortcuts on this trail & still logged 6.84 miles on Map My Walk.

The hike itself was pretty. There are sections that are steep, broken up by flat trails or descents. We started at the visitors center and got a map from them, which was very helpful, especially since we took two shortcuts. It wasn’t a difficult hike, but there is quite a bit of exposure and it got really hot. There are a few spots where you have to walk on or across roads.

I wouldn’t recommend this trail for kids under 8-9 years old, unless they listen well and have hiking experience. The inclines are steep and there is quite a bit of the trail that’s only wide enough for one person.

A good, challenging trail. There are some sections that are really awesome - around Box Canyon, for instance. However, many of the views are extremely similar to those you can see from town or from the highway. A long stretch of the trail is on roads in town which was not fun, although I did see on the map they're planning a new section that would avoid this. You still have to pass by the swimming pool, though, and the noise from that echoes far, which I found very annoying. If I did this again, I would start at Cascade Falls and end after Box Canyon - the rest of the trail isn't as remarkable.

Well worth the uphill hike!

Went early and avoided tourist traffic. Easy 2wd until the last ¼ and hen aired down and put in 4 hi most of the time. A few spots needed 4 low and we stayed in low most of the way down during the steep part. Great hiking and views at the top. Next time we are there we’ll try some of the basins to the south of the trail. Stock Sahara, 32 AT no lift.

Was a very beautiful hike but there was a lot of steep hills. Lots of narrow edges some with out rails. Over all the work was all worth it because of the views it would not be great for kiddos under 6 because of the steep hills. We had a 12 and 9 year old and it was a little difficult.

Did this trail in my Jeep from the West side - starting off of 550. Talking to people who came up from Lake City and looking over the map, this route is much steeper but a lot of fun. A couple of off camber shelf stretches that were a little hair raising but not that many people till the top. Great drive, well worth it

I just drove this trail last month and its super pretty and a really fun drive. Bad news is that the trail south of the intersection of CR31 and CR31A (the jumbled intersection on the map) has been washed out in a landslide and doesn't exists anymore.. In addition CR31 has a large locked gate crossing it as you make the sharp turn north to head back up to the Million Dollar Highway. This makes the trails just a quick out and back but it is still absolutely worth exploring and taking a drive on.

I used to use this for mountain biking and now that I use a 4wd this mapping works just as good if not better than some of the paid apps.

Moderate is a massive understatement! This trail was a kick, but it was absolutely challenging. In some spots it was quite intense - our JK rubicon had zero challenges, was impressive. Quite a few wildflowers but they were definitely past their peak.

Beautiful views!! Good incline. Nice shade.

CLOSED! I was in Ouray about a week ago, and had plans to hike this trail. Unfortunately, the storms had washed away the switchbacks and I was told the trail would be closed for quite some time. Make sure to check in with the visitors center if you have plans to hike BCT. We did the "Bridge to Heaven" instead, which was really lovely and still challenging.

super cute town, amazing waterfall, just the right length for everyone... high altitude was a little rough but AMAZING

Amazing trail. Combined with other trails and rode from 8 am to 6 pm. The ride to the summit was spectacular. A large part of the trail is above the tree line with incredible views. Trail was easy to drive was in high range about 1/3 of time and mostly used low to control decent and navigate rocks.

Ran from Ouray to Telluride, nice to end up at mining ruins. Definitely, need low range transfer case and high clearance. Huge altitude increase, rocky paths but nothing technical or challenging. Bad weather would make it much harder. Heavy traffic going down to Telluride.

Short walk to a beautiful waterfall. Went early July when it was still really dry and the waterfall wasn't very full but still enjoyed it. Plenty of boulders to jump around on and climb. Great for kids.

Took part of the Perimeter Trail and the Portland Trail after playing near the waterfall to lengthen the hike.

pretty hike that can be as short or long as you want it (many turn-offs to get back into town). I started from across the visitors center and did about half of the trail (did the ice park shortcut then came back to town). I was sitll able to see a couple waterfalls, some canyoning, and incredible views of the town. It is a great way to see the town and scenery around it.

Hiked in 2016. Beautiful views of the ravine, creek, water cascades, and mountains. I went to the mine ruins and back and was beat. I would like to go back eventually with more time/endurance to explore further up. There is some exposure to a steep drop during the lower/middle section. The trail was wide enough that I felt safe, but I wouldn't recommend it with small children. You may want insect repellent.

Went a couple of weeks ago. Amazing hike. Very strenuous and lots of exposure. Bring lots of water!!!

Went to hike this today and the trail was closed due to trail damage I assume from Mudslides.

Amazing !!!! Climbing up the waterfall and enjoying the beauty!!! The kids loved it.

Was not impressed. If you are just going to see the bathtubs, they are just about .2 miles from the TH. The rest of the trail just connects up with the Perimeter Trail.

Great hike with amazing views of Ouray. You walk through the mine, which is cool. I would suggest going up to the mine first and then doing the remaining part of the Portland Loop trail as that will get the hardest part over first.

Beautiful hike and definitely not one to miss when visiting the area. That said, the trail is actually *6.3 MILES* not 4.7. It was at least a moderate trail with some parts relatively strenuous, so if you plan on doing the full trial you need to be in good shape. We hiked the full trail in 3.5 hours. Make sure to bring lots of water and sunscreen as it gets hot!

You pass several waterfalls, caves, through forests, and on cliff edges! If you only do one hike, so this one. You also see Baby Bath Tub and Cascade Falls from this hike so you essentially see everything, including the adorable town itself!

Be aware at at the end you walk through a small neighborhood and then through an RV camping/trailer park section but it’s not long before your back to the visitors center. Have fun!

Superb views, you’ll spend plenty of time stopped taking pics of the scenery. The drive is very rocky, good ground clearance is a must, as are a good set of tires. It would be very easy to slash a sidewall. 4-low is extremely useful for the steep climbs going up, and engine braking going down.
