5/17- beautiful hike alongside a roaring river with some great waterfalls. Toward the lake, it’s still snowy but we did just fine in hiking boots without spikes. The lake is gorgeous! Definitely a new favorite hike of mine.

I nice and easy hike dog and kid friendly. So going back this summer.

Did this hike on the 7th May. Was very enjoyable, beautiful views. Last mile of the hike was packed snow but had no problems hiking without spikes

Follow the trail up to the left and over the rocks to get to the bottom of the waterfall. Pretty hike. Easy. My friends 3 year old hiked most of it on his own.

Easy hike. Went today 5/13/18 and there was minimal packed snow up to the lake. We had on hiking boots and tennis shoes. There is some water to walked through, but our friends with tennis shoes manage just fine walking on logs/rock to pass by. Pretty lake up top and campsites.

the road was closed due to construction, so we couldn't even get to the winter parking lot. anyone know when it will be open again?

Road closed when coming from the Mountain Research Station side.

Good, moderate hike. Solid views and lots of running water. Highlight was seeing a moose hanging out by the lake. Doable in just boots, but spikes will come in handy the next several weeks.

I’ve done this hike before and i like it a lot. Does anybody know when the road will reopen?

Did this on 5/8/2018. The first mile was beautiful and dry (felt like summer). But the last mile or two to the lake had about a foot of snow and ice and parts of the trail were flooded. Me and my buddy made it fine but this trail is much more enjoyable in the summer.

Beautiful trail with some amazing mountain views. If you’re hiking all the way to the top make sure you bring spikes because the last mile is all incline and all snow. Getting up there wasn’t too difficult, little slippery in places but coming back down you’ll be sliding all over the place. Went on a Sunday afternoon and wasn’t very busy at all but parking is a little tough to find so get there early! Definitely recommend.

Beautiful hike with a lake at the top! We hiked this last spring. Road driving up is pretty rocky. We meant to hike the 4th of July trail lower down on the road but couldn’t find parking anywhere so kept driving up the road and there was nowhere to turn around until you get to the parking lot at the trailhead. So we ended up hiking this trail instead. Was a pretty hike. Would do again.

5/3/18
road still closed, lots of snow. 5 mile hike 1 way to trailhead.

Snow covered on most of the track. Had to return from the middle but few were doing it completely. Good luck

This was a easy trail to do with children until the trail ended by the waterfall. We weren’t sure which way to go but was able to follow a path up and over. My 2.5 year old needed assistance climbing up but with help we got to the other side and even made it to the reservoir as well. Very pretty, short, and easy.

Great hike, beautiful views- bring your spikes! It was slick in a few spots.

beautiful waterfall and our dog had a blast playing in the reservoir. pretty easy hike, bring some beers. take a left before the waterfall after you go check it out.

Great hike. Not much parking so get there early. I used spikes and they were very handy! Beautiful sights.

Wonderful trail, went up to lost lake. It was very snowy but well packed. Had to like in a bit from the main road.

Great hike with beautiful views, clean air, and the lake at the end is beautiful!

Brought poles and yak tracks, were very grateful to have them.

Amazing views, great trek. Lake today was frozen, the snow was piled high but the trail itself was packed in most areas.

Really wanted to do this trail but the road all the way up (st Bernard lake trail) is closed due to construction tell late June.
Trailhead 4 miles away from road closer.

Road closed through late June due to construction. Trail is four miles up.

We really love this trail. It is very pretty in fall- Mid October. Nice family walk and roomy trails.

Great quick hike! The waterfall was little but very pretty. And the reservoir was absolutely beautiful! Shady in spots but mostly sunny. Also there was no snow and only a few muddy areas on the trail! Got a little confused right before the waterfall (where it gets rocky) but luckily some fellow hikers were there to show us where to climb up. Will definitely be back!

Love this area! Packed snow the whole way to Lost Lake, spikes or snowshoes are not necessary but I did see a few folks with them on. The dirt road leading up the fork for Hessie TH and 4th of July was closed. So be sure to get here early as parking (which in general is tough usually) will have to be on the side of the road in Eldora until the dirt road reopens. Very peaceful hike and I had the lake all to myself (started the hike around 8:30am). I will definitely be back in the summer!

It was a short hike but great for what it is. My dog loved it! The water ran next to the entire trail which ended at a small but nice waterfall. Didn’t feel like climbing down the rocks to the reservoir.

worth the hike! the last mile is tough but the views are spectacular. This is my favorite hike in Colorado.

Beautiful trail! The road to the trailhead is currently closed so its a .7 mile walk to it. Trail is mainly uphill and verrryy snowy. We did it in hiking boots which I don't suggest. Some points at the top of the trail we fell through thigh high snow. One of us actually fell two feet in the frozen lake. We went on a Wednesday and we only saw 1 other person. Cool abandon houses by the trail.

This was my first trip to Colorado and words and pictures alone can't do it justice. I'll be going back again.
